Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Ingram, TX
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Ingram, TX?
RV rental in Ingram, TX is one of the more affordable ways to experience the Texas Hill Country, with most travel trailers starting around $90 to $150 per night and Class C motorhomes typically ranging from $175 to $275 per night. Booking midweek or during the shoulder seasons of late February through April or October through early December can shave 15 to 25 percent off your total. For a cheap RV rental in Ingram, filter by travel trailers and look for hosts who offer delivery, which lets you skip rental car costs from San Antonio International Airport (SAT), about 75 miles southeast. Pro tip: book at least 4 to 6 weeks ahead for July 4th and Memorial Day weekends, when riverside campgrounds along the Guadalupe fill fast.
kerrvilletexascvb.com/Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Ingram, TX?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Ingram, TX. Texas does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal RVs under 26,000 pounds, which covers nearly every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, and travel trailer on RVezy. You'll need to be 25 or older and complete a quick ID verification through the RVezy platform when you book. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home country driver's license along with an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto association. Most first-time renters in the Hill Country are pleasantly surprised by how simple the paperwork is, which means more time enjoying Old Ingram Loop and less time at a counter.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection is included with my Ingram RV rental?
Every RV rental in Ingram, TX booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head out on Highway 39 toward Hunt or Schumacher Crossing knowing help is just a phone call away. RVezy offers multiple protection plan tiers that you choose during checkout, and each one bundles physical damage protection with liability coverage and roadside support. Hosts do not select your coverage, you do. This is one of the real advantages of booking your motorhome rental in Ingram on RVezy: clear plan choices, transparent pricing, and no surprises at pickup. Pro tip: if you plan to tow tubes or kayaks for the Guadalupe River, review the higher-tier plans for added peace of mind.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Ingram RV trip?
Booking an RV rental in Ingram is low-risk because RVezy, not individual hosts, sets the cancellation policy across the platform. There is a grace-period window after booking where you can cancel for a full refund, and additional refund tiers apply based on how far in advance you cancel before your trip start date. Special circumstances like natural disasters, including the flash flooding the Guadalupe River is occasionally known for, are reviewed by RVezy's support team. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or offers credits so your Hill Country trip stays on track. Pro tip: review the current cancellation policy on RVezy's site before confirming, then lock in a booking 30 to 60 days out for the best campground availability with plenty of flexibility.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV trip from Ingram?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Ingram is easy to find on RVezy, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see motorhomes and travel trailers where dogs (and sometimes cats) are welcome. Ingram and the surrounding Hill Country are a dream for dog owners: Kerrville-Schreiner Park 12 miles south allows leashed pets on most trails, the Old Ingram Loop shops are dog-friendly outdoor strolls, and the Guadalupe River has shallow swimming spots perfect for water-loving pups. Many hosts ask for a small pet fee to cover extra cleaning, which is listed clearly on the listing page. Pro tip: pack a tie-out stake and a collapsible water bowl, since Hill Country summer afternoons can hit 95°F and your dog will appreciate shade at camp.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/kerrville-schreiner-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Ingram?
Yes, RV delivery in Ingram is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. Many hosts will drive the motorhome or travel trailer directly to your campsite at Johnson Creek RV Resort, Hill Country RV Resort, By The River RV Park, or even a private ranch rental, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. Delivery fees typically run $2 to $4 per mile from the host's location, and some hosts include free delivery within 20 miles. This is ideal if you're flying into San Antonio and want to skip towing entirely. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm delivery to your specific campground, since a few riverfront sites have tight access roads.
kerrvilletx.gov/How far can I drive on an Ingram RV trip?
You've got serious range from Ingram, and many RVezy listings include a daily mileage allowance of 100 to 150 miles, with some offering RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer Hill Country adventures. Popular drives from Ingram include Fredericksburg (33 miles east, about 45 minutes), Enchanted Rock State Natural Area (55 miles northeast, just over an hour), Garner State Park on the Frio River (60 miles southwest), Lost Maples State Natural Area (45 miles south near Vanderpool), and San Antonio (75 miles southeast). If your route goes long, just filter for unlimited-mileage listings or message hosts to add extra miles for a per-mile fee. Pro tip: the Twisted Sisters loop on Ranch Roads 335, 336, and 337 is a legendary Hill Country drive starting about an hour from Ingram.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/enchanted-rockWhere are the best campgrounds near Ingram, TX?
