2018 Forest River Class C
Renting Kim’s RV was a great experience. We had an out of state family reunion (roughly 1,100 miles round trip) and the RV didn’t skip a beat! The two bunk beds that pop out are slightly bigger than other RV’s (it fit a 5ft 5in adult comfortably) and the Queen Bed above the driver seat fits a couple comfortably. Kim provides some outdoor living amenities like folding chairs and tarps.

On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A motorhomes run $250 to $400 per night. Pricing dips outside the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration in late August, when demand spikes. Pro tip: many Shelbyville hosts offer weekly discounts of 10 to 20 percent for trips longer than seven nights.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Shelbyville%2C%20TennesseeWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Shelbyville?
Great news for first-time renters: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Shelbyville, TN. Tennessee does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal RVs, even larger Class A motorhomes. RVezy generally requires renters to be at least 25 years old, and your ID is verified securely through the platform at booking. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home country's license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto association. Most guests are surprised how simple the process is, you can complete identity verification in just a few minutes from your phone.

Yes, every RV rental in Shelbyville TN booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built in. The protection plan covers most accidental damage to the vehicle during your trip, so you can explore the back roads of Bedford County with peace of mind. During checkout you choose the protection level that fits your trip, with higher tiers offering lower deductibles and broader coverage. Pro tip: review the protection tiers before you confirm so you can pick the one that matches your travel plans and budget.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Shelbyville RV rental?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets a clear, consistent cancellation policy that applies to every rental, so you don't have to negotiate terms with the host. Refund outcomes depend on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. RVezy manages the policy uniformly across all listings, which keeps the process predictable. Pro tip: book early to lock in your dates for the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration or Bonnaroo weekend, you'll have more flexibility to adjust if plans shift, and you can review the full policy details on the RVezy Help Center before you confirm.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Shelbyville RV trip?
Yes, plenty of pet-friendly RV rental Shelbyville options are available on RVezy, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when searching. Bedford County is a fantastic place to travel with dogs: the Duck River greenway, Henry Horton State Park trails just north of town, and Normandy Lake all welcome leashed pets. Most pet-friendly hosts charge a small cleaning fee of $25 to $75, which keeps the RV fresh for the next guest. Pro tip: message the host before booking to share your dog's size and breed, many Shelbyville owners are dog people themselves and happy to share local off-leash spots and pet-friendly patios in downtown Shelbyville.
tnstateparks.com/parks/henry-hortonCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Shelbyville?
Yes, RV delivery in Shelbyville is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers. Many local hosts will deliver and set up your motorhome or travel trailer at Henry Horton State Park, Tims Ford State Park, Normandy Lake, or a private property near downtown Shelbyville. They handle leveling, hookups to water, sewer, and 30/50 amp electric, and walk you through every system before leaving. Delivery fees in the Shelbyville area typically run $2 to $4 per mile from the host's location. Pro tip: filter by Delivery on RVezy and ask the host about delivery to Bonnaroo in Manchester, about 30 miles southeast, a hugely popular request every June.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Shelbyville%2C%20TennesseeHow far can I drive on my Shelbyville RV trip?
You've got serious range from Shelbyville, which sits at the crossroads of Middle Tennessee. Each host sets their own mileage policy, but you'll commonly see 100 to 150 free miles per night, with some offering RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer journeys. Popular drives include Nashville (about 60 miles north), Lynchburg and the Jack Daniel's Distillery (about 25 miles south), Chattanooga (about 90 miles southeast), the Great Smoky Mountains (about 200 miles east), and Memphis (about 210 miles west). Pro tip: if you're planning a big loop like Shelbyville to the Smokies and back, filter for unlimited mileage listings or buy a mileage package upfront, it's almost always cheaper than paying per-mile overages.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Shelbyville%2C%20TennesseeWhere are the best campgrounds near Shelbyville, TN?
