Campgrounds and RV parks near Riverside, PA

Riverside sits on the west bank of the Susquehanna River in Northumberland County, directly across from Danville and within a short drive of Sunbury, Northumberland, and Elysburg. The surrounding stretch of the Susquehanna Valley concentrates several private RV parks and a well-known amusement-park campground within roughly fifteen to thirty minutes of town, making it a practical base for family trips through central Pennsylvania. Most sites in the area are private, family-run or resort-style parks rather than state or federal campgrounds. Splash Magic runs full-hookup RV sites with both 30 and 50-amp service, in pull-through and back-in layouts, while Fantasy Island Campground has approximately 100 sites, all with water, electric, and sewer hook-ups, each with a poured concrete patio and 30 or 50 amp capability. J and D Campgrounds and Indian Head Campground round out the smaller, more traditional options nearby. For amusement-park access, Knoebels Resort and Campground sits on the grounds of the United States' largest free-admission park and offers tent sites, RV hookups, and rustic log cabins.

Bookings in this area are handled directly by each private campground rather than through a central state or federal reservation system. Splash Magic RV Resort, Fantasy Island Campground, J and D Campgrounds, and Indian Head Campground each take reservations by phone or through their own websites, with some also listed on third-party platforms. Knoebels shapes summer planning. Peak Saturdays and holiday weekends fill far in advance, so campers should aim to reserve well ahead. Splash Magic and Fantasy Island fill quickly for July and August as well, and most sites at Fantasy Island accommodate seasonal guests who return year after year, tightening transient inventory. For summer weekends, aim to reserve several months out. Midweek stays and shoulder-season trips in May, September, and early October are far easier to book on short notice.
