Our experience with Eugene’s RV was awesome!!! On another platform we had our original RV host cancel last minute which left us without an RV just days before our Labor Day plans. Booking on the RVezy platform was a cinch and Eugene was super responsive and confirmed us with very short notice! Eugene’s drop-off and hook up was perfect!!! Great floor plan, space, and amenities for our family of 5 for the long weekend. All linens and blankets were provided, pillows were decent, too (not super flat like some camping/travel pillows and not too firm like some hotels can be). Plenty of A/C outlets and USB chargers for recharging phones and nighttime use of the CPAP. Bathroom was fully stocked; including towels for shower. Water pressure was great in the shower and all toilet and sewage worked like a charm. The dining table easily fit four and the extra couch was great for everyone to spread out and sit. Setting the thermostat and vents took a little getting used to but all AC/heat, fans, etc. worked perfectly!! We enjoyed a cooler night’s sleep and would get the heat on in the mornings and within 5 minutes or so we were good to go for morning routines. Gas stovetop was very efficient and the kitchen area, too, was well stocked for cleaning and even included some seasonings! The RV as a whole was well maintained and clean and everything worked perfectly. We will definitely reach out to Eugene again for future RV rentals!

Host is accomadating & honest. This is my 2nd year renting from him. I have no complaints & I appreciate his service. We treat this camper as our own & leave it in the manner it was left to us. Mike dropped off, set up & tore down & retrieved at conclusion of our trip. Mike & his Wife are good people. I look forward to next year!

We had such a great experience renting from PJ! My wife, son, and I had an amazing camping trip. PJ went above and beyond—he delivered, set up, and picked up the RV for us, which made everything so easy. The RV was super clean and stocked with everything we needed: cooking supplies, chairs to relax in, cleaning essentials, and plenty of food storage. The bedding was fantastic as well—we were extremely comfortable the whole time. You can tell PJ really cares about making sure his guests have a great time. Great communication as well. Highly recommend!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Catawissa, PA

How much does an RV rental in Catawissa, PA typically cost?

Renting an RV in Catawissa is one of the more affordable ways to explore central Pennsylvania. On RVezy, travel trailers in the Catawissa area generally start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run roughly $175 to $275, and larger Class A motorhomes range from $250 to $400 nightly. Prices peak from late June through Labor Day and during Knoebels Amusement Park's biggest weekends. For a cheap RV rental in Catawissa, target midweek dates in May or September, look for hosts offering weekly discounts, and use the price filter to sort listings. Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Catawissa, PA?

Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Catawissa. Pennsylvania does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes or travel trailers in the sizes you'll find on RVezy. RVezy approved drivers are generally required to be at least 25 years old with a valid license, and your ID is verified securely through the booking platform before your trip. International visitors should bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with their home license. Most first-time renters are surprised at how simple the paperwork is, you can be approved and booked for your Susquehanna River getaway in a single afternoon.

What protection is included with my Catawissa RV rental?

Every RV rental in Catawissa booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built right in, so you can hit Route 42 with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers most physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level during checkout, not the host, so you can pick what fits your comfort and budget. Designed specifically for peer-to-peer RV rentals, it removes the stress of wondering what happens if a tree branch on a back road near Roaring Creek brushes the awning. Pick your plan at booking and you're set.

When is the best time to take an RV trip from Catawissa, PA?

Catawissa shines from late April through late October, with each season offering something different. May and June bring blooming rhododendrons at Ricketts Glen and average highs in the 70s Fahrenheit. July and August are peak summer with highs in the mid 80s, perfect for Knoebels and Susquehanna River tubing, though humidity climbs. The real local secret is late September through mid-October, when the Endless Mountains explode into red and gold foliage, daytime temps sit in the comfortable 60s, and campgrounds quiet down. Winters get cold with averages in the 20s and 30s and snow, and most area campgrounds close from November to April. Pro tip: book a fall foliage RV trip a month or two ahead, leaf-peepers fill weekends fast.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving in the Catawissa area?

