rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Griffith%2C%20IndianaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Griffith, Indiana?
Great news for first-timers: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Griffith, Indiana. Indiana does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for personal motorhomes or travel trailers booked through RVezy. Approved drivers on RVezy are generally 25 or older with a valid license, and ID verification happens right inside the booking flow, so there is no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from outside the US? Pair your home license with an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto club before you fly in, then you are ready to roll toward the Indiana Dunes.

rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat is the cancellation policy for an RV rental in Griffith, IN?
Booking your Griffith RV trip is low risk. RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy, and it includes a full money-back grace period right after booking so you have time to finalize plans. After that window, refunds depend on how far out your trip start date is, and special consideration applies to unusual circumstances. The most current terms always live in your RVezy account and the Help Center. Pro tip: book early to lock in the RV you want for an Indiana Dunes weekend, and use the grace period to confirm campground reservations.

Yes, bringing your dog along is easy. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see pet-friendly RV rental Griffith listings where hosts welcome four-legged travelers (some charge a small pet cleaning fee, listed up front). Once on the road, Lake County has plenty of dog-friendly stops: leashed pups are welcome on most trails and on specific pet-allowed beaches like Kemil Beach inside Indiana Dunes National Park, and Oak Ridge Prairie County Park in nearby Griffith/Hobart has wide-open walking paths. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm your dog's size and breed, and pack a tie-out for campsite downtime.

Yes, RV delivery in Griffith is one of the most popular options on RVezy and is perfect if you are renting for the first time or do not want to tow. Many Northwest Indiana hosts will drive the RV right to your driveway in Griffith, Highland, or Schererville, or straight to a campground like Indiana Dunes State Park or Yogi Bear's Jellystone in Portage. Pro tip: filter listings by Delivery on RVezy and message the host with your destination to confirm the delivery fee and mileage radius.

From Griffith you are well placed for an Indiana RV road trip: Indiana Dunes National Park is about 30 miles east, downtown Chicago is roughly 35 miles northwest, Shipshewana Amish Country is around 110 miles east, Indianapolis is about 160 miles south, and Mackinaw City, MI is roughly 380 miles north. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Griffith%2C%20IndianaWhat are the best campgrounds near Griffith, IN for RV camping?
Northwest Indiana has excellent options for RV camping near Griffith. Indiana Dunes State Park Campground in Chesterton (about 30 miles east) offers electric sites near Lake Michigan. Dunewood Campground inside Indiana Dunes National Park in Porter has wooded sites and a dump station. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park in Portage is a family favorite with full hookups. Lake Sauk Trail in Lowell sits about 20 miles south for a quieter night. For full-service luxury, Oak Lake RV Resort in Fair Oaks is about an hour south. Pro tip: state and national park sites book up to six months out, so reserve early.
recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/233927When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Griffith, IN?
Late May through early October is prime time for a Griffith RV trip, with the sweet spot from mid-June to early September when Lake Michigan beaches are warm enough to swim and daytime highs sit in the upper 70s to mid 80s°F. September and early October bring cooler nights (50s°F), thinner crowds, and beautiful fall color along the Dunes. Winters in Lake County are cold (highs in the 20s to low 30s°F with lake-effect snow), so most campgrounds close from November through April. Pro tip: book a shoulder-season weekend in late September for the best mix of pleasant weather, open campgrounds, and lower nightly rates.
weather.gov/lot/I have never rented an RV before. Will I get help in Griffith?
Yes, first time renting an RV in Griffith is genuinely easier than most people expect. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup or delivery, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water systems, propane, and how to dump and refill tanks. You can message your host with questions before booking, during your trip, and after. RVezy customer support is also available throughout every booking. For your first drive, start with a travel trailer parked at a nearby campground via delivery, or pick a Class C, which handles like a large van. Pro tip: take a short practice loop around the host's neighborhood before heading toward I-65.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if my RV breaks down on the road near Griffith?
You are never on your own. Every RVezy rental includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so one phone call gets you help for flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, or towing, whether you are stuck on the Borman Expressway, parked at Indiana Dunes National Park, or rolling down US-30. Your host is also a quick text away for RV-specific questions like how to reset the inverter or troubleshoot the slide-out. Major service centers and RV shops in the Merrillville area are within easy reach. Pro tip: save the RVezy roadside number in your phone before you leave the driveway.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take an RV rental from Griffith, IN across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, an RV road trip from Griffith opens up the whole Midwest. You are free to cross into Illinois (Chicago is about 35 miles away), Michigan (Warren Dunes State Park is about 50 miles), Wisconsin, and beyond with standard RVezy coverage. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and protection plan, so confirm with your host before booking if you are planning a Toronto or Montreal loop. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because coverage does not extend there. Popular routes from Griffith include the Lake Michigan Circle Tour and a Door County, Wisconsin loop. Pro tip: bring a passport for any Canadian leg.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for in Northwest Indiana?
Plan smart and your fuel budget will not surprise you. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 MPG, Class A coaches around 7 to 10 MPG, and a truck towing a travel trailer typically lands at 9 to 13 MPG. Indiana gas prices are usually a bit lower than Illinois, so fill up in Griffith, Schererville, or Lowell before crossing into Chicago. For a 4-day, 400-mile loop to the Indiana Dunes and back in a Class C, budget roughly $130 to $180 in fuel. Pro tip: GasBuddy and the truck stops along I-65 in Lake County usually have the best diesel and unleaded prices.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Griffith, IN?

Summer weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day sell out quickly, especially anything within 30 miles of Griffith. Private parks like Yogi Bear's Jellystone in Portage and Oak Lake RV Resort fill up about 2 to 3 months out for peak weekends. Pro tip: if you missed the big sites, check midweek availability or look at Sand Creek Campground in Chesterton, which often has last-minute openings.
