This camper was exactly as described. It had all of the items we needed during an eight day stay—towels, rags, utensils, paper towels, trash bags, cutting boards, paper plates, linens, comforters, pillows, etc. It also smelled perfectly new and was extremely clean. Charles was patient with us as it took us longer to get to our destination than originally planned, but he showed us how everything worked and where things were located and made sure to answer any questions we had. It was set up perfectly and we had zero issues. We had an excellent time and will definitely book again if the opportunity arises. Thanks Charles!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Stockdale, TX

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Stockdale, TX?

RV rental in Stockdale is one of the more affordable ways to explore South Texas. On RVezy, expect roughly $75 to $150 per night for travel trailers, $125 to $225 for Class C motorhomes, and $200 to $350 for larger Class A coaches. Travel trailers are the cheap RV rental Stockdale option if you already have a truck, or you can book one with delivery included. To save more, book midweek, travel during the shoulder months of March or October when daytime highs sit in the 70s and 80s, and use the price filter to sort by best value. Many Stockdale-area hosts also include extras like camp chairs or outdoor mats at no added cost, which adds real value once you compare listings side by side.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Stockdale, TX?

For nearly every RV you can rent in Stockdale, your regular Class C Texas driver's license (or your home-state equivalent) is all you need. Texas only requires a non-commercial Class A or B license for personal RVs with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating over 26,000 pounds, and the travel trailers, campervans, Class B vans, and Class C motorhomes that dominate RVezy listings near Stockdale fall well under that. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older with a valid driver's license, and ID is verified inside the booking flow. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home license and you are set to roll.

What protection comes with my Stockdale RV rental?

You are covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Stockdale on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so a flat tire on US-87 or a dead battery at Choke Canyon State Park is just a phone call away. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV during your trip, and during checkout you choose the level that best fits your comfort, from a standard option for budget-minded renters to upgraded tiers for more peace of mind. It gives you real financial protection so you can focus on the fun, like floating the San Marcos River at nearby Palmetto State Park.

What if I need to cancel my Stockdale RV trip?

Booking is low risk. RVezy, not the host, sets the cancellation policy for every RV rental in Stockdale booking, and there is a grace-period window after you book where you can cancel for a full refund. After that, what you get back depends on how far out you cancel from your trip start date. Because the policy is handled platform-wide, you will not see a separate cancellation policy on each listing. Book early to lock in summer or Texas Independence Day weekend pricing, knowing the grace period has your back if plans shift.

Can I bring my dog on a Stockdale RV rental?

Absolutely, and you have plenty of options. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to instantly pull up every pet-friendly RV rental Stockdale hosts allow, from small campervans to family-sized Class C motorhomes. Once you arrive, your pup will love the wide-open spaces: Palmetto State Park and Choke Canyon State Park welcome leashed dogs on the trails and at campsites, and most local RV parks are pet-friendly too. Just clean up after them and keep them off park buildings. Message the host before booking to ask about pet fees and any size limits, and pack a collapsible bowl since South Texas heat means your dog will be drinking a lot of water.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite near Stockdale?

Yes, and it is the easiest way to start your trip. RV delivery Stockdale is offered by many hosts on RVezy, meaning the owner will tow or drive the RV straight to Palmetto State Park, Choke Canyon State Park, a private ranch, or your driveway in Stockdale, La Vernia, or Seguin. They will level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Toggle the Delivery filter when you search to see hosts who offer it. Delivery is especially great for first-time renters and larger motorhomes because you skip the highway drive entirely and enjoy the campsite the moment you arrive.

How far can I drive on a Stockdale RV trip?

Stockdale is a fantastic launchpad for a Texas RV trip because so many iconic destinations sit within an easy day's drive. San Antonio and the River Walk are about 40 miles west (under an hour), Austin is around 90 miles north, Corpus Christi and the Gulf beaches are roughly 140 miles southeast, Padre Island National Seashore is about 170 miles, and Big Bend National Park is a bigger 430-mile adventure west. Each RVezy host sets their own mileage policy, ranging from 100 free miles per night to RV rental with unlimited mileage, so filter or message hosts that match your route. For a relaxed RV road trip from Stockdale, plan no more than 200 miles between stops so you can actually enjoy the scenery.

