2024 Keystone Travel Trailer
We had such a wonderful experience renting this RV! The owner was absolutely fantastic—so kind, accommodating, and incredibly flexible throughout the entire process. Communication was seamless, he was always quick to respond, and he went above and beyond to make everything easy and stress-free. The RV itself was spotless, in pristine condition, and clearly very well cared for. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely rent from him again. Highly recommend!

2023 Coleman Travel Trailer
The camper was clean, comfortable and was perfect for what was needed. They are very accommodating as Greg had to delivery one to a location almost two hours away one way. Then had to turn around and drop off to me which is around an hour. Every thing went smoothly, the generator starts on first pull and was great on gas. We were happy to have the camper on Thursday as it poured for part of the night. In the past when it rained we were in a tent. It was nice to be able to take a shower to get the dust off of me and sweat. Bed is super comfortable and the ac worked well but we only used it for a short time. All in all it was a great experience dealing with them. Will be looking forward to using them again next year.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Schoharie, NY
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Schoharie, NY?
An RV rental in Schoharie is one of the more affordable ways to explore the Catskills and Mohawk Valley. On RVezy, travel trailers in the Schoharie area typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run roughly $175 to $275, and larger Class A rigs sit higher depending on age and amenities. Hosts set their own pricing, so booking midweek or in May, early June, or late September can shave 15 to 30 percent off peak summer rates. For a cheap RV rental in Schoharie, filter by Instant Book and travel trailers, then message a few hosts about multi-night discounts. Pro tip: locking in your dates before the Howe Caverns and Cooperstown summer rush usually gets you the best pick of the fleet.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Schoharie,%20New%20YorkWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Schoharie, NY?
Great news for first-timers: a standard New York State Class D driver's license (or your equivalent from any US state or Canadian province) is all you need to rent an RV in Schoharie. New York does not require a Commercial Driver's License for personal-use motorhomes or travel trailers under 26,000 pounds, which covers essentially every rig on RVezy. Approved drivers on RVezy are generally 25 or older, and you will verify your ID securely through the platform during checkout. Visiting from overseas? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit, available from your local auto club. Most renters are surprised how straightforward it is, you will be on your way to Vroman's Nose in no time.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs RV rental insurance and roadside assistance included in Schoharie?
Yes, every RV rental in Schoharie booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built into your booking, so you can hit Route 30 and the Schoharie Valley with real peace of mind. You choose your protection level during checkout, and the plan helps cover damage to the vehicle so you are not on the hook if something unexpected happens. Roadside assistance covers flat tires, lockouts, jump-starts, and towing, which is reassuring on the winding back roads near the Catskills. Hosts cannot downgrade or remove this coverage, it is the same trusted safety net on every trip.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat is the cancellation policy if my Schoharie RV trip plans change?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not the individual host), and every reservation includes a money-back grace period right after you book, so you can lock in your Schoharie RV rental with confidence. After that, how much is refundable depends on how far out your trip is. You will see your exact terms during checkout and in your RVezy account before you pay in full. If something comes up, just reach out to RVezy support, the team handles cancellations directly so you are not negotiating with the host. If a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or provides travel credits. Book early, plan freely.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I find a pet-friendly RV rental in Schoharie, NY?
Absolutely, plenty of Schoharie hosts welcome dogs and cats. Just toggle the 'Pet-Friendly' filter on RVezy and you'll see motorhomes and travel trailers ready for your four-legged co-pilot, often with no extra cleaning fee beyond a small pet deposit set by the host. Once you're on the road, you'll find pet-friendly spots all over the area: Twin Oaks Campground in Schoharie allows leashed dogs, Max V. Shaul State Park welcomes pets on leash at campsites, and the trails up Vroman's Nose are a local favorite for dog walks with valley views. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm breed or size preferences, most are flexible and appreciate the heads-up.
parks.ny.gov/regulations/Can the RV be delivered to my campground or address in Schoharie?
Yes, RV delivery in Schoharie is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer if it's your first time renting an RV. Many local hosts will drive the motorhome or travel trailer straight to Max V. Shaul State Park, Twin Oaks Campground, a private property, or even a wedding venue in the Schoharie Valley, then level it, hook up water and electric, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees are usually based on mileage from the host's location, so closer drop-offs cost less. Filter by 'Delivery' on the search page, message a host with your destination address, and you'll get a quick quote. Show up, unpack, relax.
parks.ny.gov/camping/How far can I drive, and what's the mileage policy on a Schoharie RV rental?
