Campgrounds and RV parks near Hunterstown, PA

Hunterstown sits in Adams County just northeast of Gettysburg, placing RV travelers within a short drive of Gettysburg National Military Park and a cluster of established private campgrounds. The area is rural and rolling, with orchards, farmland, and Civil War sites forming most of the surrounding landscape. Named private resorts within about 10 to 15 minutes of Hunterstown include Drummer Boy Camping Resort, Artillery Ridge Camping Resort, Round Top Campground, Gettysburg Battlefield Resort, and Gettysburg Campground. These properties cater to family RV travel with pull-through sites, full hookups, cabins, and pools. Gettysburg Campground sits along Marsh Creek and offers RV sites plus cottages, cabins, and a tent area shaded by tall trees. For a more natural setting, Caledonia State Park lies about 20 minutes west along US 30, with tent and trailer sites inside the park in the South Mountain area. It works well as a quieter base for the same battlefield touring.

For the named private resorts, book directly through each campground's website or by phone. Summer weekends, the July battle anniversary, and fall foliage weekends sell out earliest, and pull-through and full-hookup sites go first. Booking eight to twelve weeks ahead is reasonable for most summer stays; longer for holiday weekends and reenactment dates. Caledonia State Park and other Pennsylvania state parks use the state's reservation portal, operated through ReserveAmerica. Reservations can be made online or by phone up to eleven months in advance of arrival. Before booking, confirm site length, hookup type, and any big-rig or slide-out restrictions with the campground. Some state-park loops have rocky or sloped sites that affect leveling for larger motorhomes and trailers.
