What a great host! Jerry was the man! He is such a nice nice fella. He went above and beyond. The world would be such a better place if more people tried a little harder to go a little more out of their way to make people stay great. The trailer worked great. The AC was cold and I appreciated that as it was out. At the end, Jerry is a top-notch fella and I hope that you contact him and ask him how your website can be better and offering better service. He’s an older fella and you young pups on the Internet need to learn something from the old timers.!!!!!

This was our first time using an RV while camping and we'll probably never go back to using a tent. Blake and Heather definitely set a high standard for future rentals. They had it set up and ready to go upon our arrival. It was very clean and fully stocked. Blake took time to show us around and explain where to find things. Everything worked great without any problems. We definitely recommend renting from them, as they will be our first choice for future rentals.

Sportsman Park near Dawson sits on wooded acres above the North Raccoon River with fishing and hiking. A short drive away you'll find Swede Point Park in Madrid and Ledges State Park near Boone with iconic sandstone bluffs. For more full-hookup amenities, the Des Moines West KOA Holiday is about 30 minutes southeast. Pro tip: Iowa state park reservations through the Iowa DNR system fill up fast for summer weekends, so book early.
iowadnr.gov/Things-to-Do/CampingWhen is the best time of year for RV camping in Perry, IA?
Late April through mid-October is prime time for RV camping Perry, IA visitors love, with the sweet spot being May, June, September, and early October. Daytime highs in those months typically range from a comfortable 65°F to 80°F, and humidity is easier than mid-July's 85°F-plus stretches. Iowa state parks generally turn water and dump stations on by May 1 and close them down around mid-October, so plan modern hookups inside that window. Fall brings spectacular color along the Raccoon River Valley Trail and cooler nights perfect for campfires. Pro tip: time your trip with Perry's Art on the Prairie festival in early November or BaconFest in February (if you have a winter-ready rig) for a truly local experience.
weather.gov/dmx/I've never rented an RV before. Will I know what I'm doing?
You'll be in great shape, even if it's your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup (or at delivery) where they walk you through driving the rig, leveling, hooking up power and water, operating the awning, and emptying the tanks. You can message the host with questions before you book, and RVezy support is available during your trip. Perry is a fantastic first-timer base because the streets are wide, traffic is light, and easy destinations like Pattee Park are minutes from pickup. Pro tip: ask for a Class C motorhome or travel trailer under 25 feet for your first trip; they drive much like a large van and park easily at most Iowa campgrounds.
rvezy.com/What happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You're never on your own out there. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so if you get a flat near Sportsman Park, the battery dies at Ledges State Park, or you lock yourself out at a rest stop on I-80, help is one phone call away. Your host is typically a quick text or call away too, and most are happy to walk you through small issues by phone. Pro tip: snap photos of every system during the pickup walkthrough so you have a visual reference if you need it later, and save the RVezy support number in your phone before you pull away.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best RV road trips from Perry, IA?
You're perfectly placed for a Midwest adventure. A popular RV road trip from Perry is the loop south to Madison County (about 40 miles) to see the famous covered bridges, then on to Des Moines for the Iowa State Fairgrounds and Pappajohn Sculpture Park. Head east about 2 hours to Iowa City and the Amana Colonies, or northeast roughly 3.5 hours to the Mississippi bluffs at Pikes Peak State Park. Want big skies? It's about 2 hours west to Omaha and the Loess Hills. Cross-border travel into neighboring states like Nebraska, Missouri, Minnesota, and Wisconsin is generally allowed (confirm with your host), but trips into Mexico are not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: build your route around state park reservations since prime summer sites fill up early.
traveliowa.com/What kind of fuel mileage should I budget for my Perry RV trip?
Budgeting fuel is easier than you'd think. Class B campervans typically get 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes around 10 to 14 MPG, larger Class A coaches 7 to 10 MPG, and a half-ton truck pulling a travel trailer lands around 10 to 13 MPG. Iowa gas prices generally run a bit below the national average, and Perry has multiple stations on Willis Avenue and along Highway 141 with easy RV access. For a typical 3-night, 250-mile loop in a Class C, plan roughly $90 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Perry before heading west toward smaller towns where stations can be sparser, and use the GasBuddy app to spot the cheapest pumps along your route.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Perry?