You've got real range from Schoharie. Each host sets their own mileage policy on RVezy, typically including 100 to 150 free miles per night with additional miles around $0.30 to $0.50 each, and some listings even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is perfect for a longer New York RV trip. From Schoharie you can easily reach Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame (about 45 miles west), Albany (40 miles east), the Catskills' Hunter and Windham ski areas (about 50 miles south), Saratoga Springs (60 miles northeast), and Niagara Falls in a long day (around 290 miles). Pro tip: if you're planning a big loop, filter for unlimited-mileage listings first, it almost always saves money.
dot.ny.gov/indexWhere are the best campgrounds near Schoharie, NY?
You're spoiled for choice. Some of the best campgrounds near Schoharie, NY include Max V. Shaul State Park Campground in Fultonham (about 7 miles south, wooded sites along Schoharie Creek with modern restrooms), Twin Oaks Campground right in Schoharie (full hookups, a stocked fishing lake, and 50-amp service for big rigs), Catskill Mountains/Gilboa KOA Holiday (about 20 miles south, family-friendly with a pool), Hide-A-Way Campsites in Central Bridge (quiet wooded sites with full hookups), and Nickerson Park Campground in Gilboa (riverside camping on the Schoharie Creek). For state parks, reserve through ReserveAmerica up to 9 months in advance. Pro tip: weekends from late June through Labor Day book out fast, so lock in your site before you finalize your RV.
parks.ny.gov/parks/maxvshaul/When is the best time to rent an RV in Schoharie, NY?
Schoharie shines from late May through mid-October, with three sweet spots depending on your style. Late May to June brings green valleys, blooming farms, and daytime temps in the 65 to 78°F range, perfect for hiking Vroman's Nose without summer crowds. July and August are warm (80 to 88°F days, cool 60°F nights) and ideal for swimming at Mine Kill State Park and county fairs. The real local secret is late September into mid-October, when the Catskill foliage explodes in red and gold, and a Schoharie RV camping trip feels like driving through a postcard. Winter is cold and snowy (often below 25°F), so most campgrounds close after Columbus Day. Book fall weekends early, they're the most-requested dates of the year.
weather.gov/aly/I've never rented an RV before. Is Schoharie a good place to start?
Honestly, yes, Schoharie is a fantastic first-time RV destination. Roads in the valley are generally wide, traffic is light compared to NYC or Albany, and there's no shortage of straightforward state routes (Route 30, Route 7, and I-88) to ease you into driving. Every RVezy host gives you a full orientation at pickup, walking you through the slide-outs, propane, water systems, and dump procedures so you're not guessing. Many hosts also offer delivery, so if you'd rather skip the drive entirely on day one, the RV can be set up and waiting at your campsite. Pro tip: start with a smaller Class C or travel trailer for your first trip, they're easier to handle on the rolling Schoharie County back roads.
dmv.ny.gov/new-york-state-drivers-manualWhat happens if I have a breakdown or issue during my Schoharie RV trip?
You are covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so if you get a flat on Route 30, lock the keys in the cab at Howe Caverns, run out of fuel near Middleburgh, or need a tow back from the Catskills, help is one phone call away. You will also have a direct line to your host, who knows the rig inside and out and can troubleshoot quirks like a finicky generator or awning over the phone. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip, so you are never left to figure things out alone. Save both numbers in your phone before you pull out of the driveway.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Schoharie RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, most hosts in Schoharie are happy to let you cross state lines, which opens up amazing routes. Popular RV road trips from Schoharie include the Vermont Green Mountains (about 90 miles east), the New Hampshire White Mountains (around 230 miles northeast), the Finger Lakes wine country (150 miles west), and Acadia National Park in Maine (about 450 miles). Cross-border travel into Canada (Montreal is about 230 miles north) is allowed by many hosts when arranged in advance, so the protection package and insurance coverage extend properly, just message the host before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: mention your full route in your booking message, hosts love a clear plan.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-go/your-tripHow much should I budget for fuel on a Schoharie RV trip?
Fuel is easier to budget than most first-timers expect. Travel trailers don't burn extra gas beyond what your tow vehicle uses (typically 10 to 14 MPG when towing), Class B campervans get 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A rigs run 6 to 10 MPG. New York gas prices in the Schoharie/Albany region tend to sit slightly above the national average, often around $3.30 to $3.80 per gallon for regular. For a typical 4-night Schoharie RV trip covering 300 miles in a Class C, plan on roughly $90 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Cobleskill or Duanesburg on I-88, prices there are usually cheaper than at smaller village stations.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Schoharie?
