Iryna was a great host and her motorhome was well equipped for our trip. The RV was very clean on arrival and everything worked as it should during our 12 day trip from Calgary to Wisconsin. It was especially important to have a powerful air conditioner as it was very hot in the Dakota's and Montana during our drive. Iryna's motorhome is a smaller Class-C model at 22 feet which is exactly what we wanted for maneuverability and fuel economy, and still had plenty of sleeping space, storage, and a very large bathroom and shower. It also had a larger fridge and freezer than we were used to in an RV. Our fuel consumption calculated for our 4800 kilometre trip was 20.7 l /100 kms which is exceptional in this class. Iryna is a great host and we would highly recommend her and this RV!

Great camper if you know what you want. It will sleep 5 but if the weather doesn’t cooperate you can’t really do anything. Overall camper was great. It’s not new so has some quirks and you’ll appreciate your bed afterwards but better than a tent!

When is the best time of year to rent an RV in Plainview, MN?

Late May through early October is prime time for an RV rental in Plainview, MN. Daytime highs climb from the mid-60s°F in May to the low 80s°F in July and pleasant 70°F days in September. June and July bring lush green bluffs and warm trout-fishing weather, while late September and early October light up the Driftless Area with stunning fall colors along the Mississippi River. I've never rented an RV before, will I be okay driving one around Plainview?

You'll do great, first time renting an RV in the Plainview area is honestly one of the easier places to start. Highways like US-63 and MN-42 are wide, lightly trafficked, and have generous shoulders, with no mountain passes or tight downtown corridors to worry about. Every RVezy host gives a full walkthrough at pickup, covering driving tips, how to back up, propane, water, and the toilet system. You can also message your host anytime during your trip. If you're nervous about driving altogether, simply book a host who offers delivery and setup, you'll never have to touch the steering wheel.

Can I take my Plainview RV rental across state lines or into Canada?

Yes, interstate travel is welcome on most rentals, an RV road trip from Plainview into Wisconsin (just 30 miles east across the Mississippi), Iowa (90 miles south), or up to Duluth is totally doable and very popular. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the specific host and their insurance, so message the host directly from the listing to confirm before you book. One firm rule: travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance doesn't extend there. Popular cross-border routes from Plainview include the Great River Road into Wisconsin and the loop up through Minneapolis to International Falls and Voyageurs National Park.

How much should I budget for fuel on my Plainview RV trip?

Fuel is the biggest variable cost, but it's manageable in Minnesota where gas typically runs $0.20 to $0.40 below the national average. Travel trailers towed by trucks average 10 to 14 mpg, Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 mpg, and Class B campervans can hit 18 to 22 mpg. For a typical 4-day, 400-mile loop through the Driftless Area from Plainview to Lake City, La Crosse, and back, budget roughly $120 to $200 in fuel for a Class C. Fill up in Plainview or Rochester where prices are lower than at highway exits, and download GasBuddy to spot the cheapest stations along US-52 and I-90.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Plainview?

For Minnesota state parks like Whitewater and Carley, reservations open 120 days in advance through the Minnesota DNR reservation system, and that's exactly when you should book for summer weekends, sites genuinely sell out within hours for July and August Saturdays. For private parks like Lazy D Campground or the Rochester/Marion KOA, 4 to 8 weeks ahead is usually plenty outside of peak holidays. Shoulder season (May, September, October) is much more forgiving, you can often snag riverside sites at Hok-Si-La in Lake City just a week out. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for exactly 120 days before your target Whitewater weekend and book at 12:00 AM Central.

What are the driving conditions like around Plainview, MN?

Driving an RV around Plainview is refreshingly low-stress, you're on rolling rural highways through farmland and limestone bluffs, not city gridlock. The main routes (US-63, MN-42, and US-52 to Rochester) are well-maintained two- and four-lane roads with plenty of room. Watch for a few things: deer are very active at dawn and dusk (especially fall), occasional Amish horse-and-buggies on county roads east of town, and steep, winding descents into the Whitewater River valley near Elba. In winter, blowing snow can drift across MN-42 fast, so check 511mn.org before heading out from November to March. Otherwise, this is honestly some of the most pleasant RV driving in the Midwest.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Plainview?

You'll be well taken care of. Most campgrounds near Plainview offer electric hookups (30 or 50 amp), potable water fill stations, and dump stations, with private parks like the Rochester/Marion KOA and Lazy D offering full hookups (water, sewer, electric at the site) plus Wi-Fi and showers. Minnesota state parks like Whitewater and Carley have electric sites, modern restrooms with showers, and a shared dump station, but no individual sewer hookups. Need to dump or fill up between stops? The City of Rochester operates a public dump station at Silver Lake Park, and many gas stations along US-52 offer potable water. Always confirm hookup type when you reserve.

How do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure, you pay directly through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card when you book, not in cash to the host. Your trip total includes the nightly rate, service fee, the protection plan you choose, and any host add-ons. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment before pickup and released after the host confirms the RV came back in good condition, typically within a few days of return. To avoid deposit issues, do a thorough walkaround with your host at pickup, take date-stamped photos and a quick video, and return the rig clean with tanks emptied per the host's instructions.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Can I rent an RV in Plainview during winter, and how do I stay warm?

Yes, winter RV rentals are available in Plainview for the adventurous, think frozen waterfalls near Whitewater State Park, ice fishing on Lake Pepin, and snowmobile trails close by. January and February average highs are around 23°F with lows near 5°F and occasional dips well below zero, so look for four-season rigs with heated holding tanks, an enclosed underbelly, and a strong furnace. Choose a campground with shore power and non-freezing water access, and confirm winter readiness with the host before booking. Pack heated water hoses, tank heaters, and extra propane, and you'll enjoy a genuinely magical season in the Driftless bluffs.