The best campgrounds near Ingram put you right in the heart of the Guadalupe River corridor. Johnson Creek RV Resort & Park on Junction Highway is a quiet, well-kept favorite with concrete pads and full hookups, just minutes from Old Ingram Loop. By The River RV Park & Campground offers direct Guadalupe River access for swimming and tubing. Hill Country RV Resort in nearby Kerrville has resort-style amenities and a pool, while Kerrville-Schreiner Park, run by the city, blends state-park-style hiking with full-hookup RV sites. For a true Hill Country immersion, Take-It-Easy RV Resort and Buckhorn Lake Resort are also nearby. Pro tip: riverside sites at By The River and Guadalupe Riverside Rentals book out months ahead for summer weekends, so reserve early.
kerrvilletx.gov/Facilities/Facility/Details/KerrvilleSchreiner-Park-3When is the best time of year for an Ingram RV trip?
The sweet spot for an Ingram RV trip is March through May and September through November, when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s to mid-80s and the Guadalupe River is at its most inviting. Spring brings bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush across the Hill Country, while October and November light up Lost Maples State Natural Area with rare Texas fall color. Summers (June to August) are hot, often climbing into the mid-90s, but that's also peak river-tubing season, so AC-equipped motorhomes are popular. Winters are mild with daytime highs in the 50s and 60s, perfect for a quiet getaway with fewer crowds. Pro tip: time a fall visit around the Kerrville Wine and Music Festival just down the road.
weather.gov/ewx/I've never rented an RV before. Is Ingram a good first-time destination?
Ingram is one of the friendliest places in Texas for first time renting an RV. The roads around town are wide, traffic is light, and Highway 27 connecting Ingram to Kerrville and Junction Highway out toward Hunt are smooth and easy to navigate. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering the generator, slide-outs, leveling, water hookups, and waste tanks, so you're never left guessing. Combined with the included 24/7 roadside assistance, you've got a real safety net. Pro tip: book a host who offers delivery to Johnson Creek RV Resort or Kerrville-Schreiner Park, park the RV once, and use it as a basecamp while you explore Stonehenge II, the Hill Country Arts Foundation, and the Guadalupe River by car.
txdot.gov/safety/driving-laws.htmlWhat happens if something breaks down during my Ingram RV trip?
You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so if you get a flat outside Hunt, an electrical issue at By The River RV Park, or any mechanical hiccup on the way to Lost Maples, one phone call gets help dispatched. Roadside assistance handles tire changes, jump-starts, fuel delivery, lockouts, and towing. For minor in-RV questions like how to switch the fridge from propane to electric, your host is your first call, and most Ingram-area hosts respond within minutes. RVezy's support team is also reachable throughout your trip. Pro tip: save both the roadside assistance number and your host's contact in your phone before you leave Ingram so help is always one tap away.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Ingram RV rental on an interstate road trip?
Yes, an RV road trip from Ingram opens up most of Texas and beyond. Popular multi-state loops head west to Big Bend National Park (about 6.5 hours), south to Padre Island National Seashore (5 hours), or north toward Palo Duro Canyon (8 hours). Cross-country travel within the US is generally welcome on RVezy listings, though some hosts cap total miles, so message the host before booking longer routes. Travel into Mexico is not allowed on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend across the border. Trips into other US states are usually fine with host approval. Pro tip: from Ingram, the most rewarding short cross-state trip is the loop through Fredericksburg wine country and Enchanted Rock, easily done in 3 to 4 days.
nps.gov/bibe/index.htmWhat kind of fuel mileage should I budget for around Ingram?
Budgeting fuel for your motorhome rental Ingram is straightforward. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class B campervans 16 to 20 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 mpg). Texas gas prices typically run below the national average, with stations in Kerrville and Ingram often 10 to 20 cents cheaper than coastal cities. A typical 4-day, 300-mile Hill Country loop in a Class C costs around $120 to $160 in fuel. Buc-ee's in Boerne (45 miles southeast on I-10) is a beloved Texas fuel stop with low prices and easy RV access. Pro tip: top up in Kerrville before heading west toward Garner State Park, since stations get sparse along the Frio River.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Ingram?
