Reuben went over the RV with us in good detail to explain how everything worked. The RV worked well for our trip and was well equipped. He went the extra mile to help us with the AC.

Sandy went above and beyond. Leading up to the rental dates she was in communication, making sure we were on the same page. I opted for delivery rather than pickup, and she made sure the rv was delivered early so we could fully enjoy the rental dates. We had a normal issue w the AC (the unit froze) but she was very communicative and helpful until the problem was solved (she suggested to turn it to fan in case the unit was frozen, and it quickly thawed). Always very sweet and courteous, always responsive. My four year old son loved the trailer, was very upset to understand that we had to give it back 😂. Thanks, Sandy!

Fantastic experience! The RV delivery and pick up were easy, the RV was clean and comfortable- our granddaughter loved the top bunk- and Owen communicated effectively, even when I texted him kind of late to ask about the stove. I would highly reccomend Owen!

We had a wonderful experience with Daniel and his camper. His communication and effort to make our trip as care-free as possible was above and beyond. From arranging pickup, ensuring correct hauling equipment, covering the ins and outs of the camper that allowed us to feel prepared and checking in on us during our time of use, we felt very cared for as guests of his camper! Would 10/10 recommend a stay if you’re in need of a great little home away from home!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Carlisle, PA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Carlisle, PA?
RV rental in Carlisle, PA is affordable compared to big-city markets like Philadelphia or NYC. Travel trailers typically average around $125 to $175 per night, while motorhomes range from about $200 to $300 per night, and many hosts offer weekly or monthly discounts. For a cheap RV rental in Carlisle, search mid-week pickups in shoulder months like April, May, and late September when local demand is lower. Filter by Instant Book to compare real-time pricing, and message hosts directly to ask about bundled add-ons like camp chairs or bedding kits. Pro tip: avoid the Spring and Fall Carlisle Car Show weeks for the best rates, since regional demand spikes during those events.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Carlisle,%20PennsylvaniaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Carlisle, PA?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Carlisle, no commercial driver's license (CDL) or special RV endorsement required in Pennsylvania for any of the motorhomes or travel trailers on the platform. You'll need to be at least 25 years old, and RVezy verifies your ID right through the booking process, so there's no extra paperwork on pickup day. Visiting from abroad? Pair your home license with an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto club before you fly in. Most first-time renters in Cumberland County are surprised how straightforward it is, you book, you verify, you drive.
dmv.pa.gov/Driver-Services/Driver-Licensing/Pages/default.aspxWhat protection is included when I rent an RV in Carlisle?
Every RV rental in Carlisle, PA includes an RVezy renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Route 11 or I-81 with peace of mind. The protection plan covers most physical damage to the RV during your trip, and the guest (not the host) chooses the coverage tier during checkout. This is substantial financial protection built into the booking, not traditional auto insurance. Pro tip: review the protection options before you confirm, families heading to Pine Grove Furnace State Park often choose a higher tier for extra confidence on Pennsylvania's winding mountain roads.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Carlisle RV rental?
Booking is low-risk because RVezy (not the individual host) sets the cancellation policy, and there is a grace period after booking during which you can cancel for a full refund. Specific refund amounts depend on how far in advance you cancel. You won't see cancellation terms inside each listing because the policy is handled at the platform level, so review it on RVezy's site before confirming. If a host cancels, RVezy refunds the guest or provides travel credit. Pro tip: if severe weather is forecasted near your travel dates around Carlisle, contact RVezy support early, they are available to help sort options.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Carlisle RV trip?
Yes, pet-friendly RV rental in Carlisle is easy to find. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see hosts who welcome dogs (some allow cats too), often with a small pet fee. Carlisle is a great dog town: Children's Lake in Boiling Springs has a flat, leashed-dog-friendly loop, the LeTort Spring Run trails are shady and creekside, and Pine Grove Furnace State Park welcomes leashed pets on most trails including the Appalachian Trail midpoint. Message the host before booking to confirm any rules around size or breed. Pro tip: bring a portable water bowl, Cumberland Valley summers get humid and your pup will thank you.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/PineGroveFurnaceStatePark/Pages/default.aspxCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Carlisle?
Yes, RV delivery in Carlisle is one of the smartest moves for first-timers. Many local hosts will drive the RV directly to campgrounds like Western Village RV Park or Pine Grove Furnace State Park, or even to a private address, then level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. That means no towing stress, no backing into a tight site, and no learning curve on day one. Delivery fees vary by distance, so use the Delivery filter and message the host with your destination for an exact quote. Pro tip: bundle delivery with a setup and teardown add-on and your Carlisle RV trip becomes essentially plug-and-play.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Carlisle,%20PennsylvaniaHow far can I drive on an RV road trip from Carlisle?