Booking early is the move, especially for summer weekends. Iowa state parks like Ledges, Springbrook, and Walnut Woods take reservations through the Iowa DNR system and frequently book out 3 to 4 months ahead for July and August weekends. For shoulder-season trips (May, September, October), 4 to 6 weeks out is usually plenty. Pattee Park in Perry is typically first-come-first-served through the City of Perry, so you can roll in more spontaneously. From November through March, many Iowa state parks limit camping due to winter conditions. Pro tip: if your dream site is taken, keep checking back as cancellations are common as trip plans shift.
iowadnr.gov/Things-to-Do/CampingWhat are driving conditions like in and around Perry, IA?
Driving an RV around Perry is genuinely relaxed. The town sits on flat-to-gently-rolling prairie with wide streets, light traffic, and easy access to Highway 141 and Highway 144. You're about 40 miles from Des Moines via Highway 141 (a straightforward drive even in a 30-foot rig), and I-80 is roughly 25 miles south. Watch for two local factors: spring and summer thunderstorms can bring strong crosswinds across open farmland, and gravel county roads west of town can get washboarded, so stick to paved routes. In winter, blowing snow and black ice are real, so most travelers stick to April through October for a motorhome rental Perry, IA trip. Pro tip: check 511ia.org for live road conditions before you set out.
hb.511ia.org/What amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Perry?
You'll find solid amenities at most local campgrounds. Pattee Park in Perry offers a small number of electric sites and a dump station at a modest nightly rate. Iowa state parks like Ledges and Springbrook typically offer 30/50-amp electric, potable water fill stations, dump stations, flush toilets, and hot showers from May through mid-October. For dumping near Perry, the Pattee Park dump station is the most convenient option in town, and the Des Moines West KOA also offers RV waste disposal. Pro tip: top off fresh water and empty tanks before you leave any campground; rural Iowa has fewer roadside dump stations than mountain states.
iowadnr.gov/Things-to-Do/CampingWhat features and amenities come inside a typical Perry RV rental?
You'll be impressed by how loaded modern rentals are. A typical campervan rental Perry, IA or motorhome on RVezy comes with real beds (usually queen plus convertible dinette or sofa), a kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, and sink, an enclosed bathroom with toilet and shower in most Class B, C, and A rigs, roof AC, furnace, and a house battery system. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor shower, awning, and seatbelted seating for 4 to 7 passengers. WiFi and generators are common add-ons, great if you're heading to a more remote spot like Sportsman Park. Travel trailers offer similar amenities once parked. Pro tip: check the listing's sleeps count AND seatbelt count separately; a unit that sleeps 6 doesn't always seat 6 while driving.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Perry%2C%20IowaWhat add-ons and pickup options can I expect when I rent an RV in Perry, IA?
Hosts make it easy to customize your setup. Common add-ons for an RV rental Iowa travelers book include kitchen kits ($25 to $50), bedding and linens ($25 to $75), camp chairs and outdoor rugs, portable generators ($30 to $60 per night), bike racks, propane refills, and pet cleaning fees. Many Perry hosts offer delivery for a per-mile fee to local campgrounds and even out to Des Moines or Ames. Pickup is typically at the host's home in or near Perry, with a 30-to-60-minute walkthrough included. Mileage policies vary, with some hosts offering unlimited miles within Iowa. Pro tip: book add-ons during checkout rather than at pickup to lock in availability, and ask about a generator if you're heading anywhere without shore power.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Perry%2C%20IowaHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and built for confidence. You pay directly through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, never cash to the host, which keeps everything documented and protected. A refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card (not charged) shortly before your trip starts, and the amount is shown clearly on the listing before you book. Assuming the RV comes back in the same condition you got it, the hold is released after your trip wraps up. To avoid issues, do a thorough joint walkaround at pickup and dropoff and take photos and a short video of the rig inside and out. Pro tip: keep receipts for any propane refills or required fuel top-offs to make returns smooth.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's the local insider scoop on visiting Perry by RV?
Here's the move locals love: base your family RV trip Perry, IA in town and use the 89-mile paved Raccoon River Valley Trail (it runs right through Perry) as your daily adventure highway. Park the rig at Pattee Park, unhook, and bike to coffee or dinner downtown. Don't miss the historic Hotel Pattee, the Boulevard Sculpture Series on Willis Avenue (especially lit up at night), and Forest Park Museum and Arboretum just north of town. Time your trip with BaconFest (February), Art on the Prairie (early November), or RAGBRAI when it rolls through, and you'll see Perry at its absolute best. Pro tip: dinner reservations downtown are worth making a week ahead in summer.