You're spoiled for choice on RV camping Shelbyville options. Top picks include Henry Horton State Park in Chapel Hill (about 20 minutes north) with full hookups along the Duck River; Tims Ford State Park near Winchester (about 45 minutes south) with lakefront sites and great fishing; Normandy Lake area campgrounds (about 15 minutes east) along the TVA reservoir; and private parks just outside town for a quieter farm-style stay. For the Walking Horse Celebration, RV lots at the Celebration Grounds fill up fast. Pro tip: Tennessee state park reservations open up to 12 months in advance through tnstateparks.com, and waterfront sites at Tims Ford go within minutes of release for summer weekends.
tnstateparks.com/parks/tims-fordWhen is the best time of year for a Shelbyville RV trip?
Shelbyville shines from April through October, with the sweet spots being mid-April to early June and mid-September through October. Spring days typically reach the low to mid 70s with dogwoods and redbuds in bloom, while fall brings crisp days in the 60s to mid 70s and great color along the Duck River. July and August are hot and humid, climbing into the upper 80s and low 90s, perfect for lake days at Normandy or Tims Ford. Winters are mild (40s to low 50s) but can bring occasional ice. Pro tip: late August brings the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, the town's biggest event, book your RV three to six months early if you're attending.
weather.gov/ohx/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Shelbyville?
You're going to do great, and Shelbyville is one of the friendlier places to learn. First time renting an RV? Your host provides a full walkthrough at pickup, covering driving, leveling, propane, water, the generator, and dumping. Bedford County roads are mostly flat to gently rolling, with wide rural highways like US-231 and TN-64 that are easy on a beginner. Avoid tight downtown squares in Lynchburg and Bell Buckle during festivals, and stick to the bypass routes. Pro tip: choose a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer for your first trip, they drive much like a large van or pickup, and RVezy's support team is reachable through the app if you have a question on the road.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
You're covered: every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so help is one call away whether you're parked at Normandy Lake or cruising US-231 toward Nashville. The roadside team handles flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing to the nearest qualified service center. Your host is also a direct resource for quirks specific to their RV, and RVezy customer support is reachable any time through the app. Pro tip: before pulling out of the host's driveway in Shelbyville, snap photos of the tire pressure sticker and save the roadside number to your phone, it'll save time if anything pops up mid-trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Shelbyville RV rental across state lines?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome on most Shelbyville RV rentals, and that's part of the fun of an RV road trip from Shelbyville. You can head to Kentucky bourbon country, the Great Smoky Mountains in North Carolina (about 200 miles east), Huntsville Alabama (about 75 miles south), or Atlanta Georgia (about 250 miles southeast) without issue. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals due to insurance limitations, and cross-border travel to Canada requires direct host approval and confirmation of coverage. Pro tip: message your host through the RVezy app before booking with your planned route, they'll confirm any state-line specifics and often share their favorite stops along the way.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for?
Plan smart and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Class B campervans in Shelbyville typically get 18 to 22 miles per gallon (mpg), Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 mpg, larger Class A motorhomes return 6 to 10 mpg, and trucks pulling travel trailers run about 10 to 14 mpg. Regular unleaded around Shelbyville and along I-24 typically runs close to or slightly below the national average. For a 300-mile loop in a Class C, budget roughly $100 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: fuel up at the Pilot/Flying J or the Love's near I-24 in Manchester, both offer easy big-rig access and consistent pricing for your motorhome rental Shelbyville trip.
gasprices.aaa.com/state-gas-price-averages/How far in advance should I book a campground near Shelbyville?
Booking early is the move, and Tennessee makes it straightforward. Henry Horton and Tims Ford State Park reservations open 12 months in advance at tnstateparks.com, and prime weekends (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, and the Walking Horse Celebration in late August) fill within days. Corps of Engineers and TVA-area campgrounds book through recreation.gov, also typically 6 months out. For private parks, you can often grab a spot 2 to 4 weeks ahead. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for 12 months before your target date and book the moment the window opens, lakefront sites at Tims Ford are the first to disappear every season.
tnstateparks.com/about/reservationsWhat are driving conditions like around Shelbyville?
