5 stars in every way. Dana was very communicative and handled everything needed efficiently. The camper itself was just as expected and accommodated my young family for 9 days just right. Would recommend this rental to anyone.

I had an excellent experience renting from Eduardo. They walked me through every detail of the vehicle so I knew exactly how everything worked. The communication was great and made it easy if I had any questions. The RV was in excellent condition, had a lot of areas for sleeping, was modern, and clean. If I rent an RV again I will definitely rent this same one.

Kristen was a fantastic host. We arrived to everything set up and hooked up. The RV was clean and clean linens and towels were on the beds. The outdoor kitchen was perfect for breakfast and the outside fridge was used constantly. Communication was amazing. We had a flight cancelled and Kristen made it work so we didn't miss a thing.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Lakehills, TX
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Lakehills, TX?
RV rental in Lakehills, TX is one of the most affordable ways to explore the Texas Hill Country. Travel trailers typically run $80 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes range $150 to $250, and larger Class A coaches go $200 to $400. Because Lakehills sits in Bandera County rather than downtown San Antonio, you'll often find lower nightly rates than in the city while still being just 40 minutes from the Alamo. To score a cheap RV rental in Lakehills, book midweek (Sunday through Thursday), travel in February or early March before spring break, and message hosts about weekly discounts. Pro tip: bundling a longer stay with a midweek booking can knock 15 to 20 percent off your total.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lakehills,TexasDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Lakehills?
Good news, your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Lakehills for virtually every rig on RVezy. Texas only requires a non-commercial Class B license for personal RVs over 26,000 pounds, which is heavier than the Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels most guests book here. You'll need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID right in the app, so there's no paperwork at pickup. Visiting from abroad? Pair your home-country license with an International Driving Permit and you're set to cruise the Hill Country.

Every RV rental in Lakehills, TX booked through RVezy comes with a protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built right in, so you can hit FM 1283 or head out to Medina Lake with confidence. The protection plan covers most physical damage to the vehicle, giving you real peace of mind, especially if it's your first time renting an RV. During checkout you'll choose your preferred coverage level, since RVezy offers multiple protection tiers so you can pick what fits your trip. It's designed specifically for peer-to-peer RV rentals and removes the biggest worry most renters have before booking.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Lakehills RV trip?
Booking your Lakehills RV trip is genuinely low-risk because RVezy, not the host, sets the cancellation policy across the platform. There's a money-back grace period right after you book, and additional refund windows apply based on how far out from your trip you cancel. You'll see the full cancellation details during checkout before you confirm payment. Pro tip: if a hurricane is brewing in the Gulf or Bandera County issues a flood watch, reach out to RVezy support early so they can help you sort out your options quickly.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Lakehills RV rental?
Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental in Lakehills is easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when you search and you'll see only the listings whose hosts welcome dogs (and sometimes cats). Lakehills itself is dog heaven: Thousand Trails Medina Lake allows leashed pets throughout the campground, Hill Country State Natural Area welcomes dogs on a 6-foot leash on most trails, and Bandera City Park has shady oak-lined paths along the Medina River. Message your host before booking to confirm any pet fee and breed details. Pro tip: bring extra water bowls, Hill Country summers regularly hit 95 degrees and your pup will thank you.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/hill-country-state-natural-areaCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Lakehills?
Yes, RV delivery in Lakehills is one of the most popular ways to start a trip here, especially for first-timers. Many hosts on RVezy will drive the RV right to Medina Lake RV Resort, Thousand Trails Medina Lake, or even a private property, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Just use the Delivery filter when searching and check each host's delivery radius and fee. Pro tip: delivery is a game-changer if you're flying into San Antonio International Airport, since you can rideshare to your campsite and skip driving a big rig entirely.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lakehills,TexasHow far can I drive on a Lakehills RV trip, and is unlimited mileage available?
