2024 Forest River Travel Trailer
The camper was absolutely perfect for our family of five! It was spotless, well-organized, and stocked with all the basic necessities, including toilet paper, soap, dishes, towels, and more. I’m a bit of a neat freak, so I really appreciated how clean and thoughtfully organized everything was. The hosts were wonderful to work with—communication was easy, and they were incredibly accommodating. They handled both the delivery and pickup of the camper, so the only thing our family had to focus on was having a great time. We had an amazing experience and would definitely rent from them again!

Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental Mount Horeb options are plentiful on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see motorhomes and travel trailers where dogs (and sometimes cats) are welcome. Your four-legged co-pilot will love the area too: Stewart Park's wooded trails right in town, the 40-mile Military Ridge State Trail for long leashed walks, and Blue Mound State Park's pet-friendly hiking loops are all easy wins. Most state park campgrounds in Wisconsin allow pets on a leash up to 6 feet, except in designated swim areas. dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/rulesCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Mount Horeb?
Yes, RV delivery in Mount Horeb is one of the best perks for first-timers. Many RVezy hosts will drive the RV to your campsite at Blue Mound State Park, a private property, or another nearby campground, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before handing you the keys. Use the Delivery filter when searching, then message the host with your destination address so they can quote a delivery fee (often based on mileage from their location). It's a great option if you're flying into Dane County Regional Airport (MSN) and don't want to drive a large rig your first day. Pro tip: bundle delivery with a full setup package so you can skip handling the sewer hose.

From Mount Horeb you can easily reach Madison (20 miles), Wisconsin Dells (70 miles), Devil's Lake State Park (60 miles), Door County (about 200 miles), and Chicago (155 miles) without breaking the bank. Yellowstone Lake State Park (about 35 miles south) is great for boating. New Glarus Woods State Park (about 20 miles southeast) is steps from New Glarus Brewing Company. For full hookups, private parks in the Madison area are solid picks. Pro tip: Wisconsin state park sites book fast, so reserve early through the DNR's reservation system.
dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parksWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Mount Horeb?
Late May through mid-October is the sweet spot for RV camping Mount Horeb travelers love, with summer highs typically in the upper 70s to mid-80s F and overnight lows in the 50s and 60s. September and early October are arguably the best, with fewer mosquitoes, peak Driftless Area fall colors, and apple-picking at nearby orchards. Winters can drop well below freezing and snow is common, but adventurous renters can still book four-season rigs for the February Scandihoovian Winter Festival. Pro tip: spring (mid-April to late May) brings wildflowers along the Military Ridge State Trail and some of the lowest rental rates of the year.
weather.gov/mkx/I've never rented an RV before. Will I actually be able to drive it?
Yes, and most first-time renters are amazed at how quickly it clicks. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, covering driving, leveling, propane, water, generator, dump procedures, and slide-outs, so you're never left guessing. Mount Horeb's rural setting is actually ideal for first-timers: the gently rolling Driftless Region roads, the open Highway 18/151 bypass, and quiet county routes through Blue Mounds let you build confidence without big-city traffic. If you're nervous, start with a Class B campervan or a 20-foot travel trailer, both easy to handle. Pro tip: ask your host to ride with you to the end of the block, or book delivery and skip driving the rig entirely on day one.
wisconsindot.gov/Pages/safety/safety-eng/safe-driving.aspxWhat happens if my RV breaks down on a Wisconsin road trip?
You're never stranded. Every Mount Horeb RV rental on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so one phone call brings help for flat tires, lockouts, dead batteries, or towing, whether you're parked at Cave of the Mounds, cruising Highway 14 toward Spring Green, or exploring the Kickapoo Valley. Your host is also just a message away through the RVezy app for quick questions about how a specific system works. Pro tip: snap photos of your RV's appliance brands and the propane tank during the pickup walkthrough so you have details handy if you need parts or troubleshooting on the road.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take a Mount Horeb RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Cross-state travel is totally fine and very popular: from Mount Horeb you're well-positioned for an RV road trip from Mount Horeb into Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, or all the way to the Black Hills. Cross-border travel into Canada is allowed by many RVezy hosts but depends on the individual listing and protection coverage, so message the host before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because protection coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: popular multi-state loops from Mount Horeb include the Great River Road along the Mississippi (Iowa/Minnesota), the Door County peninsula, and a Northwoods loop through Hayward and Lake Superior.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goWhat's the fuel budget for an RV trip around Mount Horeb?
Wisconsin gas prices typically run near or slightly below the national average, which keeps a Mount Horeb RV trip very budget-friendly. Plan on roughly 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG) for a Class C motorhome, 10 to 14 MPG for a campervan, and around 12 to 16 MPG for a truck or SUV towing a travel trailer. A weekend loop to Devil's Lake, New Glarus, and back (about 200 miles) usually runs $50 to $90 in fuel. Diesel rigs go further on a tank but cost a bit more per gallon. Pro tip: fill up in Mount Horeb or Verona before heading into rural Iowa County, where stations are sparse and prices climb a few cents.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Mount Horeb?
For Wisconsin state parks like Blue Mound, Governor Dodge, and Yellowstone Lake, book as early as possible: reservations open 11 months in advance through the Wisconsin DNR's reservation system, and prime summer weekends (especially July 4 and Labor Day) fill quickly. Private campgrounds near Mount Horeb and Madison usually open 6 to 12 months out and are slightly more flexible. For shoulder-season trips in May or October, you can often grab a site 2 to 4 weeks ahead. Pro tip: if your dates are locked but the campground is full, monitor the Wisconsin DNR reservation system for cancellations, which open daily.
dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/camping/reservationsWhat are the driving conditions like around Mount Horeb?
Driving conditions around Mount Horeb are some of the most enjoyable in the Midwest. The Driftless Region's rolling hills mean curvy two-lane roads like Highway 78 and County Highway JG, where you'll want to take corners slow in a big rig but otherwise cruise comfortably. Highway 18/151 bypasses town and gives you a wide-shouldered 65 mph route straight into Madison. Winter brings snow and occasional ice from December through March, so check 511wi.gov for road conditions if you're traveling off-season. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk year-round, especially on County Highway ID. Pro tip: avoid driving through downtown Madison during Badgers football Saturdays; use the Beltline (US-12/18) instead.

