We had such an amazing experience with this RV! The entire drop-off process was super smooth and easy, and the gentleman who delivered and set everything up was absolutely great! He was friendly, helpful, and made the whole process stress-free. The RV itself was perfect for our group and came stocked with so many useful amenities that made our stay even better. We had an incredible weekend and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Would definitely recommend and rent again!

The experience with Scott and his RV was the best experience we’ve had renting so far. Scott was extremely accommodating in our pick up and drop off time which was very appreciated. The RV itself was in great condition and everything was extremely smooth and worked great. Our group had no issues with any functions or amenities within the RV the entire trip, and the RV was very nice. I’d highly recommend Scott to anyone in the future!

2018 Thor Motor Coach Class C
Overall good time. Gray and black water were 2/3 full though and would have been nice to be empty. WiFi was ok in location but sometimes didn’t work. Maybe suspension does need a look over not horrible but slightly loose. Fresh water all the way full would be nice also. I tried to leave it cleaner than I got it as well for the delay on drop off but made sure to get here early this am.

We had the best family trip with Krystal’s RV, “Coach”! It was clean, comfortable, easy to drive and easy to communicate with the host if/when needed. Anything we could have possibly needed for the camping trip was already in the RV. She wrote out detailed instructions from start to finish on how to handle Coach the best way. Even a non experienced camper would feel comfortable doing it on their own. Thanks for thinking of everything and letting us use Coach for a great trip! :)

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Stuarts Draft, VA
How much does an RV rental in Stuarts Draft, VA typically cost?
Renting an RV in Stuarts Draft is one of the most affordable ways to explore the Shenandoah Valley. On RVezy, travel trailers near Stuarts Draft typically average around $125 per night, while drivable motorhome rentals average closer to $200 per night, and many hosts offer 10 to 20% off for weekly or monthly bookings. For a cheap RV rental in Stuarts Draft, look at smaller travel trailers or older Class C motorhomes, and target shoulder months like April or October when nightly rates dip. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book and message a couple of hosts about midweek discounts, especially when avoiding the Labor Day and leaf-peeping rush along Skyline Drive.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Stuarts%20Draft%2C%20VirginiaWhat kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Stuarts Draft?
Good news, your everyday driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Stuarts Draft. Virginia allows you to drive a personal-use motorhome with a standard Class D license as long as the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) stays under 26,000 pounds, which covers virtually every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, and travel trailer on RVezy. You will need to be at least 25 years old to be an approved driver, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform when you reserve. International visitors can drive too, just bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto association.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs the rental protected if something happens during my trip?
Yes, every booking through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so your Shenandoah Valley adventure starts with real peace of mind. During checkout you choose the protection level that fits your trip, and the plan covers eligible accidental damage to the RV so a small mishap on Skyline Drive doesn't turn into a big bill. Coverage levels and deductibles vary by plan, and full details are available on RVezy's insurance and protection page. Hosts do not choose your coverage level, you do, which keeps the decision firmly in your hands before you even pick up the keys.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat happens if I need to cancel my Stuarts Draft RV rental?
Booking is low risk. RVezy offers a standardized cancellation policy with a grace period right after booking, so you have time to lock in plans without pressure. Depending on how far out you are from your trip start date, additional refund tiers may apply, which matters in the Blue Ridge Mountains where the occasional summer thunderstorm or winter ice storm rolls through Augusta County. Cancellation terms are set by RVezy, not the host, so the process is consistent across every listing. If anything changes, just reach out to RVezy support and they'll walk you through your options.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Stuarts Draft?
Absolutely, Stuarts Draft is wonderfully dog-friendly and many RVezy hosts welcome four-legged co-pilots. To find a pet-friendly RV rental in Stuarts Draft, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when you search and message the host about any size or breed notes. Once you're on the road, your pup will love Sherando Lake Recreation Area in the George Washington National Forest, where leashed dogs can hike the lake loop, plus most trails in Shenandoah National Park welcome leashed pets, more than 480 miles of them in fact. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl, summer humidity in the Shenandoah Valley can climb fast.
nps.gov/shen/planyourvisit/pets.htmCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Stuarts Draft?
Yes, RV delivery in Stuarts Draft is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. Many local hosts will drive the RV to your campground, set up the slides, level the rig, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Popular drop-off spots include Walnut Hills Campground and RV Park just up Route 11 near Staunton, Sun Retreats Shenandoah Valley right in Stuarts Draft on Lake Road, and Waynesboro North 340 Campground a short hop up US-340. Filter listings by Delivery, then message the host with your campsite number and arrival time to lock it in.

