Campgrounds and RV parks near Grande-Vallée, QC

The main draw is Forillon National Park, about an hour east by RV. Popular hiking routes include Les Graves, which leads to Land's End at the Gaspé's tip, the short La Chute waterfall trail, and the climb up Mont-Saint-Alban with views across La Gaspésie. Whale watching is possible from shore or by tour from the park's Grande-Grave wharf, and the Grande-Grave heritage site preserves local fishing history. Inland, the Chic-Choc mountains and Parc national de la Gaspésie offer alpine hiking, including the Mont Albert loop. The International Appalachian Trail connects to the tip of Forillon and crosses the Chic-Choc range, with long-distance segments accessible as day hikes. Closer to the village, the Pont couvert Galipeault covered bridge and shoreline lookouts on Route 132 are short stops between campgrounds.

The RV season in the Gaspé runs roughly late May through mid-October. Forillon National Park campgrounds normally open for the season in late May or early June and close in mid-October, with exact dates varying by campground. Private campgrounds around Grande-Vallée follow similar windows, with the busiest period falling between late June and mid-August when Quebec's construction holiday drives peak demand. Late June through August brings the warmest weather, the most reliable whale watching off Forillon, and the highest site occupancy. September delivers cooler nights, lighter traffic on Route 132, and strong fall colour through the Chic-Chocs, though services begin to thin as businesses close. By October most campgrounds have shut down and daylight hours shorten quickly. Winter is not a practical season for RV camping in the area: Route 132 stays open, but campgrounds, fuel stops in small villages, and most attractions close until spring.

Expect a long drive in and a quiet, small-village base. Grande-Vallée is several hours east of Quebec City along Route 132, and cell coverage thins between settlements. Private campgrounds in the area tend to be modest in size, with sites that can be tight for larger Class A rigs but workable for Class C and travel trailers; many sit directly above the shoreline with Gulf of St. Lawrence views.