You've got plenty of road to explore from Lakehills, and yes, some hosts on RVezy offer RV rentals with unlimited mileage while others include a generous daily allotment (commonly 100 to 150 miles per day) with a small per-mile fee beyond that. Each listing shows the mileage policy upfront so there are no surprises. From Lakehills you're about 40 miles to downtown San Antonio, 15 miles to Bandera, 70 miles to Fredericksburg wine country, 90 miles to Austin, and 100 miles to Garner State Park on the Frio River. Pro tip: if you're planning a longer Hill Country loop, filter for unlimited-mileage listings and message the host to confirm.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lakehills,TexasWhere are the best campgrounds near Lakehills for an RV stay?
Lakehills is surrounded by some of the best campgrounds in the Texas Hill Country. Thousand Trails Medina Lake has hundreds of sites, a pool, and a famously tame whitetail deer population that wanders right through camp. Medina Lake RV Resort is a gated resort with big-rig-friendly sites, pickleball, and a hot tub. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park in nearby Bandera sits on the Medina River with full hookups about 15 minutes away. For a rustic adventure, Hill Country State Natural Area offers more than 5,000 acres of primitive sites just down RR 1077. Pro tip: book Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends 3 to 4 months ahead, they fill fast.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/hill-country-state-natural-areaWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Lakehills?
The best windows for a Lakehills RV trip are mid-March through May and late September through November, when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s and 80s and the Hill Country puts on a wildflower or fall-color show. Winter is genuinely mild here too: January averages a high around 60 with overnight lows near 38, so RV camping in Lakehills is a year-round option. Summer (June to August) regularly tops 95 degrees, so plan for early-morning hikes and AC-heavy afternoons. Pro tip: visit in late March or early April to catch bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush blanketing the roadsides on Highway 16 between Bandera and Medina.
weather.gov/ewx/I've never rented an RV before, will I be okay?
First time renting an RV? You're in great hands in Lakehills. Every RVezy host gives a hands-on orientation at pickup or delivery, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water systems, propane, and dump procedures, so you're never left guessing. Many guests start with a Class C motorhome or smaller travel trailer because they drive much like a large pickup and are easy to maneuver on rural roads like PR 37 and FM 1283. You can also message your host through the RVezy app any time during your trip with quick questions. Pro tip: ask your host to record a short walkthrough video on your phone, you'll thank yourself on night two when you're hooking up at Thousand Trails Medina Lake.
rvezy.com/rvezy-differenceWhat if something goes wrong with the RV on my trip?
You're covered. Every Lakehills RV rental on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on Highway 16 or a dead battery at Hill Country State Natural Area is a quick phone call away from help. For non-emergency issues, message your host directly through the app, they know their rig best and can often troubleshoot in minutes. RVezy's customer support team is also available before, during, and after your trip if you need backup. Pro tip: cell service gets thin past Bandera and around Medina Lake, so screenshot your host's contact info and the roadside number before you leave Lakehills proper.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Lakehills RV rental on a road trip across Texas or into another state?
Yes, an RV road trip from Lakehills is wide open, and Texas is built for it. Many hosts on RVezy allow cross-state travel, so you can run the Hill Country loop to Fredericksburg and Enchanted Rock, head west to Big Bend National Park (about 400 miles), or south to Port Aransas beaches (around 200 miles). Just confirm out-of-state travel with your host through the listing before booking. Important: travel into Mexico is not allowed on any RVezy rental because insurance does not extend across the border. Pro tip: the most popular route from Lakehills is the Hill Country wine trail through Fredericksburg, Stonewall, and Johnson City, easily doable as a long weekend.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Lakehills RV trip?
Fuel is one of the easier parts of budgeting for an RV trip in Lakehills, since Texas gas prices typically run below the national average. Plan on roughly 8 to 10 MPG for a Class C motorhome, 6 to 8 MPG for a Class A, and 12 to 18 MPG for a campervan or smaller truck-towed travel trailer. A weekend round trip to Fredericksburg and back (about 140 miles) usually runs $40 to $70 in fuel. Fill up in Lakehills or in Bandera before heading deeper into the Hill Country, as stations thin out on RR 1077. Pro tip: use a fuel-price app like GasBuddy to spot the cheapest diesel along your route.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Lakehills?
