🌄 Our First RV Adventure—10 Days of Fun & Freedom! - This was our very first RV vacation, and while we were a little hesitant at first, Bill made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. He was incredibly helpful—available before, during, and even after our trip to answer questions and offer support. His thorough walkthrough before we hit the road gave us confidence, especially with tips on what to do in different situations. We took the RV for 10 days from South Florida to the mountains of Maryland, stopping at six different campgrounds and even plugging in at my sister’s and in-laws’ homes for a few nights. The RV had everything we needed and was in great shape—clean, well-equipped, and surprisingly easy to drive. We returned it with just a minor hubcap issue and no other problems, which felt like a blessing after such a big trip. We had an absolute blast and would highly recommend this RV to anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable, and fun way to travel. Thanks again, Bill!

Dealing with Scott was fantastic! This was my first time renting a trailer and he made things a breeze. He was very easy to communicate with and delivered as promised. We opted for delivery and he was right on time for drop off and pick up! Very helpful throughout the process. As for the trailer, it was exactly as advertised. It was extremely clean and well maintained. Even stocked with cookware, utensils, and dishes. As well as towels, pillows, and bed linens, all clean, fresh and neatly folded. The campground we stayed at did not have electric hookups, so we rented his generator as well. Worked great, easy start up and was decent on fuel consumption. I saw a review complaining about rodents, but there were absolutely no signs of them anywhere. I would absolutely recommend Scott and his trailer to anyone and plan to use him in the future!

What license do I need to rent an RV in Greencastle, PA?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Greencastle, PA. Pennsylvania does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or special endorsement for personal RVs, including large Class A motorhomes and fifth wheels, as long as they're being used for recreational purposes. You'll just need to be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and your ID is verified securely through the platform during checkout. Visiting from outside the U.S.? How much should I budget for fuel on a Greencastle RV trip?

Fuel is one of the bigger trip costs, but it's easy to budget for in Greencastle. Pennsylvania gas prices typically run a bit above the national average due to state fuel taxes, so plan accordingly. Realistic fuel economy: travel trailers towed by a half-ton truck get 10 to 14 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, and large Class A coaches run 6 to 9 MPG. For a 300-mile weekend loop through Gettysburg, Antietam, and Harpers Ferry in a Class C, expect to spend roughly $90 to $130 on gas. Pro tip: there are Sheetz and Rutter's stations along Route 11 and I-81 in Greencastle and Chambersburg with diesel pumps that easily accommodate large RVs, often with cheaper per-gallon pricing than highway exits.

How far ahead should I book a campground near Greencastle?

For the best sites, book your campground 2 to 6 months ahead, especially for summer weekends and dates near the July 1 to 3 Gettysburg Battle Anniversary. Pennsylvania state parks like Caledonia and Cowans Gap use the official Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system, which opens bookings up to 11 months in advance, and the prime weekends snap up quickly. Private parks like Hagerstown/Antietam KOA and Gettysburg Battlefield Resort book through their own websites and usually have more last-minute availability. Pro tip: if you are planning a spontaneous Greencastle RV trip, target Sunday through Wednesday arrivals, when even busy parks have openings, and ask your RVezy host for their favorite local campground that does not show up on the big booking sites.

What are driving conditions like around Greencastle, PA?

Driving an RV around Greencastle is genuinely beginner-friendly. The town sits in the rolling Cumberland Valley at about 600 feet elevation, with flat-to-gently-rolling terrain and well-maintained roads. I-81 is the major artery, with wide lanes and easy on-ramps right in Greencastle at Exit 5. Route 11 and Route 16 handle local travel comfortably for RVs of any size. Things to watch for: low clearance under the old railroad bridge in downtown Greencastle (stay on the truck route), winter ice on the steeper grades heading east toward Caledonia, and summer thunderstorms that can pop up quickly. Pro tip: avoid driving through historic downtown Mercersburg in anything over 30 feet; instead take Route 16 to Route 416 for a smoother route to Cowans Gap.

State park campgrounds like Caledonia and Cowans Gap typically offer electric hookups (no sewer at the site) plus a centralized dump station, potable water fill, modern restrooms, and hot showers. For freshwater fill-ups on the road, the Sheetz at Greencastle Exit 5 has potable water available, and many local hosts will top off your fresh tank before delivery. How does payment and the security deposit work on an RVezy booking in Greencastle?

Payment is simple and secure on every RV rental in Greencastle, PA. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host in cash. A separate security deposit hold is placed on your card before pickup and released after the RV is returned in the same condition it left, typically within a few days. Deposit amounts vary by RV class and host. To avoid any deposit issues: take time-stamped photos and a quick video walkaround at pickup and return, follow the host instructions for tanks and propane, and return the RV with the fuel level it started with. Pro tip: keep gas receipts from local stations like Sheetz on Route 11 in case there is any question about your fill-up.

Where can I park an RV overnight in Greencastle outside of campgrounds?

You have a few solid options for overnight RV parking in and around Greencastle. Many Walmart and Cracker Barrel locations along I-81 have historically been RV-friendly for one-night stays; always go inside and ask the manager first as a courtesy, as policies are set by each individual store. For dispersed camping, Michaux State Forest about 25 minutes east allows primitive motorized camping in designated areas with a free permit from the district office. Rest areas on I-81 in Pennsylvania allow short rest stops but not overnight stays. Pro tip: if you are rolling in late and need a quick stop, the Flying J in Carlisle (about 40 minutes north on I-81) has dedicated RV parking, a dump station, and propane fill, making it a popular pit stop for travelers heading into the Cumberland Valley.
