Dealing with Scott was fantastic! This was my first time renting a trailer and he made things a breeze. He was very easy to communicate with and delivered as promised. We opted for delivery and he was right on time for drop off and pick up! Very helpful throughout the process. As for the trailer, it was exactly as advertised. It was extremely clean and well maintained. Even stocked with cookware, utensils, and dishes. As well as towels, pillows, and bed linens, all clean, fresh and neatly folded. The campground we stayed at did not have electric hookups, so we rented his generator as well. Worked great, easy start up and was decent on fuel consumption. I saw a review complaining about rodents, but there were absolutely no signs of them anywhere. I would absolutely recommend Scott and his trailer to anyone and plan to use him in the future!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Fayetteville, PA

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Fayetteville, PA?

An RV rental in Fayetteville is one of the more affordable ways to explore South Mountain and the Gettysburg area. On RVezy, expect roughly $90 to $175 per night for travel trailers, $125 to $225 for Class C motorhomes, and $200 to $350 for larger Class A coaches. Because hosts set their own pricing, you can find a cheap RV rental in Fayetteville by booking midweek, traveling in shoulder months like April or October, or filtering by smaller campervans. Many Fayetteville hosts also offer multi-night discounts of 10 to 20 percent, so a four-night Caledonia State Park trip often costs less per night than a quick weekend.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Fayetteville, PA?

Your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Fayetteville. Pennsylvania does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or a special RV endorsement for the motorhomes and travel trailers available on RVezy. You'll need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID right inside the booking platform, so there's no paperwork to chase. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP), usually under $25 from your local auto club. Most first-time renters are surprised how quickly the process moves from booking to driving away.

You're covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Fayetteville on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can pull out of the driveway with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers most damage to the vehicle during your trip, and you choose your level of coverage during checkout based on how far you're traveling and how confident you feel behind the wheel. What if I need to cancel my Fayetteville RV trip?

Plans change, and RVezy makes that easy. RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every booking, not individual hosts, and there's a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your Fayetteville RV trip without worry. After that window, refunds depend on how far out from your trip you cancel. You'll see the exact terms before you confirm payment. If a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or provides travel credit. Book early to secure the best Caledonia or Gettysburg-area rigs and you'll still have flexibility if your schedule shifts.

Additional miles, when needed, typically run $0.30 to $0.45 each. Map your route before booking and message the host with your total; many will bundle extra miles into a discount for longer trips.

Where are the best campgrounds near Fayetteville, PA?

You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Fayetteville start with Caledonia State Park, which offers 184 sites across two camping loops with a mix of non-electric, electric, and full-hookup options. About 12 miles north, Pine Grove Furnace State Park sits at the midpoint of the Appalachian Trail with lakeside camping. Drive 15 miles east and you've got Artillery Ridge Camping Resort and Gettysburg Campground for battlefield access. Michaux State Forest offers more rustic, primitive sites for campervan rental adventures around Fayetteville. State park sites can be booked 11 months out, so reserve summer weekends early.

When is the best time to visit Fayetteville for an RV trip?

Late April through late October is prime time for RV camping in Fayetteville, matching the Caledonia State Park camping season. Spring (April to early June) brings 60 to 75 degree days, blooming dogwoods, and trout-stocked Conococheague Creek. Summer (June to August) runs warm and humid with highs in the mid-80s, but evenings cool down nicely at South Mountain elevation. Fall (mid-September to late October) is the local insider's pick: 50 to 70 degree days, fiery foliage across Michaux State Forest, and far fewer crowds. Columbus Day weekend foliage is stunning but books out months ahead, so lock in your Fayetteville motorhome rental early.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?

You're going to do great. First time renting an RV in Fayetteville is genuinely easy because every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup: how the propane works, how to extend the slides, how to dump tanks, and how to hook up at the campground. You can also message the host with questions before you even book. The rural roads around Fayetteville (US 30, PA 233, Pine Grove Road) are wide, lightly trafficked, and far more forgiving than city driving. Book a smaller Class C or campervan for trip one, and pick a closer campground like Caledonia State Park (about 5 miles out) so you can relax into the experience.

What happens if something goes wrong on the road?

Help is always one tap away. Every RV rental in Fayetteville on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on Lincoln Highway (US 30) or a dead battery at a campground is handled fast. The roadside team coordinates towing, tire service, jump-starts, lockouts, and fuel delivery, and RVezy's customer support is reachable anytime through the app or by phone. Your host is also a great first call for quirks specific to their RV. Snap photos of the panel and hookups during your walkthrough; if you ever need to call support, you can describe exactly what you're seeing.

Can I take my Fayetteville RV rental into Maryland, Virginia, or further?