Where can I stay with my RV near Stockdale, TX?

You have great campgrounds within an easy drive of town. For state-park magic, Palmetto State Park near Luling (about 35 miles north) has shaded RV sites with water and electric along the San Marcos River, while Choke Canyon State Park (about 75 miles south) offers lakeside sites with hookups. Closer to home, RV parks in nearby Seguin and Floresville offer full hookups, 30/50 amp, laundry, and showers. Some of the best campgrounds near Stockdale fill up fast for holiday weekends, so book your campsite the same day you book your RV on RVezy.

When is the best time to visit Stockdale, TX in an RV?

The smart-money window for RV camping Stockdale is mid-October through early May, when daytime highs sit in a comfortable 65 to 85 degree range and nights cool into the 40s and 50s. Spring (March to May) brings Texas wildflowers including bluebonnets along the back roads, and fall offers crisp mornings perfect for a campfire. Summer is doable but intense: July and August routinely hit 95 to 100 degrees with high humidity, so plan for full-hookup sites where you can run the air conditioning nonstop. Winter is surprisingly mild with January highs near 60 degrees, making it a popular snowbird season. Book a shoulder-season Stockdale RV trip and you will get better pricing plus cooler hikes at Palmetto State Park.

I have never driven an RV. Will I be okay in Stockdale?

You will absolutely be okay, and Stockdale is one of the friendliest places in Texas to learn. Roads here are wide, flat, and uncrowded, with US-87 and TX-123 being straightforward two-lane highways perfect for first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering the generator, water systems, slide-outs, and dumping, and they are reachable by message throughout your trip. If you are still nervous, choose a Class B campervan or small travel trailer, or book a host who offers delivery so you never have to drive it on the highway at all. Do a 10-minute practice loop in an empty lot in Stockdale before heading out and your confidence will soar.

What happens if something goes wrong on the road?

Help is one phone call away, day or night. Every motorhome rental Stockdale booking on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and fuel delivery, so even a hiccup on a back road between Stockdale and Floresville turns into a minor blip. RVezy's customer support team is also available before, during, and after your trip if anything else comes up, from a stubborn slide-out to a question about the awning. Your host is just a message away in the app too. Snap a quick photo of your roadside assistance number and save it to your phone's lock screen the day you pick up the RV.

Can I take my Stockdale RV rental across state lines or into Mexico?

Cross-state travel is generally welcomed on an RV road trip from Stockdale, so heading into Louisiana for Cajun country, New Mexico for White Sands, or Oklahoma is usually fine; just confirm specifics with your host before you book. Travel into Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection coverage stop at the U.S. border. Popular legal routes include Stockdale to South Padre Island (about 260 miles), Stockdale to Big Bend National Park (430 miles), and the Texas Hill Country wine loop through Fredericksburg (about 130 miles). Message the host directly from the listing page to confirm your route, then note the trip plan in your booking so everyone is aligned.

What kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?

Fuel is easier to budget than most people think. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes typically 8 to 12 MPG, and large Class A coaches 6 to 10 MPG; travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle but expect a 20 to 30 percent dip from normal. Texas gas prices tend to run below the national average, and Stockdale has stations on US-87 with truck-friendly pumps. For a typical 300-mile family RV trip Stockdale loop in a Class C, budget around $120 to $160 for fuel. Fill up in Stockdale or Seguin before heading to remote spots like Choke Canyon, where stations are sparse and prices climb.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book a campground near Stockdale?

