Jacob was great to work with, the rv was great, simple to set up and operate. Everything needed to hook up water, elect, and sewer was provided, plus some. We towed with a Dodge 2500 4dr, 8’ bed Cummins diesel, towed like a dream with a straight hitch even in the west Texas winds from Arlington TX to Ruisoso NM and back. I was very happy with the RV, and the owner. 5 stars

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in University Park, TX?

Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in University Park for virtually every motorhome, campervan, and travel trailer on RVezy. Texas only requires a non-commercial Class A or B license for personal RVs with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating over 26,000 pounds, and the vast majority of rentals fall well under that threshold. Approved drivers on RVezy are generally 25 or older, and you'll upload your license through RVezy's quick ID verification step during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets a consistent cancellation policy across the platform, so you're not at the mercy of individual host rules. Delivery fees are set by each host based on distance and RV size, and the option is shown clearly on the listing. Filter listings by Delivery on RVezy, then message a couple of hosts to compare flat-fee delivery quotes for your exact address.

How far can I drive on an RV road trip from University Park?

University Park sits right in the heart of DFW, which makes it an incredible launchpad for an RV road trip from University Park to almost anywhere in Texas. Austin is about 195 miles south on I-35 (roughly 3 hours), Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas is around 320 miles east, Big Bend National Park is a scenic 575-mile journey west, and the Gulf Coast at Galveston is about 290 miles southeast. Each host sets their own mileage policy, often 100 to 150 free miles per night, and some offer an RV rental with unlimited mileage. Confirm the package up front so you can plan fuel and routing without second-guessing.

Where are the best campgrounds near University Park, TX?

You're spoiled for choice with the best campgrounds near University Park, all within an easy drive of the Park Cities. Cedar Hill State Park (about 25 miles southwest on Joe Pool Lake) offers water and electric sites with lake views. Lake Tawakoni State Park (about 60 miles east) is a quiet pick with waterfront sites. The Vineyards Campground on Grapevine Lake is a local favorite for sunsets and easy DFW Airport access. Dallas/Arlington KOA Holiday is big-rig friendly with a pool and dog park. For Texas State Parks, use the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system, sites release five months in advance and lake-view spots go fast.

When is the best time for an RV trip from University Park?

Spring (mid-March through May) and fall (late September through early November) are the sweet spots for RV camping in University Park and the broader Dallas area. Daytime highs sit in the comfortable 65 to 80°F range, wildflowers bloom across the Hill Country, and humidity is manageable. Summers in Dallas regularly hit 95 to 105°F, so if you travel June through August, look for an RV with a strong roof-mounted air conditioner and book campgrounds with shaded sites or pools. Winters are mild (40s to 60s) and a quiet, budget-friendly time for a Texas RV escape, just pack a jacket for occasional cold snaps.

I've never driven an RV before, will I be okay?

Yes, and you're in good company, many RVezy guests in University Park are first-time renters. Every host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, leveling, hookups, water, propane, and the awning so you leave feeling confident. If you'd rather skip driving entirely your first time, choose a host who offers delivery and setup at your campground. Stick to a Class C motorhome or travel trailer for a manageable first time renting an RV, and use I-635 or the President George Bush Turnpike for practice on wide, flat roads before heading out to the Hill Country. Your host's number is in the app for any quick questions along the way.

What happens if the RV breaks down during my Dallas trip?

You're never on your own, every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan. Whether you get a flat on US-75 near downtown Dallas, a dead battery at Cedar Hill State Park, or a tire issue heading west on I-20, one phone call dispatches help. Your host is also your direct line for quick questions about the RV's systems, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Save both numbers in your phone before pickup. North Texas has plenty of RV service shops, so even on a holiday weekend, getting back on the road is usually straightforward.

Can I take my RV rental across state lines or to Mexico?

Yes, you can cross state lines on your RV rental in University Park, TX. Popular routes head to Oklahoma's Lake Murray (about 2 hours north), New Mexico's Carlsbad Caverns (about 8 hours west), or Louisiana's Cajun Country (about 5 hours east). Travel to Canada may be allowed depending on the host and trip length, so message them before booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection coverage end at the U.S. border. South Padre Island and Big Bend on the Texas side of the border are spectacular alternatives that keep you fully covered.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Texas RV trip?