Campgrounds near Mount Horeb range from full-hookup private parks to rustic state park sites. Wisconsin state parks like Blue Mound and Governor Dodge offer electric hookups (typically 20/30-amp), potable water fill stations, flush toilets, hot showers, and dump stations, but generally no individual water or sewer at each site. Private parks in the Madison area usually offer full 30/50-amp hookups, Wi-Fi, and laundry. Public dump stations and fresh-water fills are available at Blue Mound and Governor Dodge State Parks. Pro tip: stock up on groceries in Mount Horeb or Verona before heading to camp, especially if you're heading west into rural Iowa County.

Expect a queen or king bed, additional sleeping for 4 to 8 depending on size, a full kitchen with fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, a wet or dry bathroom with toilet and shower, dining area, air conditioning, furnace, and a roof-mounted or onboard generator on many Class C and Class A units. Seatbelts are required for every passenger while moving, so confirm sleeps-vs-seatbelt counts on the listing. Wi-Fi and TVs are common but vary, so check the amenities tab. Pro tip: ask the host if linens, towels, and a stocked kitchen kit are included; many bundle them free.

Mileage policies vary by listing, with some hosts offering unlimited miles for in-state Wisconsin travel. Pro tip: bundle delivery with a propane top-off and a dump-and-fill service at the end of your trip to skip the messiest parts of RVing and enjoy your campervan rental Mount Horeb experience that much more.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Mount%20Horeb%2C%20WisconsinHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card during booking, and the host never sees your card details. A security deposit is placed as a hold on your card (separate from your booking payment) before pickup and released after the trip ends, assuming no damage or excess cleaning. The deposit amount varies by listing and RV class. Trip costs include your nightly rate, the RVezy service fee, your selected protection plan, and any host add-ons like delivery or generator use. Pro tip: do a thorough pre-trip walkaround video with your host showing the RV's condition inside and out. It's the best way to ensure a fast deposit release.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat are the best RV road trip destinations from Mount Horeb?
Mount Horeb is a perfect launchpad for a family RV trip Mount Horeb travelers rave about. Top routes include: Wisconsin Dells (70 miles, about 75 minutes) for waterparks and the Wisconsin River; Devil's Lake State Park (60 miles) for the state's most photographed bluffs; Door County (about 200 miles, 3.5 hours) for cherry orchards and Lake Michigan lighthouses; Mississippi River's Great River Road through La Crosse and Prairie du Chien (90 to 130 miles) for bluff-top overlooks; and Spring Green (25 miles) for Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin and the House on the Rock. Pro tip: a 4-day loop hitting Governor Dodge, Spring Green, and the Great River Road is the ultimate Driftless sampler and stays within 200 miles of home base.
