2021 Thor Motor Coach Class C
The owners of the RV were kind and honest people. They were generous enough to be super flexible with the pickup and drop off times which was extremely helpful (i'm sure they cant do this for EVERYBODY, but they did for me). The RV was clean and everything worked well! Overall a great experience, we would definitely rent from them again in the future.

2020 Crossroads Travel Trailer
We are relatively new to the camper life, and Joe helped get us situated and made sure we had a great time! Strong communication, quick responses and ready to answer any questions we had throughout our trip. The RV itself is well taken care of, clean, and functional. Awning and awning lights were a super bonus! Also cool that he had the shrek DVD available (among others). Would love to rent from Joe again.

Joe and his family roadstead were a great experience. He communicated well and delivered to the local state park. Even setting everything up for us by the time we arrived. It was stocked full with all the entertainment and cooking tools one could hope for on a camping trip with the family. The AC in the 100 degree weather was a godsend.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Watkins, CO
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Watkins, Colorado?
RV rental in Watkins is one of the most affordable ways to explore the Denver metro and Colorado Rockies. Travel trailers typically run $90 to $160 per night, Class C motorhomes average $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A coaches range from $250 to $400 per night. You can find a cheap RV rental in Watkins by booking midweek, traveling in May or late September, or choosing a smaller campervan for two. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book on RVezy to lock in last-minute deals from local hosts just minutes from Denver International Airport.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Watkins,ColoradoWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Watkins, Colorado?
Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Watkins. There is no special RV endorsement or Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required for any motorhome or trailer on the RVezy platform, even larger Class A coaches. You must be at least 25 years old to be an approved driver, and ID confirmation happens quickly through the RVezy platform during booking. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home country license along with an International Driving Permit (IDP). Most first-time renters are surprised how straightforward it is, you can be on the road to the Rockies the same day you pick up.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs the RV protected if something happens during my trip?
Yes, every RV rental in Watkins booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Interstate 70 with confidence. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your level of coverage during booking (not the host). It is not traditional auto insurance, but it provides real peace of mind whether you are parked at Cherry Creek State Park or climbing toward the Continental Divide. Pro tip: review the coverage tiers at checkout. A higher tier usually means a lower deductible if anything goes sideways on your Colorado RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my plans change?
Booking your Watkins RV rental is low-risk. RVezy applies a standard cancellation policy to every reservation, including a grace period right after booking during which you can cancel for a full refund. Refund amounts after the grace period depend on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. The policy is set by RVezy, not the individual host, so you get consistent treatment no matter which listing you choose. Pro tip: book early to lock in the RV you want for peak summer dates near Denver International Airport, and review the cancellation terms during checkout so you know exactly where you stand.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Watkins?
Absolutely, plenty of pet-friendly RV rental options in Watkins welcome your dog along for the adventure. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see hosts who allow pets, and message them before booking if you have a larger breed or multiple furry travelers. Colorado is famously dog-loving, and nearby spots like Cherry Creek State Park, Chatfield State Park, and Barr Lake State Park all permit leashed dogs on most trails and in campgrounds. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl and watch paws on hot asphalt in July, when Watkins highs average in the upper 80s. Your pup will thank you on the trails.
cpw.state.co.us/placestogo/parks/CherryCreekCan the RV be delivered to my campground or home?
Yes, RV delivery in Watkins is popular with first-time renters and travelers flying into Denver International Airport, which sits just minutes from town. Many hosts will drive the motorhome or travel trailer directly to your campsite at Cherry Creek State Park, Chatfield State Park, or even your driveway, then level it, hook it up, and walk you through every system. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts who offer this service and their delivery radius. Pro tip: delivery is a game-changer if you are nervous about towing or navigating I-70 traffic, you skip the driving and start your Colorado RV trip already set up.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Watkins,ColoradoHow many miles per day do I get, and can I find unlimited mileage?
