Excellent! From the initial contact our experience with Katie, and The Pony Express is absolutely perfect. We had prompt and clear communication. The Pony Express (RV), was delivered earlier than planned, super clean, with everything we needed, or asked for included. They set up and hooked up everything. Then, very clearly explained the details of using the RV. Over the coarse of 4 days we had just a few questions and concerns. Which Katie replied to almost immediately. It is a beautiful and well equipped trailer. Looks and feels like it is new. Perfect for us, 3 adults on this camping trip to a local music event. We look forward to contacting Katie and staying in The Pony Express again. Highly recommended!

How do I budget for fuel on a Granite Bay RV trip?

Fuel is one of the bigger costs of any RV trip from Granite Bay. Most motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, while travel trailer fuel use depends on your tow vehicle. California gas prices are typically the highest in the U.S. and in Placer County usually run in the $4.50 to $5.50 per gallon range. Fill up locally before heading out, and budget extra for mountain drives like Tahoe or Yosemite, where elevation gains reduce fuel economy. Apps like GasBuddy help you find the lowest local prices.

How far ahead should I book campgrounds near Granite Bay?

For peak summer (June to August), reserve sites at Folsom Lake State Recreation Area (including Beals Point and Peninsula) and Auburn State Recreation Area at least 3 to 4 months in advance. Spring and fall sites also book up, but you'll find more flexibility for last-minute trips. Use ReserveCalifornia for state park sites and Recreation.gov for federally managed campgrounds. Weekday stays usually have far better availability, and shoulder seasons are great for spontaneous Granite Bay RV camping adventures.

What's driving in Granite Bay like? Any road hazards or traffic to know?

Driving an RV in Granite Bay is generally easy thanks to wide, well-maintained roads. Auburn-Folsom Road and Douglas Boulevard are RV-friendly but can get busy during school commute hours and summer lake weekends. Watch for low branches and pedestrians when entering Folsom Lake park areas. Heading into the Sierra foothills brings curves and the chance of winter snow at higher elevations, so drive slowly and use low gears on descents. To avoid traffic, try not to merge onto I-80 toward Sacramento during weekday rush hours.

What amenities do local campgrounds around Granite Bay offer RVers?

Campgrounds near Granite Bay offer a wide range of amenities. Beals Point Campground at Folsom Lake provides RV sites, restrooms, showers, and a dump station. Peninsula Campground offers similar amenities with great lake views. Private parks in the surrounding area typically add full hookups (water, electric, sewer), laundry, and Wi-Fi. Most public sites include picnic tables and fire rings with nearby potable water and dump stations. Always confirm the specific amenities on your reservation site before arrival.
