Campgrounds and RV parks near Elysburg, PA

Knoebels Amusement Resort anchors any trip. It is one of the country's largest free-admission amusement parks, with wooden coasters, a historic carousel, the Crystal Pool, arcades, and the Three Ponds Golf Course on site. Campground guests staying at Knoebels Resort and Campground or Knoebels Lake Glory Campground get a complimentary shuttle to the park entrance. Beyond the park, the Susquehanna River and Fishing Creek support kayaking, tubing, and fishing. Indian Head Campground sits at the confluence of the two waterways on roughly 35 acres, with a boat ramp on site. Lake Glory has a stocked five-acre lake open to camper fishing with a daily pass from the camp store. Bloomsburg, about ten miles north, offers additional dining, shopping, and access to state game lands and rail trails for day trips.

The Elysburg camping season is tightly tied to Knoebels' operating calendar. Most area campgrounds run from spring through mid-fall: Knoebels Resort and Campground typically operates late April through October, Knoebels Lake Glory Campground runs from mid-April through the start of November, and Indian Head Campground opens May 1. Springbrook Family Campground and J and D Campgrounds follow similar warm-season patterns. Summer is peak season. School-vacation weeks and weekends fill quickly, and Knoebels sites are notoriously hard to book on short notice, with regulars reserving well in advance. Late spring and early fall bring lighter crowds, cooler nights, and easier availability, though pool and water features may be closed outside summer. Knoebels also runs Hallo-Fun weekends in October, which can spike demand at both park campgrounds. Winters are cold and snowy, with January averaging highs near freezing. Most private campgrounds shut down entirely from November through March, so RV trips in that window generally require heading to a year-round park or a state facility with winter sites.

Knoebels Resort and Campground is a large, wooded property with 30- and 50-amp electric sites, five bathhouses with individual shower stalls, a complimentary water fill and dump station, and a free shuttle to the park. Water and sewer are not run to individual sites; central fill and dump handle both. Sites sit under tall pines, and interior roads are tight, so smaller trailers and Class Cs handle it best. Knoebels Lake Glory Campground is more spread out around a five-acre lake, with full-hookup options including 30- and 50-amp service, water and sewer, plus cabins, a camp store, an air-conditioned arcade, and a game room. Indian Head Campground offers grass, tree-shaded sites with full hookups along with tent sites and a boat ramp. Both Knoebels campgrounds welcome leashed pets outdoors, and personal golf carts are permitted with registration at the campground office.
