5 stars in every way. Dana was very communicative and handled everything needed efficiently. The camper itself was just as expected and accommodated my young family for 9 days just right. Would recommend this rental to anyone.

I had an excellent experience renting from Eduardo. They walked me through every detail of the vehicle so I knew exactly how everything worked. The communication was great and made it easy if I had any questions. The RV was in excellent condition, had a lot of areas for sleeping, was modern, and clean. If I rent an RV again I will definitely rent this same one.

Kristen was a fantastic host. We arrived to everything set up and hooked up. The RV was clean and clean linens and towels were on the beds. The outdoor kitchen was perfect for breakfast and the outside fridge was used constantly. Communication was amazing. We had a flight cancelled and Kristen made it work so we didn't miss a thing.

For virtually every RV you'll book on RVezy in Von Ormy, your regular driver's license is all you need. The Texas Department of Public Safety only requires a non-commercial Class A or B license if the RV (or RV plus trailer combo) has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 26,000 pounds, which excludes nearly all travel trailers, campervans, and Class C motorhomes on the platform. Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set to rent an RV in Von Ormy with confidence.

tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/garnerWhere are the best campgrounds near Von Ormy for my RV?
You're spoiled for choice. Top picks for RV camping Von Ormy include Alamo River RV Resort right in town along the Medina River with full hookups, hiking trails, and a dog park; San Antonio KOA Holiday on the east side with a pool and shuttle access to downtown attractions; Braunig Lake RV Resort about 20 minutes east for fishing and lakeside sites; Travelers World RV Resort just minutes from the River Walk; and Hidden Valley RV Park, an adults-only spot south of the city. For a Hill Country escape, Blanco State Park is about an hour north with riverside sites. Pro tip: weekends fill fast in spring, so reserve 2 to 4 weeks ahead.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/blancoWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Von Ormy?
Spring and fall are the sweet spot. From mid-October through late April, Von Ormy enjoys daytime highs in the 65 to 85°F range and crisp, dry evenings, ideal for RV camping in Von Ormy without battling the heat. March and April bring wildflowers (bluebonnets!) along Hill Country highways, while late October through early December delivers low humidity and beautiful sunsets. Summer (June through August) regularly tops 95 to 100°F with heat index values that can exceed 110°F, so plan early morning drives and book RVs with strong air conditioning. Winters are mild and crowds thin out, which makes January through February a smart-money window for cheaper rates.
weather.gov/ewx/I've never rented an RV before. How does the pickup process work?
First time renting an RV? You're in great company, and Von Ormy hosts are known for thorough, no-rush orientations. At pickup (or delivery), your host walks you through every system: leveling, slide-outs, propane, water, the generator, awnings, and dump procedures. You can record the walkthrough on your phone and message your host anytime during the trip with quick questions. Many hosts also send a pre-trip checklist a few days before your start date. Pro tip: practice a few turns and reverses in a wide-open lot, like the Toyota Field area or a Park and Ride near Loop 1604, before heading out to the Hill Country.
txdmv.gov/motoristsWhat happens if something goes wrong on the road?
You are never stranded. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. If you have a problem on I-35, US-90, or out near Garner State Park, one phone call gets help dispatched. Your host is also just a message away for quick troubleshooting, and RVezy support is reachable before, during, and after your trip. Save the roadside number in your phone before leaving Von Ormy, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate just in case.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Von Ormy RV rental across state lines or into Mexico?
Cross-state road trips are absolutely on the table. An RV road trip from Von Ormy can take you to Big Bend National Park (about 6.5 hours west), New Orleans (about 8 hours east), Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico (about 8 hours northwest), or up through Oklahoma. Just message the host before booking to confirm your route. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection coverage do not extend across the border, so plan your itinerary to stay within the United States. Popular nearby route: Von Ormy to Fredericksburg to Enchanted Rock makes a stunning 2-night loop.
nps.gov/bibe/index.htmWhat should I budget for fuel on a motorhome rental Von Ormy trip?
Fuel is one of your biggest controllables, and Texas helps you out with some of the lowest gas prices in the country. Expect a campervan rental Von Ormy to get 18 to 22 MPG, a Class C motorhome to get 8 to 12 MPG, and a Class A to get 6 to 10 MPG. With San Antonio area gas averaging well below the national price, a 300-mile loop through the Hill Country in a Class C typically costs $80 to $120 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Von Ormy or south San Antonio (often the cheapest in the metro) before heading west into the Hill Country, where prices climb in smaller towns like Leakey and Vanderpool.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds for my Von Ormy RV trip?