Texas typically has some of the most affordable fuel prices in the country, which keeps a University Park RV trip budget-friendly. Check current Dallas-area prices on the EIA fuel tracker before you go, with diesel usually running a bit higher than regular unleaded. Class C motorhomes get around 8 to 10 MPG, Class B campervans 15 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. For a 500-mile loop from University Park to Austin and back in a midsize motorhome, plan to budget for roughly 50 to 65 gallons of fuel. Buc-ee's and Costco off the major Texas highways consistently have competitive prices and clean restrooms.

How far in advance should I reserve a campsite near University Park?

For Texas State Parks like Cedar Hill, Ray Roberts Lake, and Lake Tawakoni, reservations open five months in advance through the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system, and prime weekends (March to May, October to November) can sell out within hours. Private parks like Dallas/Arlington KOA and The Vineyards on Grapevine Lake typically book 2 to 4 weeks ahead for weekends, longer for holidays or State Fair weekends. Weeknights almost always have availability, so a Sunday-through-Thursday Dallas RV trip is the easiest way to snag a great site last minute, often at lower rates too.

What are local driving conditions like around University Park?

Driving an RV around University Park is very manageable: the streets in the Park Cities are flat, wide, and well-maintained. Watch for low clearances on older underpasses near Deep Ellum and Oak Cliff (some as low as 11 feet) and avoid the lower deck of I-30 downtown. Stick to outer loops like I-635 (LBJ Freeway), the President George Bush Turnpike, and US-75 for easier RV navigation. Rush hour (roughly 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m.) on Central Expressway is heavy, so plan pickups and departures outside those windows. Spring storms can bring hail, so check the forecast and use covered parking when possible.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near University Park?

Campgrounds near University Park are well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Most DFW-area RV parks like Treetops RV Resort, The Vineyards Campground, and Dallas/Arlington KOA offer full hookups (20/30/50 amp electric, water, and sewer), Wi-Fi, laundry, pools, and dog runs. Texas State Parks like Cedar Hill and Ray Roberts typically offer water and electric sites with a centralized dump station rather than full hookups at each site. For fresh water fills and dump stations between trips, the dump station at Cedar Hill State Park and several Pilot/Flying J truck stops along I-35 are reliable options. Always confirm site length, most North Texas parks accommodate rigs up to 40 feet or longer.

What features and amenities come with University Park RV rentals?

RV rentals in University Park come well-equipped with everything you need to feel at home on the road. Most listings include a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave), a bathroom with shower, comfortable sleeping for 2 to 8 people, roof air conditioning (critical for Texas summers), heating, and seatbelts for travel. Many Dallas-area hosts offer extras like generators for boondocking, outdoor grills, bike racks, Wi-Fi hotspots, and starter kits with linens and kitchenware. TVs and Bluetooth speakers are common in newer rigs. Review the listing's amenities tab carefully, and message the host with any must-haves so they can confirm before you book.

What add-ons and options should I expect when booking?

Most University Park hosts offer a menu of optional add-ons that make your trip smoother: delivery and setup, generator use, linen and kitchen kits, bike racks, camp chairs, outdoor mats, and propane refills. Mileage policies vary, expect around 100 to 150 free miles per night with overage fees per mile, or look specifically for unlimited-mileage listings if you're planning a long Texas loop. Pickup is usually at the host's home in the Dallas metro, and many offer flexible morning pickup and evening drop-off windows. All add-ons and fees are clearly listed on each RVezy listing, so there are no surprises at checkout.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment for your University Park RV rental is handled securely through the RVezy platform, with no cash or off-platform transfers to the host. You'll pay your rental total through RVezy when you book, and a refundable security deposit is placed as a separate hold on your card a few days before pickup. The deposit is released after the trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. To avoid any deposit issues, do a thorough walk-through with the host at pickup, take date-stamped photos of the exterior and interior, and follow the dump and refuel instructions in your handoff. Smooth in, smooth out.

How do I beat the Texas summer heat in an RV near Dallas?

Dallas summers are hot, with July and August routinely hitting 100°F or more, but a smart campervan rental University Park trip stays comfortable with a few easy moves. Book an RV with a 13,500 BTU or larger rooftop AC (most Class C motorhomes have it) and reserve campsites with 50-amp service so you can run AC and appliances together without tripping breakers. Drive in the early morning or after sunset to spare the engine and your fuel bill. Choose shaded sites at parks like Cedar Hill or Ray Roberts Lake, and consider shoulder-season trips in April or October for the same fun without the peak heat. Hydrate, sunscreen, repeat.
