I am not a seasoned camper by any means. However I have had the opportunity to rent a few campers over the last 2 seasons. This camper has been my favorite. It was extremely spacious, clean and fully equipped. We were able to cook and host dinner for 4 large adults without climbing all over one another in the camper during the rainy evenings. Brooklyn provided a full white glove service with delivery, setup, pickup and even a "how to" session to answer my newbie questions. I could totally get used to camping in this rig. I will be starring this camper in the hopes to rent it again in the future. Thank you Brooklyn!

When the phrase “above and beyond” was created , Shiloh was who they had in mind. Not only did Shiloh rent us his RV for a really important family reunion in Aurora (on the other side of the mountain range), he rented us his truck as well because our vehicle wouldn’t haul it. He truly went above and beyond to accommodate our trip, making sure we had everything we needed and checked in on us daily to make sure all was well. You are in good hands booking with him, he is a man of his word and I would be happy to business with him again. Thanks again Shiloh!!

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Gunbarrel, CO?

Good news: an RV rental in Gunbarrel can fit almost any budget. On RVezy, you'll generally see travel trailers from around $90 to $175 per night, campervans from $125 to $225, and Class C motorhomes from $175 to $325, with peak pricing in July and August when Boulder County is busiest. What license do I need to rent an RV in Gunbarrel, Colorado?

Great news for first-time renters: in Colorado, your standard driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Gunbarrel, no Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement required, even for a 32-foot Class C motorhome. To book on RVezy, the approved driver generally needs to be at least 25 years old, and you verify your ID right through the platform during checkout, so there is nothing to print or bring to pickup. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country along with your valid home license. Most renters are surprised how quickly the licensing step is done, usually in under five minutes online.

Is the RV rental in Gunbarrel covered by protection and roadside assistance?

Yes, every RV rental in Gunbarrel booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head toward the Peak to Peak Highway with real peace of mind. You choose the level of protection that fits your trip during checkout (not the host), and each plan covers accidental damage up to set limits. Roadside assistance helps with tire issues, lockouts, battery jumps, and towing, which matters when you are climbing toward Estes Park or Nederland at elevation. It is built specifically for peer-to-peer RV rentals and removes the biggest worry most first-time renters have before they book.

What happens if I need to cancel my Gunbarrel RV rental?

You are not locked in the moment you click Book. RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every booking (hosts do not), and there is a grace period right after booking where you can cancel for a full refund, giving you room to firm up plans. After that window, the refund amount depends on how far out you are from your trip start date. Full details are on the RVezy Help Center, but the short version is: booking your Gunbarrel RV trip is a low-risk way to lock in your dates while you finalize campgrounds and route.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Gunbarrel?

Absolutely, and Gunbarrel is one of the most dog-loving corners of Colorado. To find a pet-friendly RV rental in Gunbarrel, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see listings whose owners welcome dogs (and sometimes cats). From there, head to local favorites like the off-leash East Boulder Dog Park on Valmont Road, the Coot Lake loop next to Boulder Reservoir, or the dog-friendly trails at Heil Valley Ranch. Bring a collapsible water bowl, a tie-out leash, and proof of rabies vaccination if you plan to camp at a Colorado State Park. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee and shedding rules, it takes two minutes and keeps your deposit clean.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Gunbarrel?

Yes, RV delivery in Gunbarrel is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer if you're a first-time renter or just don't want to drive a motorhome up Boulder Canyon. Many local hosts will deliver and set up your rig at nearby campgrounds like Boulder County Fairgrounds Campground in Longmont, Reverend's Ridge at Golden Gate Canyon State Park, or even a private driveway in Niwot or Louisville. They'll level the RV, hook up power and water, walk you through every system, and pick it up at the end. Filter by Delivery on RVezy, then message the host with your campsite address for a delivery quote, usually $2 to $4 per mile each way.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Gunbarrel?

