Shawn and Melinda made it easy to hold a memorable Penn State tailgate, even for someone like me who is new to RV rental. The Beaver Stadium RV lot didn’t have RV hookups so they made sure we had water and extra gas for the generator. They thought if every detail. The RV was super clean and well-stocked. They had excellent communication and were so friendly and helpful. I would 100% rent from them again.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Lamar, PA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Lamar, PA?
Good news: RV rental in Lamar, PA is one of the more affordable ways to explore central Pennsylvania. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $275, and larger Class A rigs sit between $250 and $400 nightly. To find a cheap RV rental in Lamar, PA, book midweek, target shoulder seasons (late April to early June or September), and use the price filter to sort low to high. Pro tip: many Nittany Valley hosts discount weekly bookings, so if you are planning a Bald Eagle State Park getaway, ask about a 7 night rate before you book.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lamar%2C%20PennsylvaniaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Lamar, PA?
Great news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Lamar, PA. Pennsylvania does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for the motorhomes, travel trailers, and campervans on RVezy. Approved drivers are generally 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID right inside the platform during booking, so there is no extra paperwork. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside your home license. Most first time renters are surprised how simple it is to roll out of Lamar and head straight for the Pennsylvania Wilds.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection comes with my Lamar, PA RV rental?
You're covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Lamar, PA on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can pull off I 80 at Exit 173 with real peace of mind. The protection plan helps cover damage to the vehicle during your trip, and you choose your coverage level at checkout, not the host. It is not traditional auto insurance, but it provides meaningful financial protection if something unexpected happens on the Allegheny back roads. Pro tip: review the coverage tiers carefully at checkout and pick the one that matches your route, especially if you are heading into the Pennsylvania Wilds where service is sparse.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Lamar, PA RV trip?
Booking is genuinely low risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (hosts do not), and it includes a grace period after booking where you can cancel for a full refund, plus tiered refunds based on how far out your trip is. If a host cancels, RVezy refunds you or provides travel credit so your plans stay on track. Central PA can throw a curveball with summer thunderstorms or a January ice event, and RVezy customer support is there to help. Pro tip: book your Lamar RV trip earlier rather than later, you will lock in the best rigs near Bald Eagle State Park and still have flexibility thanks to the grace period.

Letterman Campground, and the Mid State Trail just east of Lamar is a tail wagging favorite. R. B. Winter State Park, about an hour southeast, also has pet friendly camping loops. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and any breed or size notes, then pack a tie out, towel, and a copy of vaccination records.

Late May through mid October is prime time for RV camping in Lamar, PA, with the absolute sweet spot being mid September to mid October when the Pennsylvania Wilds explode into red and gold foliage. Summer highs sit in the upper 70s to mid 80s, nights cool to the 50s and 60s (perfect for campfires), and spring brings wildflower hikes along the Mid State Trail. Winters get cold with lows in the teens and regular snow, but several hosts list four season rigs for snowmobiling and ice fishing on Bald Eagle Lake. Pro tip: book your fall foliage week by early August, since leaf peepers fill local campgrounds fast.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?
You're going to be great, and Lamar is one of the friendlier places to start. First time renting an RV here means quiet country roads, gentle terrain along Fishing Creek Valley, and an easy I 80 on ramp right in town. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering propane, water, slide outs, the generator, and dump procedure, so you're never left guessing. You can message your host anytime during the trip, and 24/7 roadside assistance is built in. Pro tip: book a smaller Class C motorhome rental in Lamar, PA or a campervan rental Lamar PA travelers love for your first trip, then graduate to a Class A on your next Pennsylvania Wilds adventure.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhat if something goes wrong with the RV on my trip?
You are not alone out there. Every RVezy booking with a protection plan includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so if you get a flat on I 80, a dead battery at Bald Eagle State Park, or run out of propane near Hyner View, one call gets help dispatched. Your host is also a quick message away for questions about quirky systems or hookups. For mechanical issues, RVezy customer support helps coordinate repairs or alternatives so your trip keeps moving. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number and your host's contact in your phone before you leave Lamar, since cell coverage thins out fast once you head into the Sproul State Forest backcountry.

Another favorite loops east through Ricketts Glen's 21 waterfalls (about 2 hours) and continues into the Poconos. History buffs roll south to Gettysburg in about 3 hours. Fuel is very manageable on a Pennsylvania trip. Expect 7 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG) for a Class A, 10 to 14 MPG for a Class C motorhome rental in Lamar, PA, 12 to 18 MPG towing a travel trailer, and 18 to 22 MPG for a campervan. Pennsylvania gas prices typically run a bit above the national average, often $3.30 to $3.80 per gallon, and the Flying J truck stop right at Lamar Exit 173 is a convenient fill up with RV friendly lanes. Pro tip: plan loop routes (Lamar to Wellsboro to Williamsport back to Lamar) rather than long out and backs, and you'll easily keep fuel under $25 a day in a Class C.

Reserve early and you'll have your pick. Pennsylvania state parks like Bald Eagle, Poe Paddy, and Hyner Run open reservations 11 months in advance through the official DCNR Reserve PA system, and prime summer and fall weekends fill within days. Private parks like Hidden Valley Campground typically take reservations 6 to 12 months out. For a flexible Lamar RV trip, aim to book your campsite first, then your RV. Pro tip: if Bald Eagle is full, check nearby R. B. Winter State Park, Reeds Gap State Park, or Little Pine State Park, all within an hour. Tuesday and Wednesday arrivals are easiest to snag last minute.

Winter brings snow and occasional ice from December through March, and summer can deliver afternoon thunderstorms. Pro tip: check PennDOT's 511PA road conditions tool before you head out, and avoid driving the back roads after dark in deer country, which is basically all of Clinton County.

The Lamar Flying J just off I 80 has an RV dump and freshwater fill if you need one between stops. Pro tip: ask your RVezy host to top off the freshwater tank before delivery, so you can hit a rustic site on day one without scrambling.
