In a word - excellent. That’s how I would describe the experience with Steve and his RV. Well-appointed, very clean, and a comprehensive manual for renters. Steve (and his wife and son) were such great collaborators in general, particularly for a festival drop off that was anything but straightforward! Next May, I will be renting from Steve again if the RV is available.

Good value for the money. Rv was in good condition and ready to go on pickup. Everyone was very friendly, helpful and responsive. 9/10 would rent from again, 9 only for the purposes that we may rent a bigger rv in the future. But it reasonably accommodated 9 people for its size. We had a great trip.

What kind of fuel mileage should I budget for, and what's gas like in Ohio?

Budget realistically and you'll have no surprises. Expect roughly 18 to 22 MPG for a Class B campervan, 8 to 12 MPG for a Class C motorhome, 6 to 10 MPG for a Class A, and 12 to 16 MPG combined for a truck towing a travel trailer. For a 3-day, 300-mile trip in a Class C, plan on roughly $90 to $115 in fuel. Local tip: prices tend to be lower Monday and Tuesday than Friday and Saturday, and the AAA fuel tracker is the easiest way to check current averages.

How far in advance should I book a campground near New Albany?

For Ohio State Parks, book the moment your dates open. For private campgrounds like Berkshire Lake, Cross Creek, and Sunbury/Columbus North KOA, two to three months out is usually enough for peak season, and a few weeks is fine for shoulder season. Pro tip: aim for a Sunday or Monday arrival to improve your odds, and use reserveohio.com's filter for full-hookup sites so you only see what fits your rig.
