The success of platforms like RVezy depends on people, not just campers. We found in Lena a host who was quick to respond, thorough, accommodating and pleasant. Arranging for pickup was easy, and her complete walkthrough of towing hookup and campground setup was very helpful. She has the unit fully outfitted with everything needed for sleeping, cooking and showering, etc. We had set aside a number of items to bring that we were able to leave at home. There's even a red binder inside with instructions for all the systems, While the camper is a couple years old, it's really only the outside that shows any minor wear from normal exposure to the elements. Everything worked as we needed it to. In all, this was a great solution for our annual group camping trip, this year to Willow River State Park. Highly recommend this host.

June and September are the sweet spots: warm days, cool nights in the 50s, fewer mosquitoes, and lower rental rates. July and August are peak season, with the Minnesota State Fair (late August) drawing big crowds to the Twin Cities. Can I rent an RV in Maplewood during the winter?

Yes, winter RV rentals are possible in Maplewood, and some hosts list four-season rigs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and propane furnaces ready for Minnesota cold. Winter temperatures here regularly dip below zero from December through February, so plan to stay at campgrounds with shore power (30 or 50 amp) so your furnace and heaters can run continuously. A snowy Twin Cities RV getaway is a uniquely cozy adventure.

I've never rented an RV before. How will I know how everything works?

First time renting an RV? You're in great hands. Every RVezy host provides a walkthrough at pickup (or at delivery) where they show you how to operate the slide-outs, water system, propane, generator, leveling, and dump valves. Most walkthroughs take 30 to 60 minutes, and hosts encourage you to take photos and videos to reference later. You can also message your host anytime during your trip through the RVezy app. For nervous first-timers, choose a Class C motorhome or travel trailer under 25 feet, perfect for navigating the Twin Cities metro. Pro tip: book delivery to a campground like Lake Elmo so your first RV experience is at a quiet site, not a busy highway.

What if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?

You're never stranded. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering things like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and tows to the nearest qualified service center. You can also reach your host directly through the RVezy messaging app, and they often know exactly how to troubleshoot quirks specific to their rig (like resetting a tripped GFCI or relighting a water heater). RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number to your phone before leaving Maplewood, and keep a flashlight handy: the St. Croix River Valley gets dark fast at night.

Can I take my Maplewood RV rental into Wisconsin or across the Canadian border?

Interstate trips are easy: many Maplewood hosts welcome trips into Wisconsin (just minutes across the St. Croix River) and beyond, and the included protection plan follows you through all 50 states. Popular Wisconsin destinations include Willow River State Park (30 minutes east), the Apostle Islands (about 4 hours northeast), and Wisconsin Dells (about 3.5 hours southeast). Crossing into Canada requires written approval from the host in the RVezy app before booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental due to insurance limitations. Pro tip: ask the host upfront about cross-border travel so your itinerary is locked in before payment.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Maplewood RV trip?

Fuel is one of the bigger trip expenses, but it's easy to estimate. Class B campervans get around 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A motorhomes typically run 6 to 9 MPG. Minnesota gas prices generally track close to the national average. For a 300-mile loop from Maplewood to Duluth and back in a Class C, expect to spend roughly $90 to $130 on fuel at recent pump prices. Pro tip: fill up at Costco in Maplewood or Holiday stations in the east metro before heading out, as gas tends to be pricier near the North Shore tourist areas.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Maplewood?

For Minnesota state parks like William O'Brien, Afton, and Interstate, reservations open 120 days in advance through the Minnesota DNR reservation system, and popular summer weekends (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day) often fill the day they open. Washington County parks like Lake Elmo and St. Croix Bluffs typically open reservations several months out. For private parks like Town & Country Campground in Savage, 2 to 4 weeks ahead is usually plenty outside of major holidays. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for exactly 120 days before your trip start date, that's when the best Minnesota DNR sites get snapped up.

What's it like driving an RV around Maplewood and the Twin Cities?

Driving in Maplewood is genuinely manageable, even for first-timers. The east metro has wide suburban streets, plenty of big-box parking lots for practice, and easy access to I-694, I-35E, and US-61. Avoid rush hour on I-94 through downtown St. Paul (7 to 9 AM and 4 to 6 PM) and watch low-clearance routes if you head into Minneapolis. Winter brings ice and snow from November through March, so check 511mn.org before driving. Pro tip: for stress-free city driving, book RV delivery Maplewood and let your host handle the metro portion.

What amenities do campgrounds near Maplewood typically offer?

Most campgrounds near Maplewood are well-equipped for a comfortable RV trip. Lake Elmo Park Reserve offers electric hookups (30/50 amp), potable water fill stations, a dump station, and flush toilets with showers. William O'Brien State Park has electric sites in the upper campground along with a dump station and shower buildings. Afton and Interstate State Parks offer electric sites and dump stations but limited water hookups. For full hookups year-round, Town & Country Campground in Savage and Dakotah Meadows RV Park in Prior Lake are reliable choices. Pro tip: pack a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a 30-amp to 15-amp adapter, because not every Minnesota site has the same setup.

What's included inside a typical Maplewood RV rental?

You'll be impressed by how well-stocked most rigs are. A typical RV rental in Maplewood includes a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, sink, cookware, plates, utensils), a bathroom with toilet and shower, sleeping for 2 to 8 people, climate control (furnace and air conditioning), a dinette, and seatbelted travel seats. Larger Class A and Class C motorhomes usually add a TV, awning, outdoor speakers, and a generator. Many hosts also include linens, towels, camp chairs, and starter supplies. WiFi varies by rig, but most travelers use a phone hotspot in this region. Pro tip: check the listing's amenity list and message the host to confirm bedding and a coffee maker are included.

What add-ons can I get with my Maplewood RV rental, and how does pickup work?

Hosts often offer helpful add-ons like bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, generator use, bike racks, kayak racks, fire pits, and outdoor chair sets. Some include propane and a dump-station service fee for ultimate convenience. Pickup usually happens at the host's home in Maplewood or a nearby Twin Cities suburb, and pickups typically run mid-afternoon with returns by late morning. Mileage policies vary: many hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per day, with overage fees set per listing. Pro tip: filter for Instant Book listings if you want to confirm your dates quickly, then add only the extras you'll actually use.

How do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card, not directly to the host, so your trip is protected from the first click. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment before the trip (amounts vary by rig) to cover potential incidentals like minor damage, excess mileage, or missing items. Once the host confirms everything is in good shape after return, the hold is released. Pro tip: do a quick walk-around video at both pickup and drop-off in Maplewood, share it with your host through the RVezy app, and your deposit refund will go smoothly so you can start planning your next Minnesota adventure.