For peak Texas Hill Country dates, book your Lakehills campground 3 to 5 months ahead. Texas State Parks like Hill Country State Natural Area and Garner take reservations up to 5 months in advance through the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system, and they fill quickly for spring weekends and fall foliage. Private parks like Medina Lake RV Resort and Thousand Trails Medina Lake book up 2 to 3 months out for holidays (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day). Off-peak weekdays in January and February are often bookable a week out. Pro tip: if your dates are tight, search Lakehills RV rentals with the Delivery filter, since your host can park you at a private spot and skip the campground scramble.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/park-information/reservationsWhat are the local driving conditions like around Lakehills?
Driving in Lakehills is refreshingly relaxed compared to big-city RV travel. Park Road 37 and FM 1283 are the main routes, both two-lane Hill Country roads with rolling terrain, light traffic, and gorgeous limestone views. The biggest things to watch are narrow shoulders, white-tailed deer at dawn and dusk (especially around Medina Lake), and the occasional low-water crossing that can flood after Hill Country thunderstorms. Avoid the steep, tight road into the wrong Medina Lake RV park, use 215 Spettle Road for Thousand Trails. Pro tip: keep an eye on TxDOT's DriveTexas site after heavy rain in May or October when flash flooding is most likely, and never cross a flooded low-water crossing.
drivetexas.org/What amenities should I expect at Lakehills-area campgrounds?
Campgrounds around Lakehills are well-equipped for an easy RV stay. Medina Lake RV Resort and Thousand Trails Medina Lake both offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, dump stations, and propane fill-ups on-site, so you rarely need to leave for supplies. Both have pools, and Thousand Trails offers additional family amenities. For potable water and dumping if you're staying off-grid, Medina Lake RV Resort and the Bandera area gas stations are your closest reliable stops. Pro tip: Hill Country State Natural Area has primitive facilities and no showers, so it's best paired with a self-contained RV that has full freshwater and gray tanks.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/hill-country-state-natural-area/park_info/facilitiesWhat's actually inside the RVs available for rent in Lakehills?
Motorhome rental in Lakehills gets you a fully outfitted home on wheels. Most listings include a queen or king bed, full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, dining area, air conditioning (essential for Texas summers), heating, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include a TV, Wi-Fi hotspot or signal booster, outdoor speakers, and a generator for boondocking at Hill Country State Natural Area. Campervan rental Lakehills options are more compact but still pack a bed, kitchenette, and often a wet bath. Each listing's photos and amenity list show exactly what's onboard. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count and look for listings with a dedicated outdoor shower, perfect for rinsing off Medina Lake dust.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lakehills,TexasWhat add-ons and pickup options are available for a Lakehills RV rental?

Pickup is usually at the host's home in Lakehills or nearby Bandera, and many hosts offer delivery to Medina Lake campgrounds or directly to your driveway in San Antonio. Mileage policies vary by listing, with daily caps around 100 to 150 miles or unlimited mileage options available. Pro tip: bundle a delivery and setup add-on with a linen kit and you can literally show up at Thousand Trails Medina Lake with just a suitcase and groceries.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lakehills,TexasHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment for your Lakehills RV rental is handled securely right through RVezy, so you never hand cash or card details to the host. You'll pay according to RVezy's secure checkout schedule, which protects both sides. A refundable security deposit is held by RVezy (not the host) during your trip and released back to you shortly after return, assuming there's no damage or extra cleaning needed. To avoid issues, take date-stamped photos of the RV inside and out at pickup and dropoff, and note the fuel and propane levels. Pro tip: keep your dump receipts and gas station receipts in your trip folder, they're great proof if any questions come up.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksHow do I handle the Texas summer heat in an RV around Lakehills?
Summer in Lakehills is hot but absolutely manageable in an RV with a few smart moves. July and August routinely hit 95 to 100 degrees, so book a listing with dual roof AC units, park in shade (Medina Lake RV Resort is famous for its huge oak canopy), and run the generator or shore power to keep the AC humming through the afternoon. Drive in the cooler morning hours, hydrate constantly, and save active stuff like swimming at the Medina River or hiking Hill Country State Natural Area for before 10 a.m. or after 5 p.m. Pro tip: shoulder seasons in April and October are the smart-money move, same beautiful scenery, half the heat, and often lower nightly rates on Lakehills RV rentals.