Driving in and around Shelbyville is genuinely relaxed compared to most US destinations. Bedford County roads are mostly two-lane highways with gentle hills, light traffic, and plenty of turnouts. US-231 (the Shelbyville bypass) is the main north-south artery to Nashville and Huntsville, and I-24 is about 20 miles east via TN-64 toward Manchester. Watch for slower-moving farm equipment in spring and fall, horse trailers (this is the Walking Horse capital, after all), and occasional fog along the Duck River on cool mornings. Summer thunderstorms can pop up fast in July and August. Pro tip: avoid downtown Shelbyville's town square at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays, and steer clear of Bell Buckle's narrow streets during the RC Cola and Moon Pie Festival in June.
smartway.tn.gov/trafficWhat amenities will I find at Shelbyville-area campgrounds?
You'll find well-equipped campgrounds throughout the region. Henry Horton State Park offers full hookups (water, 30/50 amp electric, sewer) at most sites, a dump station, potable water fill, hot showers, and laundry. Tims Ford State Park has similar amenities plus a marina and swimming pool. Normandy Lake area sites are typically water and electric, with a central dump station and lake access. Private parks often add WiFi and propane refills. For dumping and water fill between trips, the Henry Horton dump station is available to non-campers for a small fee. Pro tip: top off fresh water before leaving the campground, rural Bedford County has limited public fill stations, and your host will show you exactly how to do it at pickup.
tnstateparks.com/parks/henry-hortonWhat's inside a typical Shelbyville RV rental?
You'll be impressed by how complete most rentals are. A typical motorhome rental Shelbyville comes fully equipped with sleeping for 4 to 8 (queen bed, bunks, convertible dinette), a kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave, three-burner propane stove, and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate-controlled air conditioning and propane furnace, seatbelts for safe travel, and often a TV, Bluetooth stereo, and outdoor awning. Many include a generator for boondocking, leveling blocks, and starter kits with linens and kitchenware. WiFi varies, with some hosts offering mobile hotspots as an add-on. Pro tip: check the listing for a generator and a 30/50 amp adapter, both are clutch for hot Tennessee Augusts when you'll want the AC running nonstop.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Shelbyville%2C%20TennesseeWhat add-ons and pickup options are available?
You've got flexibility built into every booking. Popular add-ons from Shelbyville hosts include linen and kitchen kits ($25 to $75), generators ($15 to $40 per night), camping chairs and outdoor rugs ($10 to $25), bike racks, propane tank refills, and pet packages. Most hosts offer pickup at their location in or near Shelbyville and delivery to your campground for a per-mile fee. Mileage policies typically range from 100 free miles per night to unlimited, set per listing. Pickup and dropoff windows are usually mid-morning to early afternoon to allow for cleaning and walkthrough time. Pro tip: bundle add-ons when you book to save time, and ask about a generator add-on if you're heading to Bonnaroo or any non-hookup site near Normandy Lake.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Shelbyville%2C%20TennesseeHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is straightforward and secure. When you book your RV rental in Shelbyville TN through RVezy, you'll pay the rental fee, protection plan, host add-ons, and service fee right in the app with a credit or debit card. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup, not actually charged unless there's damage or a policy violation. The hold is released after the host completes the post-trip inspection. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos and a short video of the RV's interior and exterior at pickup and dropoff, it's the easiest way to keep your full deposit and start your next Shelbyville RV trip with zero hassle.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent a campervan in Shelbyville for Bonnaroo?
Yes, and it's one of the most popular reasons people search for a campervan rental Shelbyville. Bonnaroo's farm in Manchester is only about 30 miles southeast on I-24, making Shelbyville a smart staging base. Search RVezy for festival-friendly hosts, then book a Class B campervan or small Class C for easy in-and-out at Bonnaroo's RV lots. Many Shelbyville hosts will even deliver and set up so you skip the festival traffic crawl entirely. Pro tip: lock in your campervan by January or February for June's Bonnaroo, festival-friendly rentals within 30 miles of the farm are the first to book out every year, and delivery slots disappear even faster.
