Campgrounds and RV parks near Sept-Iles, QC

Sept-Îles sits on the Côte-Nord, a remote stretch of Quebec coastline along the Gulf of St. Lawrence roughly 650 km northeast of Quebec City. RV travel here is shaped by Route 138, the lone highway that links the region to the rest of the province, and by long distances between services. Most campgrounds in the area cluster along the highway between Baie-Trinité, Port-Cartier, and Sept-Îles itself. The two closest options to the city are very different in character. Lac Walker - Port Cartier Reserve sits inside the Réserve faunique de Port-Cartier-Sept-Îles, located 27 km north of Port-Cartier, with serviced, semi-serviced, and unserviced sites on Lac Walker, officially recognized as the deepest lake in Quebec at 280 metres. Camping Domaine Ensoleille 2000, located about 10 km east of Baie-Trinité in the Îlets-Caribou sector, is a seaside campground on the Whale Route with a fine sand beach and panoramic views of the St. Lawrence. Together they cover the two trip styles most renters look for: backcountry lake or oceanfront.

Lac Walker - Port Cartier Reserve is operated by Sépaq, Quebec's provincial parks and wildlife reserves agency, and bookings are made through the Sépaq reservation system online or by phone. Sépaq sites for the upcoming summer typically open for reservation in the winter, and prime weekends in July and August can sell out quickly after opening, so set a reminder. Camping Domaine Ensoleille 2000 takes reservations directly through its own website and by phone. For RV renters, confirm site length, electrical service level, and whether sewer is available before booking; Domaine Ensoleille offers 30-amp electrical service and a waste-water dump. The Lac Walker access road is roughly 28 km of gravel from Route 138, so towables and larger motorhomes should plan for slow, careful driving.