Mileage policies are set by each host, and you will see the exact daily allowance right on the listing before you book, no surprises. Typical Watkins RV rentals include 100 to 150 free miles per day, with additional miles available at $0.30 to $0.50 each. Some hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, especially for longer trips, just filter or message hosts directly to ask. From Watkins, popular drives include Rocky Mountain National Park (about 90 miles), Colorado Springs (about 85 miles), Great Sand Dunes (about 235 miles), and Glenwood Springs (about 170 miles). Pro tip: map out your route before booking so you can pick a mileage plan that matches your itinerary and avoid overage fees.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Watkins,ColoradoWhere are the best campgrounds near Watkins, Colorado?
You are spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping in Watkins. Cherry Creek State Park (about 20 minutes west) offers full-hookup sites and an 880-acre reservoir for swimming and boating. Chatfield State Park (about 35 minutes southwest) has full-hookup loops and Rocky Mountain views. Denver East/Strasburg KOA (about 20 minutes east on I-70) is a convenient overnight stop with a pool and pull-throughs. Barr Lake State Park is just to the north, and Golden Gate Canyon State Park (about an hour west) offers cooler mountain camping. Pro tip: Colorado state park sites book up to six months in advance, especially for July weekends, so reserve early through Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
cpw.state.co.us/placestogo/parksWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in Watkins?
Late May through mid-October is prime time for an RV rental in Watkins, with warm, dry days, abundant sunshine, and all nearby mountain passes open. July is the warmest month with average highs in the upper 80s and cool nights in the low 60s, perfect for campfires. September is a local favorite: golden aspens, fewer crowds, and daytime temps in the upper 70s. Winter RV trips are absolutely possible too if you are chasing snow at Loveland or Arapahoe Basin, just book a four-season unit. Pro tip: plan mountain drives for the morning in late July and August, when afternoon thunderstorms can roll in hard along the Front Range.
weather.gov/bou/I have never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?
Yes, renting an RV for the first time in Watkins is easier than you would think, and you are not on your own. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering driving, leveling, hookups, slide-outs, water, and waste tanks. Watkins itself sits on flat plains east of Denver, giving you easy, low-stress roads to practice on before heading into the mountains. If you would rather skip driving altogether, book a host who delivers and sets up at your campground. Pro tip: start with a smaller Class C motorhome or a campervan rental for your first trip, they drive much like a large van and fit comfortably in most state park sites.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360003020853-Renting-an-RVWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
Relax, every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you are stuck on I-70 near the Eisenhower Tunnel or off the grid near Pawnee National Grassland. Covered services typically include towing, tire changes, jump-starts, lockout help, and fuel delivery. Your host is also a quick text away for questions about quirks specific to their RV, and RVezy support is available before, during, and after your trip through the Help Center. Pro tip: save the roadside number in your phone before pickup and snap a photo of the RV's VIN so any service call goes faster.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best RV road trips from Watkins, Colorado?
An RV road trip from Watkins puts some of America's best scenery within easy reach. Rocky Mountain National Park is about 90 miles northwest via US-36. Colorado Springs and Garden of the Gods sit about 85 miles south on I-25. Great Sand Dunes National Park is a stunning 235-mile drive south. Glenwood Springs and its famous hot springs are about 170 miles west on I-70, and Mesa Verde National Park is a longer 400-mile haul into the Four Corners. Cross-border trips into neighboring states like Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, and Kansas are allowed, just confirm with your host. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: drive mountain passes in the morning to beat afternoon storms.
nps.gov/romo/index.htmWhat kind of fuel mileage should I budget for in Colorado?
Plan smart and fuel costs will not surprise you on your Colorado RV trip. Class B campervans typically get 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes 10 to 14 MPG, Class A coaches 7 to 10 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 MPG combined). Most motorhomes in Watkins run on regular gasoline, with diesel options available. Colorado gas prices near Denver tend to track close to the national average, with Watkins-area stations off I-70 often a few cents cheaper than downtown Denver. Pro tip: top off in Watkins or Strasburg before heading into the mountains, prices climb noticeably once you pass Idaho Springs heading west on I-70.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Watkins?