Booking ahead is the single best move you can make. New York State Parks (including Max V. Shaul, Mine Kill, and Thompson's Lake) open reservations up to 9 months in advance through ReserveAmerica, and prime summer weekends, especially July 4 and Labor Day, often fill the day they open. Private campgrounds like Twin Oaks and the Gilboa KOA usually take reservations 6 to 12 months out through their own websites. For a Schoharie RV trip in foliage season (late September to mid-October), aim to book your site 3 to 6 months ahead. Pro tip: secure the campsite first, then book the RV on RVezy, that order gives you the most flexibility on dates.
newyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are driving conditions like around Schoharie, NY?
Driving around Schoharie is generally relaxed and RV-friendly. I-88 is the main artery, with wide lanes and gentle grades connecting Albany to Binghamton, perfect for getting comfortable behind the wheel of a motorhome. Local routes like NY-30 and NY-7 wind through scenic farmland with a few rolling hills, watch for low-hanging branches on small back roads and slow-moving farm equipment in summer. Winters bring snow and ice from December through March, which is why most rentals here are spring-through-fall trips. Cell coverage can dip in the hollows near Middleburgh and Gilboa, so download offline maps before you leave Schoharie village. Pro tip: avoid the narrow shortcut roads up into the Catskills with anything over 28 feet, stick to NY-30 south.
511ny.org/What hookups and amenities can I expect at Schoharie-area campgrounds?
You'll find solid infrastructure across the Schoharie Valley. Most private RV parks like Twin Oaks and Hide-A-Way Campsites offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, and sewer), Wi-Fi at the office, hot showers, laundry, and a dump station for use on arrival or departure. State parks like Max V. Shaul provide electric hookups at many sites plus potable water fill stations and a centralized dump station, but typically no sewer at the site itself. Need to refill propane? Tractor Supply in Cobleskill and several local hardware stores handle that. Pro tip: when you book your campsite, double-check the amp service matches your rental, your RVezy host will tell you whether your rig is 30 or 50 amp so you bring the right adapter.
parks.ny.gov/camping/rv-and-trailer-camping.aspxWhat's actually inside the RVs I can rent in Schoharie?
More comfort than you would guess. A typical motorhome rental in Schoharie comes fully equipped: a real queen or king bed, bunks or convertible dinettes for kids, a kitchen with fridge, freezer, microwave, stove, and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, air conditioning, furnace heat, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many listings include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, camp chairs, and an onboard generator for off-grid stays at spots like Mine Kill State Park. Wi-Fi is hit-or-miss in rural Schoharie County, so a few hosts add mobile hotspots as an option. Check each listing's amenities list before booking, and message the host if you need something specific like a coffee maker or pack-n-play.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Schoharie,%20New%20YorkWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about for my Schoharie RV rental?
Hosts in Schoharie offer some genuinely useful extras. Popular add-ons include linen and towel packages, kitchen kits with pots, pans, and dishes, bikes, kayaks, outdoor grills, generators, and even s'mores kits. Many listings are festival-friendly if you are heading to the Cobleskill Sunshine Fair or a Cooperstown tournament. Pickup is usually at the host's home or driveway in or near Schoharie, with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough covering all systems. Delivery to nearby campgrounds is widely available for a per-mile fee. Mileage policies vary by listing, anywhere from 100 free miles per night to unlimited. Pro tip: bundle delivery, linens, and a kitchen kit, you will roll into your campsite with nothing to set up.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Schoharie,%20New%20YorkHow do payment and the security deposit work for a Schoharie RV rental?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which protects both sides. Security deposits are separate from your booking payment and are typically pre-authorized on your card a few days before pickup, not charged unless there is damage or a policy violation like smoking or returning with empty propane. After a smooth trip, the hold is released within a few business days. To avoid issues: do a full walkaround with the host at pickup, take photos and videos of the interior and exterior, return the RV with the same fuel and propane level, and dump the tanks if your agreement requires it.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat are the best road trip routes from Schoharie, NY?
A Schoharie RV trip is one of the best launchpads in the Northeast. Top routes include the Cooperstown loop (45 miles west to the Baseball Hall of Fame and Otsego Lake, perfect for a 2-night family trip), the Catskills foliage drive south on NY-30 to Hunter, Phoenicia, and Woodstock (about 75 miles, stunning in October), the Saratoga and Lake George run northeast (90 miles, great for spas and lake swimming), and a longer Adirondacks loop through Lake Placid (about 180 miles). For a true bucket-list RV road trip from Schoharie, head west on I-88 and the Thruway to Niagara Falls (290 miles) or north to Montreal (230 miles). Pro tip: build in a stop at Howe Caverns just 8 miles from Schoharie, it's a hidden gem.