virginiadot.org/travel/citizen-traveler.aspWhere are the best campgrounds to stay near Stuarts Draft?
You're spoiled for choice on the best campgrounds near Stuarts Draft. Sun Retreats Shenandoah Valley on Lake Road is just minutes from town and has a swimming lake and full hookups. Walnut Hills Campground & RV Park near Staunton (about 12 miles north) is a year-round Good Sam park with easy I-64 access. Sherando Lake Recreation Area in the George Washington National Forest sits roughly 15 miles south near Lyndhurst and is a local favorite for swimming and hiking. Inside Shenandoah National Park, Loft Mountain and Big Meadows Campgrounds offer dump stations and potable water, no hookups, but unbeatable Blue Ridge views. Book national park sites on Recreation.gov.
recreation.gov/gateways/2933When is the best time to visit Stuarts Draft in an RV?
The sweet spot for RV camping in Stuarts Draft runs from late April through late October, with two showstopper seasons. Spring (April–May) brings highs in the 60s–70s°F and wildflowers across the Blue Ridge. Summer (June–August) is warm and humid with highs around 80–84°F, great for swimming at Sherando Lake. The real magic happens in October, when fall foliage along Skyline Drive turns the entire Shenandoah Valley gold and crimson. Winter is genuinely cold here, with January lows averaging around 24°F and occasional snow, so if you book December–February choose an RV with a furnace and ask the host about heated tanks.
weather.gov/lwx/I've never driven an RV before, will I be okay around Stuarts Draft?
You'll do great, and first time renting an RV in Stuarts Draft is honestly one of the easier places to learn. Roads in Augusta County are wide, traffic is light, and your host gives you a full orientation at pickup that covers driving, leveling, hookups, slide-outs, and the propane and water systems. You can also message the host any time during your trip with questions. For an easy confidence-building first day, head to Sherando Lake or Walnut Hills, both under 20 miles away on mostly flat, straight roads. Save Skyline Drive's curves for day two once you're feeling comfortable behind the wheel.
virginiadot.org/travel/citizen-traveler.aspWhat if I have a breakdown or flat tire during my trip?
You're never on your own, every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan. One phone call gets help dispatched for flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, or towing, whether you're parked at Big Meadows Campground on Skyline Drive or pulled over on I-81 near Staunton. RVezy's customer support team is also available before, during, and after your trip, and your host is just a message away for quick how-to questions like resetting a tripped GFCI or relighting the water heater. Save both numbers in your phone before you pull out of the driveway.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the most popular road trips from Stuarts Draft?
An RV road trip from Stuarts Draft can be as short as a weekend or as ambitious as a two-week adventure. Quick favorites include Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park (about 20 minutes to Rockfish Gap, then 105 miles of overlooks), the Blue Ridge Parkway south toward Peaks of Otter (about 75 miles), Charlottesville and Monticello (40 miles east), and Natural Bridge plus the Virginia Safari Park (about 45 miles south). For a longer loop, head to the Outer Banks, NC (about 350 miles southeast) or Washington, DC (about 160 miles northeast). Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed with host approval, but travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals.
nps.gov/blri/index.htmHow much should I budget for fuel on my Stuarts Draft RV trip?
Fuel is usually the second-biggest line item after the rental itself, so a quick budget check helps. Class B campervans near Stuarts Draft typically get 18–22 MPG, Class C motorhomes return 8–12 MPG, and larger Class A rigs land around 6–10 MPG. With Virginia gas prices typically running near the national average, a 200-mile loop through the Shenandoah Valley in a Class C will run roughly $60–$90 in fuel. Fill up in Stuarts Draft or Waynesboro before heading up to Skyline Drive, prices inside Shenandoah National Park waysides are noticeably higher. Pro tip: drive 55–60 mph on I-81 to squeeze the best mileage out of any rig.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Stuarts Draft?
For peak weekends, book early. Summer Saturdays and October leaf-peeping weekends at Shenandoah National Park fill up months out. Big Meadows, Loft Mountain, and Mathews Arm Campgrounds open reservations on Recreation.gov up to six months in advance, and the prime fall foliage slots are typically gone within hours of release. Virginia State Parks like Douthat (about an hour west) and James River (about 50 miles south) use the Virginia State Parks reservation system at virginiastateparks.gov and also book up quickly. For private parks like Walnut Hills or Sun Retreats Shenandoah Valley, two to four weeks ahead is usually enough outside of major holidays.