You're going to do great, and Catawissa is actually a wonderful spot for first time renting an RV. Roads here are scenic but manageable: Route 42 and Route 487 are rural two-lanes, Interstate 80 sits just a short drive north for easy highway travel, and the town itself has low traffic. Your RVezy host provides a full walkthrough at pickup covering hookups, slide-outs, tanks, and driving tips, and 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every booking through the protection plan. Stick to daylight driving for your first few hours, take wider turns than feels natural, and remember the RV's height (most are 10 to 13 feet). Within an hour you'll feel like a pro cruising along the Susquehanna.

What happens if I have a breakdown during my Catawissa RV trip?

You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so if you get a flat on Route 42, lose power at a Lake Glory campsite, or have engine trouble climbing toward Ricketts Glen, one phone call gets help dispatched. The service covers situations like towing, jump starts, tire changes, lockouts, and fuel delivery. Your host is also typically just a text away, locals who know exactly which Catawissa mechanic to recommend if something needs a deeper look. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number and your host's contact in your phone before you pull out of the driveway, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate for quick reference.

Yes, an RV road trip from Catawissa across state lines is totally doable. New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, and Ohio are all within a comfortable day's drive, and the Finger Lakes, Adirondacks, and Atlantic beaches are popular RVezy routes. Cross-border travel to Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the insurance attached to the listing, so message the host before booking if Niagara Falls (Ontario side) or Quebec is on your itinerary. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: from Catawissa, the drive to the U.S. side of Niagara Falls is about 4.5 hours, an easy and stunning weekend route.

What kind of fuel mileage should I budget for, and where can I gas up near Catawissa?

Budgeting fuel for your Catawissa RV trip is pretty straightforward. Travel trailers don't burn their own fuel, your tow vehicle's mileage simply drops by 25 to 35 percent. Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A's get 6 to 10, and Class B campervans can hit 18 to 22. Pennsylvania gas prices generally run a bit above the national average, with diesel slightly higher than regular unleaded. Fill up at the Sheetz on Route 42 in Catawissa or larger truck-friendly Pilot and Flying J locations along Interstate 80, which have high-clearance pumps suited for tall rigs. Pro tip: use GasBuddy and fuel up before climbing toward Ricketts Glen, options thin out fast in the mountains.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book a campground near Catawissa?

For peace of mind, book your campground as soon as your RV rental in Catawissa is confirmed. Pennsylvania State Parks like Ricketts Glen take reservations up to 11 months in advance through the state's reservation system, and popular summer weekends and fall foliage dates fill almost that fast. Private campgrounds like Knoebels Campground, Lake Glory, and Ideal Park typically open bookings months ahead, with Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends selling out first. For midweek or shoulder-season stays, 2 to 4 weeks ahead is usually plenty. Pro tip: if Ricketts Glen is full, check daily, cancellations pop up regularly and the reservation system shows openings in real time.

What are the local driving conditions like around Catawissa, PA?

Driving in and around Catawissa is one of the more relaxed RV experiences in the Northeast. The town sits along the Susquehanna River with easy access to Route 42, Route 487, and Interstate 80 just to the north. Roads are mostly two-lane rural with rolling hills, some tight curves on Route 487 climbing toward Ricketts Glen, and a few narrow covered-bridge approaches you'll want to skip in a big rig (Catawissa is home to several historic covered bridges, beautiful but low-clearance). Winter brings snow and occasional ice from December through March. Pro tip: avoid driving big motorhomes through downtown Bloomsburg during the Bloomsburg Fair in late September, traffic is legendary, take Route 11 around instead.

You'll find propane refills at local hardware stores and farm supply shops in the Catawissa area. Pro tip: if you're boondocking or staying at an electric-only site, top off fresh water before leaving the campground entrance and dump on your way out, the dump station at Ricketts Glen is free for registered campers.

You'll pay your rental total (plus any add-ons and the protection plan) at booking using a credit or debit card. The security deposit is separate from the booking payment, with the amount shown clearly on the listing and authorized on your card around the start of your trip. The deposit isn't charged unless there's damage or a policy violation, and it's released back to you after the trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. Pro tip: do a quick video walkaround of the RV at both pickup and drop-off, it's the easiest way to ensure a smooth deposit release.