Book early and you will get the best sites. Colorado state parks, including Cherry Creek, Chatfield, and Golden Gate Canyon, open reservations up to six months ahead through Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and popular summer weekends sell out quickly. Private parks like Denver East/Strasburg KOA usually have more last-minute availability, especially midweek. For Rocky Mountain National Park campgrounds, reserve up to six months out on Recreation.gov. Pro tip: if you are flexible, Sunday-through-Thursday nights at Cherry Creek State Park often have openings even in July, and you will skip the weekend crowds while still being about 25 minutes from your Watkins RV pickup.
recreation.gov/What are driving conditions like around Watkins and the Rockies?
Watkins sits on the flat eastern plains at roughly 5,500 feet, so local driving is easy, with wide-open roads and light traffic. The action starts when you head west on I-70 toward the mountains, where you will climb to 11,158 feet at the Eisenhower Tunnel. Most modern RVs handle this fine, just use lower gears on descents and watch for sudden afternoon thunderstorms June through August. Winter travelers should check Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) traction law status before heading into the high country. Pro tip: avoid I-70 westbound on Friday afternoons and eastbound on Sunday afternoons, that is when Denver ski and weekend traffic backs up for miles between Georgetown and Idaho Springs.
codot.gov/travel/winter-driving/tractionlawWhat hookups and amenities do Watkins-area campgrounds offer?
Most campgrounds near Watkins offer solid amenities for a comfortable stay. Cherry Creek State Park and Chatfield State Park provide electric and water hookups at many sites, plus showers, dump stations, and potable water fill stations. Denver East/Strasburg KOA includes 30/50-amp electric, full hookups, Wi-Fi, a pool, and laundry. Free dump stations are available at several Denver-area locations, and water fill stations are easy to find at state park entrances. Pro tip: confirm whether your site is 30-amp or 50-amp before booking, your host will tell you which adapter the RV needs so you can run the air conditioner comfortably during Colorado's hot July afternoons.
cpw.state.co.us/placestogo/parks/ChatfieldWhat amenities come with a typical RV rental in Watkins?
You will find genuinely comfortable setups across Watkins RV rentals. Most motorhomes come fully equipped with a queen or king bed, full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), bathroom with shower and toilet, dinette, air conditioning, furnace, and 30 or 50-amp shore power capability. Many also include a generator for boondocking, awning, TV, and Wi-Fi hotspot. Seatbelt counts vary, so check the listing if you are traveling with kids. Pro tip: message the host before booking if you want specific items like a backup camera, solar panels for off-grid camping near Pawnee National Grassland, or kid-friendly bunks. Watkins hosts are known for being responsive and often include extras like camp chairs, levelers, and starter kits.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Watkins,ColoradoWhat add-ons and pickup options are available?
Watkins hosts offer plenty of useful add-ons to customize your trip. Common options include linen and towel packages, kitchen kits, camp chairs and outdoor gear, generators or extra propane, bike racks, and pet cleaning fees. Pickup and dropoff usually happen at the host's home in or near Watkins, often within a short drive of Denver International Airport, making airport arrivals easy. Many hosts will meet you at the airport for an extra fee or deliver to a nearby campground. Pro tip: bundle add-ons at booking rather than buying gear in town, you will save money and avoid spending vacation time hunting for a camping store.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Watkins,ColoradoHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure, you pay through the RVezy platform during booking using a credit card, never directly to the host. Your reservation total covers the nightly rate, mileage allowance, protection plan, and any add-ons you select. A security deposit is held separately on your card before the trip starts, with the amount visible on the listing. As long as the RV is returned in the same condition with the agreed mileage and fuel level, the hold is released after your trip. Pro tip: do a quick walk-around video at pickup and dropoff with your host, it protects both of you and keeps your deposit hassle-free after your Watkins RV adventure wraps up.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I take the RV to Wyoming, Utah, or other neighboring states?
Yes, interstate travel is generally allowed on Watkins RV rentals, opening up incredible road trip options like Wyoming's Grand Teton, Utah's Arches and Moab, Yellowstone, New Mexico's Santa Fe, and Kansas's Flint Hills. Just confirm your route with the host before booking so they can verify their mileage policy works for your plan. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental. Cross-border trips to Canada may be possible with advance host approval and the proper documentation. Pro tip: message the host with your full route in advance, longer multi-state itineraries often unlock better mileage packages or weekly discounts.
