Norman is fantastic to work with. We just completed our second trip with his van as repeat customers, and it was great yet again. He was incredibly responsive to our needs and questions, and was very flexible to our situation and always very accommodating. The van drives very well and was incredibly comfortable for our family of 4. Highly recommended!

You’re not going to get a better host than Bill or a nicer RV for that price point than this one! As a new RV user, we had a TON of questions before and during our trip. Bill could not have been easier to deal with and his communication was excellent throughout our rental. Bill made our trip trouble-free and AMAZING - Five stars all around for sure!

Jessica communicated well but the RV had more wear than what was shown in the pictures. The seats and trim were old and had wear. The generator would not start so we were not able to use it while traveling. The door between bedroom and kitchen was a constant struggle to open and close. For the price the camper was good. It drove well and had no mechanical issues.

What protection is included with my Port Wentworth RV rental?

Peace of mind comes standard: every RV rental in Port Wentworth booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance. The protection plan covers most physical damage to the vehicle during your trip, so a fender bender on I-95 or a scrape at a tight campground turn won't ruin your vacation. What happens if I need to cancel my Port Wentworth RV booking?

Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets a clear cancellation policy for every reservation, including a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your Port Wentworth RV trip with confidence. Cancellation outcomes depend on how far out from your trip you cancel. Hosts don't set these rules, RVezy does, which keeps things consistent across every booking. If plans shift, just open your booking and follow the cancellation flow, or reach out to RVezy support. That flexibility makes it easy to commit now and finalize details later.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Port Wentworth?

Yes, and it's a game-changer for first-time renters. Delivery fees are usually based on mileage from the host's location, so closer campgrounds cost less. Pro tip: book a stationary delivery for your first trip so you can focus on enjoying Savannah instead of driving a 30-foot motorhome.

When is the best time to take an RV trip to Port Wentworth?

Fall is the sweet spot. From late September through mid-November, daytime highs settle into the comfortable 67 to 78 degree range with lower humidity and minimal rain, perfect for RV camping in Port Wentworth. Spring (March through May) is a close second, when dogwoods and azaleas bloom and temperatures hover in the 70s. Summer (June to August) sees highs in the low 90s with high humidity and afternoon thunderstorms, so an RV with strong air conditioning is essential. Winters are mild, averaging around 56 degrees, which makes Port Wentworth a great snowbird destination. Local tip: book around St. Patrick's Day in mid-March for one of the country's largest parades, but expect campgrounds to sell out months in advance.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving in the Port Wentworth area?

You've got this, and Port Wentworth is actually one of the easier places to start. The roads around Exit 109 are wide, flat, and well-marked, with Highway 21 and I-95 giving you straightforward access in every direction. First time renting an RV? Every RVezy host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering the generator, slide-outs, hookups, and driving tips, plus they're a text away during your trip. Avoid downtown Savannah's narrow squares and low-hanging oak branches by parking at Savannah Visitor Center on MLK Boulevard and taking the trolley in. Pro tip: ask your host for a campervan or smaller Class C if nerves are running high, they handle just like an oversized van.

Can I take my Port Wentworth RV rental into South Carolina or Florida?

Yes, interstate road trips are encouraged. An RV road trip from Port Wentworth gives you easy access to South Carolina (Hilton Head is 45 minutes, Charleston is 2 hours) and Florida (Jacksonville is 2 hours, St. Augustine is 2.5 hours via I-95). Your RVezy protection plan and roadside assistance follow you across state lines throughout the United States. Cross-border travel to Mexico isn't permitted because insurance won't cover it, and trips into Canada need host approval in advance. Popular multi-state loops from Port Wentworth include the Lowcountry circuit (Savannah, Beaufort, Charleston) and the Atlantic coast run down to Amelia Island. Message your host with your itinerary so they can adjust mileage if needed.

What kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for in Port Wentworth?

Budgeting is straightforward once you know the numbers. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG), Class A rigs run 6 to 9 MPG, campervans (Class B) get 16 to 20 MPG, and towables depend on your tow vehicle. With Georgia gas prices typically running below the national average, a weekend trip from Port Wentworth to Tybee Island and back (about 80 miles round trip) costs roughly $25 to $40 in fuel for a Class C. There are several large fuel stations near Exit 109 with RV-friendly pumps, including the Love's Travel Stop just north of town. Pro tip: fill up before crossing into South Carolina, Georgia's gas is usually cheaper.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Port Wentworth?

Sooner is better, especially for spring and fall. Georgia State Parks like Skidaway Island and Fort McAllister can be reserved up to 13 months in advance through ReserveAmerica.com, and weekend sites near Savannah routinely sell out 3 to 6 months ahead during peak season (March, April, October). Private parks like CreekFire and Red Gate Farms book directly on their websites and tend to have a bit more flexibility, often 4 to 8 weeks out for midweek stays. For St. Patrick's Day weekend in March, lock in your spot at least 6 months in advance, it's the busiest week of the year in the Savannah area. Last-minute trip? Try Tuesday or Wednesday arrivals for the best availability.

What are local driving conditions like around Port Wentworth?

Driving here is refreshingly easy compared to most major metros. The Port Wentworth area is flat coastal lowland with wide highways and minimal traffic outside of Savannah rush hour (7 to 9 AM and 4 to 6 PM). I-95 and Highway 21 are your main arteries, both RV-friendly. Watch for two things: low-hanging Spanish moss and live oak branches in older Savannah neighborhoods (stay on main streets in a tall rig), and sudden summer thunderstorms that can drop heavy rain in 20 minutes. Hurricane season runs June to November, so check the National Weather Service before traveling between August and October. Local insider tip: avoid the Talmadge Memorial Bridge in high winds, it's a steep cable-stayed crossing into South Carolina.

What hookups and amenities do campgrounds near Port Wentworth offer?

You'll find full-service comfort at most parks. Campgrounds near Port Wentworth like CreekFire RV Resort, Red Gate Farms, and Savannah Oaks RV Resort offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer, WiFi, laundry, pools, and dump stations on-site. State parks like Skidaway Island provide water and 30/50-amp electric at most sites, with a centralized dump station and potable fill at the entrance. For free fresh water and dump stations between trips, the Camping World of Savannah on US-17 and several Love's Travel Stops along I-95 are handy. Cell coverage from Verizon and AT&T is strong throughout the area. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot sewer hose and a water pressure regulator, Savannah-area water pressure can spike at older campgrounds.

Many hosts also stock pots, pans, dishes, linens, and outdoor chairs, just check the listing's amenities tab. WiFi hotspots are sometimes available as an add-on. No cash, no checks, no awkward driveway transactions. To avoid any deductions, snap photos at pickup and drop-off, dump tanks before returning, and refill the gas tank at one of the I-95 Exit 109 stations on your way back.