Late May through early October is the sweet spot for RV camping in Gunbarrel, with daytime highs from the upper 70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit and cool, comfortable nights in the 50s. June brings wildflowers in the high country, July and August are peak for Rocky Mountain National Park (Trail Ridge Road typically opens by Memorial Day weekend), and September is the local insider's favorite: aspens turn gold around Peak to Peak Highway, crowds thin, and rates drop. Winter rentals are available too if you want to ski Eldora (only 30 miles away), just look for four-season RVs with heated tanks. Pro tip: avoid early afternoon drives in July, when Front Range thunderstorms roll off the Rockies almost daily.

I've never driven an RV before. Is renting in Gunbarrel a good idea for first-timers?

It's actually a great place to start. First time renting an RV? Gunbarrel sits in the open Boulder Valley with wide, flat roads like the Diagonal Highway (CO-119) and US-36, perfect for getting comfortable before heading anywhere mountainous. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering driving, leveling, propane, the generator, water, and waste tanks, and you can text them throughout your trip. If you're nervous about Boulder Canyon's switchbacks or driving in town, book a campervan or small Class C and consider delivery so the host parks it for you. Pro tip: do your first overnight at the Boulder County Fairgrounds Campground in Longmont, only 12 miles away, so you can test every system before heading into the mountains.

What happens if something breaks down during my Gunbarrel RV trip?

You will not be left stranded. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so whether you have a flat outside Lyons, a dead battery at Brainard Lake, or you have locked the keys inside at Estes Park, one phone call gets help dispatched. For mechanical questions, your host is your first text, they know the rig best and can often troubleshoot in minutes (a tripped GFCI is a classic). For anything bigger, RVezy support is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: save the roadside number and your host's number in your phone before you leave the Gunbarrel pickup, and screenshot your campground address. Cell service can dip in Roosevelt National Forest and parts of Rocky Mountain National Park.

Can I take my Gunbarrel RV rental across state lines or into Canada?

Yes, road-tripping out of Colorado is one of the best parts of an RV road trip from Gunbarrel. Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, Nebraska, Kansas, and South Dakota are all within easy reach, think Grand Teton, Arches, Mesa Verde, or Mount Rushmore. Most RVezy hosts welcome interstate travel within the U.S., and the protection plan and roadside assistance follow you across state lines. Cross-border travel into Canada is not covered by RVezy insurance, so plan your route to stay within the United States. Pro tip: a 7-day loop from Gunbarrel to Moab and back is a popular route, about 700 miles round trip.

What's fuel going to cost on a motorhome rental in Gunbarrel?

Let's set realistic expectations so there are no surprises. Most Class C motorhome rentals in Gunbarrel get 8 to 12 miles per gallon on regular unleaded, campervans run 16 to 20, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Colorado gas prices around Boulder County typically run a few cents above the national average, and you'll find competitive pricing at Costco in Superior, Sam's Club in Gypsum, or the King Soopers fuel center on 28th Street. For a 500-mile loop to Rocky Mountain National Park and back, budget roughly $200 to $275 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up in Longmont or Frederick before heading into the mountains, prices in Estes Park and Grand Lake can jump 40 to 60 cents per gallon.

How far in advance should I book campgrounds for my Gunbarrel RV trip?

Book early and you'll have your pick. Colorado Parks and Wildlife opens reservations exactly six months ahead on cpw.state.co.us, and popular spots like St. Vrain State Park, Golden Gate Canyon, and Boyd Lake fill within minutes for summer weekends. Rocky Mountain National Park's Moraine Park and Glacier Basin campgrounds book through Recreation.gov six months out and are equally competitive. For Boulder County Fairgrounds Campground in Longmont, reservations are easier and often available a few weeks out. Pro tip: set a calendar alert for 8 a.m. Mountain Time exactly six months before your target Friday, log in early, and have a backup site ready. If you strike out, look at private RV parks in Lyons or dispersed camping in Roosevelt National Forest.

What are the driving conditions like around Gunbarrel?

