Levi made it real easy to rent his trailer, as well as do the walk through at a separate time. This was my first time with an RV with a black tank, so I sprung for his "Trailer 101" extra. It was well worth it, as it made me confident of a "no mishap" first cleaning. The unit towed nicely, and was great for the rain. The insulation in the roof muffled the rain nicely. And the heater did a great job keeping the inside comfortable. Easy pick up and drop off location.

Is my Clearlake Oaks RV rental protected if something goes wrong?

Every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can rent an RV in Clearlake Oaks with real peace of mind. What if I need to cancel my Clearlake Oaks RV trip?

Booking is low-risk because RVezy sets a standard cancellation policy for every reservation, with a money-back grace period right after booking so you can lock in dates without stress. Where are the best campgrounds near Clearlake Oaks?

You are spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping near Clearlake Oaks. Top picks include Clear Lake State Park near Kelseyville (four campgrounds with lakeside access and a max RV length of 35 feet), private RV parks along the north shore in Clearlake Oaks, Nice, and Lucerne with full hookups, and waterfront options around Lower Lake. Most parks offer easy access to fishing, boating, and swimming on Clear Lake's 68 square miles of water. When is the best time to visit Clearlake Oaks in an RV?

Late April through mid-June and all of September into mid-October are the sweet spots for a Clearlake Oaks RV trip. Spring brings wildflowers, mild 65 to 80 degree days, and full creeks, while early fall delivers warm lake swims, harvest season at nearby wineries, and fewer crowds. July and August are hot (highs often 90 to 95 degrees, occasionally over 100), which is great for boating but tough on midday driving. Winters are mild but rainy, with lows in the high 30s. Pro tip: target the first two weeks of October for warm water, golden hillsides, and the best campground availability at Clear Lake State Park.

I've never driven an RV. Is renting in Clearlake Oaks beginner-friendly?

You're in a great spot for first time renting an RV. Clearlake Oaks sits along Highway 20 with wide shoulders, low traffic compared to coastal routes, and short hops between campgrounds, making it a forgiving place to learn. Every RVezy host gives you a full orientation at pickup, covering propane, water, slide-outs, holding tanks, and how to back into a site. Many hosts in Lake County also offer delivery and setup, so you can skip the drive entirely on day one. Pro tip: if you're nervous about height clearance, ask your host to point out the Highway 175 turnoff near Hopland on a map, since it has tighter mountain curves than the Highway 20 lakeshore route.

What happens if my RV breaks down near Clear Lake?

You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on Highway 20, a dead battery at Glenhaven, or a propane question outside Lucerne is just a phone call away. The roadside team can arrange a tow, tire change, jumpstart, or lockout service, and your host is also reachable through the RVezy app for questions about the rig's quirks. The nearest larger service centers are in Ukiah (about 35 miles west) and Lakeport (about 20 miles around the lake). Pro tip: snap photos of all gauges and slide-outs at pickup so any issue can be diagnosed quickly by phone.

An RV road trip from Clearlake Oaks puts some of California's best landscapes within easy reach. Napa Valley wine country is about 65 miles south through Calistoga (1h 30m), the Mendocino coast and Russian Gulch State Park are roughly 90 miles west via Highway 20 (about 2h), Redwood National and State Parks are around 220 miles north, Lassen Volcanic National Park is about 175 miles northeast, and Lake Tahoe is roughly 200 miles east through Sacramento. What should I budget for fuel on a Clearlake Oaks RV trip?

Fuel is the biggest variable, but it is easy to plan for. Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class B campervans average 14 to 18 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. California gas prices typically run well above the national average, so check current EIA prices before your trip and budget accordingly for regular or diesel. Fill up in Clearlake or Lakeport, where prices tend to beat the smaller Highway 20 stations in Nice and Lucerne. Pro tip: a 200 mile round trip to Mendocino in a Class C can run roughly $90 to $130 in fuel at current California prices, so factor it into your daily plan.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Clearlake Oaks?

Plan ahead and you will lock in the best sites. Clear Lake State Park releases reservations on ReserveCalifornia up to six months in advance, and lakeside Kelsey Creek sites for summer weekends typically sell out within hours of opening. For private parks around Clearlake Oaks, Nice, and Lucerne, two to three months ahead is usually enough outside of July 4th weekend and the annual Clear Lake bass tournaments. Shoulder season trips in April or October often need only one to two weeks lead time. Pro tip: set a six-month-out calendar reminder for ReserveCalifornia if you are aiming for the prized lakeside spots at Kelsey Creek.

What are driving conditions like around Clearlake Oaks?

Driving around Clear Lake is mostly easy, scenic, and low-stress compared to coastal California. Highway 20 hugs the north shore with gentle curves and lake views, while Highway 29 connects you south toward Calistoga with a few steeper grades over Mount Saint Helena. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk, summer afternoon winds across the lake bridges, and occasional smoke or road closures during fire season (typically June through October). Cell service can drop between Nice and Upper Lake. Pro tip: check Caltrans QuickMap before you roll, especially on Highway 175 over Cobb Mountain, which is the most twisty route in the area and not ideal for larger Class A motorhomes.

What amenities will I find at Clearlake Oaks campgrounds?

Lake County campgrounds offer a nice mix of hookup levels, so you can match the campground to your rig. Private RV parks around Clearlake Oaks and the north shore typically provide full hookups (30-amp electric, water, sewer) with many offering waterfront sites. Clear Lake State Park has flush toilets, pay showers, and a dump station but no electric or water hookups at individual sites. Most parks have a potable water fill near the entrance. Pro tip: top off freshwater and dump tanks at Clear Lake State Park's dump station before heading out for a longer loop to Mendocino or Lassen, since dump stations along Highway 20 are limited.

What features come with a typical Clearlake Oaks RV rental?

Motorhome rental Clearlake Oaks listings come well equipped. Most Class C and Class A rigs sleep 4 to 8 with a queen bed, convertible dinette, and bunk options, plus a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), bathroom with shower and toilet, roof AC, propane furnace, and seatbelted seating for driving. Campervan rental Clearlake Oaks options (Class B) are nimbler, sleep 2 to 4, and often include solar and an indoor/outdoor shower. Many rigs include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, and outdoor speakers, with Wi-Fi hotspots offered as add-ons. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count and message hosts about generators if you plan to boondock along Cache Creek where shore power is not available.

What add-ons and pickup logistics should I expect?

Hosts in Clearlake Oaks make it easy to customize your trip. Popular add-ons include kayaks or SUPs (great for Clear Lake's 68 square miles of water), bedding and kitchen packages, portable BBQs, generators, bike racks, and pet packages. Pickup is usually at the host's location in Clearlake Oaks, Lakeport, or Kelseyville, with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough included. Many hosts offer delivery within 15 to 30 miles for a per-mile fee. Mileage policies vary, so review the listing carefully. Pro tip: ask for the host's recommended Clear Lake fishing spots when you pick up. Lake County hosts often know exactly where the bass are biting on Rodman Slough or off Lakeside County Park.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is simple and secure through the RVezy platform, so you never hand cash to your host. You will pay the rental total, protection plan, and any add-ons by card at booking, and a separate refundable security deposit hold is placed on your card before the trip begins. The deposit is released after your host confirms the RV came back in the same condition it left, typically within a few days of return. To avoid deposit issues, do a careful walkthrough video at pickup and dropoff, follow the host's tank dumping and fueling instructions, and stay within the mileage and generator hours listed. Pro tip: pickup in the morning gives you daylight to do that walkthrough properly before heading to your Clear Lake site.