Carlisle sits at the crossroads of I-81 and I-76 (the Pennsylvania Turnpike), making it one of the best RV launchpads on the East Coast. Easy day-trip range covers Gettysburg (about 30 miles south), Hershey (about 25 miles east), Lancaster's Amish Country (about 60 miles east), and Harrisburg (about 20 miles northeast). Longer routes from Carlisle include Washington, DC (about 125 miles south), the Pocono Mountains (about 150 miles northeast), Shenandoah National Park (about 160 miles south), and Niagara Falls (about 320 miles north). Each host sets their own mileage policy, and some Carlisle listings offer unlimited mileage. Pro tip: filter by RV rental with unlimited mileage if you're planning a multi-state loop through PA, MD, and VA.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhere are the best campgrounds near Carlisle, PA?
Carlisle is surrounded by excellent campgrounds for every style of RV camping. Western Village RV Park, right in Carlisle, offers 30 and 50 amp service and big-rig pull-throughs and is the go-to for Carlisle Fairgrounds events. Pine Grove Furnace State Park (about 15 miles southwest) offers electric sites, two lakes, and the Appalachian Trail midpoint. Colonel Denning State Park offers more rustic, scenic camping in the Tuscarora State Forest area. Cowans Gap State Park to the west is another scenic option with a lake and electric sites. For Amish country day trips, Hershey-area campgrounds sit about 30 minutes east. Pro tip: Pennsylvania state park sites can be booked up to 11 months in advance, so reserve Pine Grove Furnace early for summer weekends.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/PineGroveFurnaceStatePark/Pages/default.aspxWhen is the best time to RV in Carlisle?
The sweet spot for RV camping in Carlisle is late April through mid-October, with peak conditions in June, July, and August when highs typically sit in the low to mid 80s F. September and early October bring crisp days in the 60s and 70s plus stunning fall foliage across the Cumberland Valley, a local favorite season. Winters are cold (January average highs near the upper 30s F with lows in the low 20s F and periodic snow), so most campgrounds operate seasonally from April through October, though a few stay open year-round. May and June tend to be the wettest months, so pack rain gear. Pro tip: time your visit around the Spring (April) or Fall (October) Carlisle Car Shows for one of America's biggest automotive events, and book your RV months ahead.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never rented an RV before. Is Carlisle a good place to start?
Carlisle is one of the easiest places in the Northeast for a first time renting an RV. Roads are wide, terrain in the immediate valley is gently rolling rather than steep, and your host gives you a full orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water systems, propane, and dump procedures before you drive off. Many hosts also deliver and set up at your campground so your first night is stress-free. You can message your host any time during the trip, and RVezy support is available to help with booking questions. Pro tip: pick a quiet first night close by, Western Village RV Park is only a few miles from downtown Carlisle, so you can settle in before heading off on a bigger adventure.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if something goes wrong on the road?
You're never alone out there. Every RV rental in Carlisle, PA includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and fuel delivery, day or night. If something mechanical or electrical pops up at the campground, message your host directly through RVezy since they know their rig best, and RVezy customer support is also reachable for booking or coverage questions. Pro tip: snap a few photos at pickup of the exterior, tires, and dash gauges, it speeds up any roadside or claim conversation later and keeps the trip moving.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Carlisle RV rental into other states or across the border?
Yes, multi-state RV road trips from Carlisle are popular, and most hosts welcome travel throughout the Lower 48. From Carlisle you can easily reach Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Ohio. Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and their insurance, so message them directly before booking to confirm and discuss any cross-border paperwork. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because protection coverage does not extend there. Popular interstate routes include Carlisle to Shenandoah National Park (about 160 miles), Carlisle to the Outer Banks (about 400 miles), and Carlisle to Acadia National Park in Maine. Pro tip: confirm any border plans in writing through RVezy messaging.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of gas mileage and fuel budget should I plan for?
Plan smart and fuel won't sneak up on you. Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 12 mpg, Class B campervans 15 to 20 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle but usually drop it 3 to 5 mpg below normal. Pennsylvania gas prices generally run a bit above the national average due to state fuel taxes, so budget accordingly when filling up around Carlisle (Sheetz and Rutter's stations along I-81 and Route 11 are common and often easy for RVs). For a typical 300-mile loop in a Class C, expect roughly $100 to $150 in fuel depending on prices. Pro tip: fuel up in Carlisle before heading into the mountains toward Cowans Gap, prices often climb in smaller towns.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Carlisle?