Yes, and this is one of the best things about an RV road trip from Fayetteville. You're perfectly positioned for multi-state adventures: Antietam Battlefield is about 30 miles south in Maryland, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia is roughly 50 miles, Shenandoah National Park is around 90 miles, and the Outer Banks are a long but doable drive. Cross-state travel within the US is welcome on RVezy. Travel into Mexico is not permitted because insurance and protection coverage don't extend there. Trips into Canada may be allowed; message your host to confirm before booking. The Lincoln Highway (US 30) west delivers gorgeous Allegheny scenery if you want to add a Pittsburgh swing.

How much should I budget for fuel?

Easier to budget than you might think. Pennsylvania gas prices typically run around $3.30 to $3.70 per gallon, with diesel slightly higher. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class B campervans get 14 to 20 MPG, and a truck pulling a travel trailer lands around 10 to 14 MPG. For a 300-mile loop from Fayetteville to Gettysburg, Hershey, and back, expect roughly $80 to $130 in fuel for a midsize motorhome. Pro tip: fill up at the Sheetz or Rutter's in Chambersburg (10 miles west) before heading into Michaux State Forest, since stations get sparse once you climb into South Mountain. GasBuddy is your friend.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book a campground?

Sooner is better, but you've got options. Pennsylvania State Parks open reservations up to 11 months in advance through the official reservation system, and Caledonia State Park's summer weekends, especially around July 4th, fill quickly after opening. Aim for 4 to 6 months ahead for peak summer, 6 to 8 weeks for spring or fall weekends, and 1 to 2 weeks for weekdays. Private parks like Drummer Boy Camping Resort or Gettysburg Campground often have more last-minute openings. If Caledonia is sold out, check Pine Grove Furnace State Park (about 12 miles north) or message your RVezy host for ideas on Michaux State Forest sites.

What are the driving conditions like around Fayetteville?

Honestly, they're a treat compared to most metro areas. Fayetteville sits along US 30 (the Lincoln Highway), a wide two-lane road with gentle grades through South Mountain. PA 233, which leads to Caledonia State Park and Pine Grove Furnace, has some moderate climbs and curves but is fully RV-friendly. I-81 is just 10 miles west for fast travel north to Harrisburg or south to Hagerstown. Winter brings occasional snow and ice from December through March, so most renters stick to April-October. Pro tip: avoid driving Pine Grove Road in the Michaux State Forest after dark, deer are very active at dusk, and a slow, steady speed will keep your motorhome rental Fayetteville trip drama-free.

What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Fayetteville?

You'll be comfortable. Caledonia State Park offers drinking water, warm-water showers, flush toilets, and sanitary dump stations, plus a mix of non-electric, electric, and full-hookup sites. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Generators are allowed during posted hours. The park also features a swimming pool, 18-hole golf course, and amphitheater. WiFi is limited near the park office, so plan for a digital detox. Private parks like Gettysburg Campground offer pools, playgrounds, and stronger WiFi. Fill fresh water before leaving the dump station, the spigot there is high-pressure and fast.

What's inside the RVs available in Fayetteville?

More than you'd expect. RVs listed on RVezy in the Fayetteville area typically come with real beds (queen masters, bunks, convertible dinettes), full kitchens with stove, fridge, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control (AC and furnace), and seatbelted travel seats for your party. Many include outdoor awnings, TVs, Bluetooth speakers, and a generator for boondocking in Michaux State Forest. Linens, kitchenware, and camp chairs are often included or available as add-ons. Each RVezy listing page has a complete amenities checklist, so filter by your must-haves, whether that's bunks for the kids or an outdoor kitchen for a family RV trip in Fayetteville after a day at the Gettysburg battlefield.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Fayetteville,Pennsylvania

What add-ons and pickup options are available?

Hosts make customizing your trip easy. Popular add-ons for a Fayetteville RV trip include linens and towels packages ($25 to $75), camp chairs and outdoor mats, generators or extra propane, bike racks, kid bunk setups, and pre-stocked kitchen kits. Pickup is typically at the host's home in or near Fayetteville, Chambersburg, or Gettysburg, with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough covering everything from slide-outs to dump procedures. Mileage policies vary by host (commonly 100 to 150 free per night), and many offer unlimited mileage upgrades. Interested in a one-way trip? Message the host directly from the listing page; some accept one-ways to Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, or DC for an additional fee.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Fayetteville,Pennsylvania

How do payment and the security deposit work?

It's all handled in the RVezy app, no cash exchanges. You'll pay your rental total securely at booking with a credit card, and the host's security deposit (commonly $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig) is held as a pre-authorization on your card before pickup, not actually charged. After a smooth return, the hold is released within a few business days. If there's incidental damage, the protection plan you chose at checkout covers most situations, so the deposit rarely comes into play. Do a quick photo walkaround with your host at pickup and dropoff in Fayetteville: it takes two minutes and keeps the deposit return easy and dispute-free.
