Campgrounds and RV parks near Cloridorme, QC

The headline attraction east of Cloridorme is Forillon National Park, where cliffs drop into the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and trails overlook Baie de Gaspé. Popular hikes include Les Graves, which ends at Land's End at the tip of the peninsula, the short La Chute waterfall trail, and the climb up Mont-Saint-Alban. Whale watching is possible from shore, and boat tours depart from the Grande-Grave wharf inside the park. Inland, Parc national de la Gaspésie protects most of the Chic-Choc range, with more than thirty peaks above 1,000 metres including Mont Jacques-Cartier at 1,268 metres, and offers chances to spot the woodland caribou herd that lives on the higher plateaus. Closer to Cloridorme itself, the coastline offers beachcombing, sea kayaking, and stops at small fishing harbours along Route 132.

Most private campgrounds along Route 132 follow a similar pattern, opening in late May or June and closing in September or early October once nighttime temperatures drop. July and August are the peak weeks: warmest weather, longest days, whale-watching boats running, and the highest demand for sites. Reservations should be locked in well in advance for these months. Late June and early September are quieter shoulder periods with cooler nights but full park services still operating. September daytime highs average around 16°C with regular rain, and fall colour peaks across the Chic-Chocs from late September into early October. Winter visits are limited: most campgrounds are closed, Route 132 stays open but is exposed to gulf storms, and Forillon's serviced campgrounds shut down, though some trails remain accessible without maintenance.

Cloridorme is rural and remote. Cell service is patchy along stretches of Route 132, grocery selection in the village is limited, and the nearest full-service towns are Grande-Vallée to the west and Gaspé to the east. RV travellers should top up fuel, water, and groceries before pushing into the more isolated north-shore segments. French is the primary language in most of the area, though staff at tourist-facing campgrounds often speak some English. Expect coastal weather: cool mornings, frequent fog along the gulf, and wind off the water even in summer. Sites at smaller campgrounds tend to be open and lawn-like rather than heavily treed, with gulf views as the main draw. Black flies and mosquitoes are common in late spring and early summer, so bring repellent.