Booking early pays off in the Cumberland Valley. Pennsylvania State Parks like Pine Grove Furnace, Colonel Denning, Cowans Gap, and Gifford Pinchot use a rolling reservation window through the official state system and accept bookings up to 11 months in advance, with summer weekends filling fast. Private parks like Western Village RV Park take direct reservations and typically need 2 to 4 weeks of lead time, except during Carlisle Car Show weeks (April and October) when they can be booked many months ahead. For a last-minute Carlisle RV trip, try mid-week arrivals. Pro tip: bookmark the Pennsylvania DCNR reservation site and watch for cancellations.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/Reservations/Pages/default.aspxWhat are the driving conditions like around Carlisle?
Carlisle is one of the friendliest RV driving towns on the East Coast: flat downtown grid, generous parking, and direct access to I-81, I-76 (PA Turnpike), and US Route 11. Once you head into the surrounding Tuscarora and South Mountain areas you'll hit some grades and winding two-lane roads (PA-233 toward Pine Grove Furnace is scenic but narrow), so take it slow and use lower gears on descents. Winter brings snow and ice from December through March, with PennDOT actively plowing major routes. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk year-round. Pro tip: check 511PA before you roll out, it gives live traffic, construction, and weather alerts statewide and is a lifesaver near Harrisburg interchanges.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/511PA.aspxWhat amenities will I find at Carlisle-area campgrounds?
Carlisle-area campgrounds are well-equipped for a smooth RV camping experience. Western Village RV Park typically offers 30 and 50 amp electric, water, sewer, WiFi, a pool, and a camp store. Pennsylvania State Parks like Pine Grove Furnace provide electric hookups, modern restrooms with showers, and dump stations (no sewer at individual sites). Most local campgrounds have a centralized potable water fill and dump station, and several truck stops along I-81 near Harrisburg offer RV dumping for a small fee. Pro tip: confirm electric amperage with your host before booking, larger Class A motorhomes often need 50 amp service while smaller campervans run fine on 30 amp.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/WhatToDo/Camping/Pages/default.aspxWhat's typically included in a Carlisle RV rental?
Most Carlisle motorhome rentals and travel trailers come fully equipped for camping out of the box. Expect a fully outfitted kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink, cookware), a bathroom with toilet and shower, sleeping for 4 to 8 depending on RV type, seatbelts for travel passengers, propane heat, roof air conditioning, and a house battery system. Many hosts include linens, towels, camp chairs, outdoor mats, and basic tools. WiFi hotspots, generators, and TVs are common upgrades you can confirm by filtering listings or messaging the host. Pro tip: check the listing's amenity list carefully and ask about a starter kit (soap, paper towels, coffee), several Carlisle hosts include one which saves a grocery stop on your first night.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Carlisle,%20PennsylvaniaWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Carlisle hosts offer a strong mix of add-ons that make life easier: delivery and setup (often within 30 to 50 miles of Carlisle), generators, bedding and towel packages, kitchen kits, camp chairs and tables, fire pits, bike racks, kayak racks, and pet packages. Mileage policies vary, some listings include 100 to 150 free miles per night, others offer unlimited mileage, which is ideal for a Carlisle to Niagara Falls or DC loop. Pickup is typically at the host's address, often just minutes from I-81. Pro tip: build your add-on list before you message the host, then ask for a bundled quote, many hosts will discount when you book multiple extras together, especially for week-long Cumberland Valley trips.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Carlisle,%20PennsylvaniaHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy at booking using a credit or debit card, and your charge covers the nightly rate, protection plan, service fees, and any add-ons you've selected. A refundable security deposit is held separately from the booking payment, the amount depends on the RV and the protection tier you choose. As long as you return the RV in the agreed condition and within the mileage and generator hours, the hold is released after the trip. Pro tip: do a quick walkaround video with your host at pickup and dropoff in Carlisle, it's the single best way to keep your deposit return fast and friction-free.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Carlisle during winter?
Yes, and a winter RV trip from Carlisle can be memorable if you prep right. Several hosts keep their rigs available year-round, especially Class C motorhomes and campervans with propane furnaces and shore-power-ready electric systems. Filter for four-season or winter-ready listings and message the host to confirm heated tanks, insulated skirting, and antifreeze setup. Most state park campgrounds close for camping by mid-December, but Western Village RV Park typically stays open year-round, and you can also head south toward Shenandoah for milder temps. January lows in Carlisle average in the low 20s F, so dress in layers and plan shorter driving days. Pro tip: pair a winter Carlisle RV rental with Hershey's Christmas Candylane for a festive family getaway.