For the best campgrounds near Ingram, book 3 to 6 months ahead for summer weekends, spring break (mid-March), and fall foliage season at Lost Maples (late October to mid-November). Texas State Parks like Kerrville-Schreiner Park, Garner State Park, and Lost Maples take reservations through the official Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system up to 5 months in advance, and prime riverfront sites disappear within minutes of opening. Private parks like Johnson Creek RV Resort and By The River RV Park usually accept bookings 6 to 12 months out. For midweek or winter stays, 1 to 2 weeks ahead is often fine. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for the 5-month-out booking window if you're targeting Garner State Park during peak Frio River season.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/park-information/reservationsWhat are the driving conditions like around Ingram?
Driving an RV around Ingram is generally relaxed, with wide highways and light traffic outside of holiday weekends. Highway 27 between Kerrville and Ingram is flat and easy, while Highway 39 along the Guadalupe River toward Hunt is scenic with some narrow shoulders, so take it slow. The Twisted Sisters route (Ranch Roads 335, 336, 337) is gorgeous but features tight curves and steep grades better suited to Class B campervans than large Class A coaches. Watch for low-water crossings after Hill Country rain, since flash flooding can close roads quickly. Deer are common at dawn and dusk on rural roads. Pro tip: download offline maps before heading west of Ingram, since cell coverage thins out around Hunt and Mountain Home.
drivetexas.org/What amenities do campgrounds near Ingram offer?
RV camping Ingram is comfortable because most local parks offer full hookups, meaning 30/50-amp electric, fresh water, and sewer at your site. Johnson Creek RV Resort and Hill Country RV Resort include WiFi, laundry, and clean showers. Kerrville-Schreiner Park has water and electric sites plus a centralized dump station, with potable water fill points clearly marked. By The River RV Park offers direct Guadalupe River access along with full hookups. For dump stations between campgrounds, Walmart in Kerrville and many gas stations along I-10 have public options. Most parks also sell propane refills onsite. Pro tip: even if you have full hookups, top off fresh water before heading to Lost Maples or Garner State Park, where some sites are water-and-electric only without sewer.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/kerrville-schreiner-park/fees-facilitiesWhat's included inside a typical Ingram RV rental?
Most RVs you'll rent in Ingram come fully equipped for a turnkey trip. Expect a queen or king bed, convertible dinette and sofa beds (Class C motorhomes typically sleep 4 to 7), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave and sink, a private bathroom with shower and toilet, AC and heat, and seatbelted travel seats for everyone on board. Many listings throw in linens, cookware, outdoor chairs, and a propane grill, while higher-end rigs include onboard generators, solar, TVs, and WiFi hotspots. Campervan rental Ingram options like Class B Sprinters are perfect for couples wanting a nimble rig for Twisted Sisters drives. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities list and message the host to confirm specifics like coffee maker or kid-friendly extras before you book.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-safetyWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about for renting in Ingram?
Hosts in Ingram offer plenty of flexibility to customize your rent an RV in Ingram experience. Common add-ons include linen and kitchen kits ($30 to $75), bike racks, kayak or tube rentals for the Guadalupe River, generators for off-grid Hill Country stays, and pet cleaning fees. Mileage policies typically include 100 to 150 free miles per night, with extra miles at $0.35 to $0.50 each, and a growing number of hosts offer unlimited mileage packages. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Ingram, Kerrville, or surrounding Hill Country towns, with delivery available to most campgrounds for a per-mile fee. Pro tip: bundle add-ons during booking, since hosts often discount packages compared to a-la-carte requests at pickup.
txdmv.gov/motorists/buying-or-selling-a-vehicle/rv-informationHow do payments and security deposits work for an Ingram RV rental?
Payment for your RV rental in Texas through RVezy is straightforward and handled securely through the platform, so you never exchange cash with the host. You pay the trip total at booking, and a refundable security deposit (separate from your booking payment) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup, not charged. As long as you return the RV in the same condition, full tank, and within mileage, the hold is released after your trip ends. To avoid any deposit issues, take date-stamped photos of the RV at pickup and dropoff, dump the tanks before return if required, and refuel at a station in Ingram or Kerrville on your way back. Pro tip: review the listing's return checklist before pickup so there are no surprises.