Booking ahead is the single best move you can make. Texas State Parks like Palmetto and Choke Canyon take reservations up to five months out through the official Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system, and they regularly fill for spring weekends, summer holidays, and Thanksgiving. For private parks in the area, two to four weeks ahead is usually plenty outside of holidays. If you are timing your trip with Luling's Watermelon Thump in late June or Gonzales' Come and Take It celebration in October, lock in your site three months out. Book the RV first on RVezy, then confirm where to park an RV in Stockdale at the campground of your choice the same day.

What is driving like around Stockdale?

You will love the driving conditions here. Stockdale sits in flat-to-gently-rolling South Texas ranchland at about 489 feet of elevation, with wide rural highways like US-87, US-181, and TX-123 that are well-paved and easy for any size rig. Traffic is light outside of school commuting hours, and you are 30 to 40 minutes from San Antonio's loop highways if you want a city day. Watch for two real local hazards: deer at dawn and dusk along ranch roads, and fast-moving thunderstorms from May through September that can drop heavy rain in 20 minutes. If a storm pops up, pull off into a Stockdale gas station or rest area, wait 30 minutes, and the Texas sun usually comes right back.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Stockdale?

Most campgrounds near Stockdale come well-equipped. Private parks in the area typically offer full hookups (water, sewer, and 30/50 amp electric), Wi-Fi, laundry, hot showers, and dump stations on site. Texas State Parks at Palmetto and Choke Canyon provide water and electric at RV sites plus centralized dump stations and potable water fill stations near the entrance. If you need to dump or refill between stops, truck stops in Seguin and several Buc-ee's locations within an hour have RV-friendly access. Top off fresh water and dump tanks before leaving any state park, since the next reliable station may be 40 miles down the road.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/choke-canyon/fees-facilities/campsites

What is included inside the RV itself?

Stockdale-area RVs come ready to camp. Expect a full kitchen with a fridge, freezer, propane stove, microwave, sink, pots and pans, and basic dishware; a bathroom with a toilet, shower, and sink; and comfortable sleeping for 2 to 8 depending on the floor plan. Most listings include air conditioning (crucial in Texas), heat, a TV, and an onboard generator or shore power capability. Many hosts also offer Wi-Fi hotspots, outdoor camp chairs, and a Bluetooth speaker. Federal law requires seatbelts for everyone riding down the highway, so confirm the seated-seatbelt count matches your group when booking. Campervan rental Stockdale options are perfect for couples, while families should look at Class C bunkhouse models that sleep six comfortably.

What add-ons and pickup details should I know about?

RVezy hosts in the Stockdale area offer plenty of useful add-ons to make your trip easier. Common extras include linen and kitchen packages ($25 to $75), bike racks, generator hours, propane fills, portable grills, outdoor patio mats, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Stockdale, Floresville, La Vernia, or nearby, with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough included. Mileage policies vary: many hosts offer 100 free miles per night with a small per-mile fee after that, while others advertise unlimited mileage for road-trippers. All terms appear on the listing page before you book. Bundle delivery with a setup package and your only job at the campsite is opening a folding chair and pouring a drink.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is straightforward and secure. When you book a campervan rental Stockdale or any other RV on RVezy, you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card, and your money is held safely until your trip begins. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card a few days before pickup, not actually charged, and released after you return the RV in good shape with the tanks handled per the listing. To avoid any deposit issues, take date-stamped photos at pickup and dropoff, refill fuel and propane to the starting level, and dump tanks if your host requests it. Do the pre-trip photo walkaround with the host present so everyone agrees on the starting condition.

How do I handle the South Texas summer heat in my RV?

Summer in Stockdale is hot, but it is very manageable with the right plan. July and August routinely hit 95 to 100 degrees with heat indexes that can climb past 110, so book a Stockdale RV trip with strong roof air conditioning and reserve full-hookup 50-amp sites at a private RV park so you can run AC 24/7 without worrying about battery drain. Drive in the morning when temps are in the 70s, park in shade when possible, and keep window shades drawn during peak afternoon. Hydrate constantly, and cool off in the San Marcos River at Palmetto State Park. For the same scenery at half the sweat, book April, October, or November.