Honest read: Gunbarrel itself is easy, and the mountains take a little more focus. The local roads (CO-119 Diagonal Highway, 63rd Street, US-36 to Boulder) are wide, flat, and totally manageable in any RV. Once you head west toward Nederland, Estes Park, or up Trail Ridge Road, you'll hit grades up to 7 percent and elevations over 12,000 feet, so plan to drive slowly, use lower gears on descents, and let your engine do the braking. Front Range afternoon thunderstorms in July and August are intense but usually pass in 30 to 60 minutes. Winter brings snow and possible chain laws on I-70 and US-36. Pro tip: check cotrip.org or call 511 before any mountain leg for real-time road and weather conditions.

What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Gunbarrel?

You'll find a full range of setups within a short drive. Boulder County Fairgrounds Campground in Longmont offers electric and water hookups, a dump station, showers, and pet-friendly sites. St. Vrain State Park has full hookups with 50-amp service at many sites plus a dump station. Reverend's Ridge at Golden Gate Canyon has electric hookups with shared potable water, and Peaceful Valley in Roosevelt National Forest is more rustic with vault toilets, bear lockers, and no hookups. For dumping and water fills near Gunbarrel, the Flying J in Frederick (20 minutes north on I-25) is the easiest stop. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose, a 30-to-50-amp adapter, and at least two sewer hose sections to handle any site in the area.

What's inside a typical RV rental in Gunbarrel?

More than you'd expect. A typical motorhome rental in Gunbarrel comes ready to live in: queen or king bed, bunk or dinette conversions for extra sleepers, a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, microwave, propane stovetop, and often an oven, a bathroom with toilet and shower, air conditioning, furnace, hot water, and seatbelted seating for travel. Most listings include a generator for off-grid power, and many hosts add a backup camera, outdoor speakers, and solar. Wi-Fi and TV vary, so check the listing's amenity list. For a campervan rental in Gunbarrel, expect a more compact setup, two-burner stove, small fridge, and a convertible bed, perfect for two travelers heading to Rocky Mountain National Park. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count to match your group size.

What add-ons and pickup options should I look for when I rent an RV in Gunbarrel?

Hosts offer some genuinely useful extras. Common add-ons on Gunbarrel listings include linen and kitchen packages ($50 to $125), camp chairs and outdoor rugs, portable grills, bike racks (huge in Boulder County), generators if not already included, and pet cleaning fees ($25 to $75). Pickup is typically at the host's home in Gunbarrel, Niwot, or nearby Boulder/Longmont, with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough. Mileage policies vary, you'll see the daily allowance and per-mile overage rate clearly on each listing, with some hosts offering unlimited mileage packages for longer trips. Pro tip: ask about a late-pickup or early-return window when you message the host, many will accommodate at no charge, which is great if you're flying into Denver International Airport about 45 minutes away.

How do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy in Gunbarrel?

Payment is simple and secure. You pay through RVezy at booking (no cash to the host) using a credit or debit card, and your funds are held by the platform until your trip begins. A security deposit is also required, separate from the booking payment, the exact amount is shown on the listing and pre-authorized on your card before pickup, then released after the RV is returned in good condition. To keep your Gunbarrel RV trip deposit clean, do the walkthrough video with the host at both pickup and drop-off, return with the fuel and propane levels you started with, empty the black and grey tanks at a dump station, and report any new damage right away.

Can I rent an RV in Gunbarrel for a family trip with kids?

Yes, a family RV trip Gunbarrel-style is one of the easiest vacations you can plan. Look for Class C motorhomes or bunkhouse travel trailers that sleep 6 to 8, with seatbelted seating for every passenger (Colorado law requires kids under 8 in proper child restraints, and seatbelts for all). Family-friendly bases close to Gunbarrel include St. Vrain State Park (swimming, fishing, and easy bike paths), Estes Park KOA (mini-golf and pool, gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park), and Boulder County Fairgrounds. Use the RVezy filters for Sleeps 6+ and Delivery, then let the host bring the RV right to your campsite. Pro tip: Boulder's Pearl Street Mall and the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster are perfect rainy-afternoon backups if a thunderstorm rolls through.