recreation.gov/gateways/2933What are local driving conditions like around Stuarts Draft?
Driving an RV around Stuarts Draft is refreshingly relaxed compared to most of the East Coast. US-340, US-250, and I-64 are wide, well-maintained, and rarely jammed. The one thing to plan for is mountain driving, Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park has a 35 mph speed limit, tight switchbacks, and a 12-foot-8-inch tunnel at Mary's Rock, so RVs over 12'8" must use the Front Royal or Rockfish Gap entrances and avoid the Thornton Gap tunnel. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk in Augusta County, and check forecasts in winter, the Blue Ridge can get freezing rain even when the valley stays clear.
virginiadot.org/travel/citizen-traveler.aspWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Stuarts Draft?
You'll find a great mix. Private parks like Walnut Hills Campground & RV Park, Sun Retreats Shenandoah Valley, and Waynesboro North 340 Campground typically offer full hookups (water, electric 30/50-amp, sewer), Wi-Fi, dump stations, hot showers, laundry, and pools. National park campgrounds inside Shenandoah, including Big Meadows and Loft Mountain, have no hookups but provide potable water fill stations, dump stations, flush toilets, and quiet generator hours (8–10 a.m. and 4–7 p.m.). Sherando Lake Recreation Area in the George Washington National Forest has electric sites, a swim beach, and a dump station. If you need a mid-trip dump, Walnut Hills and Sherando both accept paid dumps from non-guests.
fs.usda.gov/recarea/gwj/recarea/?recid=73892What features come with a typical RV rental in Stuarts Draft?
Most RVs on RVezy come fully equipped and trip-ready. Expect a queen or king bed plus convertible dinettes and bunks, a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave and cookware, a bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control, and seatbelted seating that matches the listed sleep count. Many Stuarts Draft listings also include a generator for boondocking, outdoor speakers, TVs, awnings, and increasingly LTE Wi-Fi boosters, handy because cell coverage drops fast on Skyline Drive. Class B campervan rentals in Stuarts Draft are smaller and easier to drive, while motorhome rentals in Stuarts Draft offer more space for family RV trips in Stuarts Draft. Check each listing's amenity list before booking.
virginia.org/things-to-do/outdoors/camping/What add-ons can I get with my RV rental, and how do pickup and mileage work?
Hosts in Stuarts Draft offer all kinds of helpful add-ons to make your trip smoother. Common extras include bedding and linen packages ($25–$75), camp chairs and outdoor tables, generators, propane refills, bike racks, kayak racks, and the popular delivery and setup option for first-timers. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Stuarts Draft, Waynesboro, or Staunton, with a hands-on orientation that runs 30–60 minutes. Mileage policies vary by host, many include 100–150 free miles per day with paid overage, and some offer unlimited-mileage packages for longer trips. Read the listing's mileage and add-on sections carefully, then confirm pickup time directly with your host.
virginia.org/things-to-do/outdoors/camping/How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay through RVezy's platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which keeps everything documented and protected. Most hosts in Stuarts Draft require a refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV's value) that is held separately from your booking payment before pickup and released after return assuming the RV comes back clean, fueled, and undamaged. To avoid any deposit issues, take date-stamped photos at pickup and drop-off, return the rig with the same fuel and propane levels, and dump and rinse the tanks if your agreement requires it.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I take my Stuarts Draft RV rental into Canada or other states?
Interstate travel is generally welcome on RVezy rentals from Stuarts Draft, and many guests run loops through West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Tennessee without issue. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and their insurance, so message the listing before booking if a Canadian leg is in your plans. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because coverage does not extend there. The good news: from Stuarts Draft you have world-class scenery within a half-day's drive, including the Great Smoky Mountains (about 350 miles southwest) and plenty of New England destinations a bit farther north.