Book early and you'll have your pick. Texas State Parks like Garner, Pedernales Falls, and Blanco accept reservations up to 5 months in advance through the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system, and the most popular weekends (spring break, Memorial Day, summer Saturdays at Garner) fill the moment that window opens. Private parks around Von Ormy, like Alamo River RV Resort and San Antonio KOA, typically need 2 to 4 weeks notice in peak season and just a few days off-season. Pro tip: weekday arrivals at Texas State Parks are far easier to snag, and you'll often score riverfront sites that book solid on weekends.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/park-reservation-information/reservationsWhat's it like driving an RV around Von Ormy and San Antonio?
You'll find driving here surprisingly manageable. Von Ormy sits right off I-35 about 15 miles south of downtown San Antonio, so you avoid most urban congestion while still being close to everything. Stick to outer loops like Loop 1604 and avoid downtown San Antonio's low-clearance areas, especially around the River Walk and the historic King William District (some bridges are under 12 feet). Hill Country roads west of town (US-90 to Hondo, RR 337 near Leakey) are scenic but winding, so take them at a relaxed pace. Pro tip: summer thunderstorms can bring brief, intense downpours, so pull off at a rest area until they pass.
txdot.gov/safety/driving-laws.htmlWhat amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Von Ormy?
Most parks near Von Ormy come well-equipped. Private campgrounds like Alamo River RV Resort, San Antonio KOA, and Braunig Lake RV Resort offer full hookups (30/50 amp electric, water, sewer at the site), Wi-Fi, laundry, hot showers, and dump stations. Texas State Parks like Pedernales Falls and Garner typically offer water and electric hookups (no sewer at the site) plus shared dump stations, potable water fill-ups, and clean restrooms with showers. For free water fills or dump stations en route, the Flying J on I-35 just north of Von Ormy is a reliable stop. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot sewer hose since some Hill Country sites have rear-of-pad connections.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/pedernales-falls/fees-facilities/campsitesWhat's included inside the RV I rent in Von Ormy?
Expect a real home on wheels. Most RVs on RVezy come with sleeping for 4 to 8 (queen master, convertible dinette, bunks), a full kitchen with fridge, stovetop, microwave, sink, and basic cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control with air conditioning (a must in South Texas summers), and seatbelts for safe travel. Many also include a flat-screen TV, Bluetooth stereo, generator or solar setup, and outdoor awning. Wi-Fi varies, so plan to use your phone hotspot in remote Hill Country areas. Pro tip: confirm linens, towels, and kitchen kits in the listing details, since some hosts include them and others offer them as add-ons.
rvia.org/What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
You can truly customize your Von Ormy RV rental. Popular add-ons hosts offer include linen and kitchen kits ($25 to $75), portable generators ($25 to $50/day), bike racks, outdoor grills, camping chairs, and pet-cleaning fees ($25 to $100). Pickup is usually at the host's location in or near Von Ormy, with delivery available to popular spots like Alamo River RV Resort or San Antonio KOA for a flat fee based on distance. Mileage policies vary, so check whether your booking includes 100 miles per night, unlimited, or another package. Pro tip: bundle a delivery plus setup add-on if you're new to RVing and want a stress-free start.
visitsanantonio.com/things-to-do/outdoors/How does payment and the security deposit work when I rent an RV in Von Ormy?
Payment through RVezy is simple and secure, with no cash or off-platform transfers. You pay the rental cost and any add-ons by credit card on the platform when you book, and a refundable security deposit hold is placed on your card before pickup. Deposits vary by RV type and value and are released after the trip once the host confirms the RV was returned in good condition. To avoid deposit issues, do the walkthrough together at pickup and dropoff, take photos of the interior and exterior, and follow the host's instructions for cleaning, fuel, and dumping tanks.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksHow do I handle the South Texas heat during summer in my RV?
Stay cool and you'll love every minute. Summer in Von Ormy regularly hits 95 to 100°F with August averaging a high of 97°F and heat indexes climbing past 110°F, so pick an RV with a strong (and ideally dual) air conditioning unit, and confirm with your host that the generator or shore power can run the AC reliably. Drive in the cooler morning hours, park in shade when possible, and keep window covers or reflective shades handy. Hydrate constantly, especially if you're hitting trails at Government Canyon or tubing the Frio at Garner State Park. Pro tip: shoulder seasons (March to May and October to November) are the smart-money move with milder temps and lower rental rates.
