10/10 host!! This was my first RV rental experience and the host responded to my many questions kindly and promptly. The host went above and beyond to make our needs for our trip met and make it a smooth experience from booking to delivery to pickup. The RV was in excellent shape and had plenty of perks to rave about. From the large bathroom, bonus media entertainment, comfy pullout couch and very well stocked RV, it made it a turn-key escape ready to enjoy from the jump. Cannot say more positive things about this host and our stay on this RV. Have no doubt you’ll be in great hands with this choice of a rental/host - wish I could give even more stars! Will definitely rebook and refer this RV every chance I get.

Yadean was such a great and attentive host, any questions we had he was quick to answer and van was absolutely amazing. So easy to drive (even for me and I’m 5 ft!) and everything was so thoughtfully designed. We feel so spoiled to have gotten to take the rocky roamer on our adventure, 1000% worth it.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Fairplay, CO
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Fairplay, CO?
Good news: RV rental in Fairplay, CO is often more affordable than booking lodging in nearby Breckenridge or Buena Vista. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $100 to $175 per night, campervans run about $150 to $250, and larger Class C motorhomes range from $200 to $375 nightly. Prices peak from mid-June through Labor Day when South Park and the Mosquito Range are at their busiest. Pro tip: book a midweek trip in early June or mid-September for cooler nights, golden aspens, and noticeably lower rates. Use the price filter to sort listings and message hosts directly about multi-night discounts.
colorado.com/cities-and-towns/fairplayWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Fairplay, CO?
Great news for first-time renters: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Fairplay, CO. Colorado does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for any RV you'll find on RVezy, including larger Class A motorhomes. You'll need to be 25 or older, and you'll confirm your identity right through the RVezy platform when you book. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto association, usually under $20. That's it. You'll be cruising Highway 285 toward South Park in no time.
dmv.colorado.gov/drivers-licensesIs RV rental in Fairplay protected if something goes wrong?
Absolutely, and this is one of the best reasons to book an RV rental in Fairplay through RVezy. Every booking includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can focus on the views of Mount Silverheels rather than worrying about a stray gravel chip on Boreas Pass Road. You choose your protection level at checkout (not the host), so you can match coverage to your comfort level. It is not standard auto insurance, but it provides real financial peace of mind for your Colorado Rockies adventure. Review the full details on the RVezy insurance and protection page before you book.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat if I need to cancel my Fairplay RV rental?
You can book your Fairplay RV trip with confidence. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and every booking includes a grace period right after you reserve where you can get a full refund. After that, your refund depends on how far in advance you cancel. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy will refund you or help you rebook. Mountain weather can shift quickly at 9,953 feet in Park County, so it is reassuring to know the policy is consistent and transparent. Review the full cancellation details on the RVezy Help Center or reach out to support anytime.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Fairplay?
Yes, plenty of pups call shotgun on South Park adventures. Filter for a pet-friendly RV rental in Fairplay on RVezy and you will find hosts who welcome dogs, sometimes with a small cleaning fee. Once you arrive, most trails in Pike National Forest allow leashed pets, including the popular Kite Lake Trailhead that leads toward four 14,000-foot peaks. The Middle Fork of the South Platte River pullouts near town are great for a paddle and a swim. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet details and ask about dog-friendly patios in historic downtown Fairplay.
fs.usda.gov/psiccCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Fairplay?
Yes, RV delivery in Fairplay is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters who would rather skip driving a 30-foot motorhome up Hoosier Pass. Many hosts will deliver, level, and fully set up your RV at campgrounds like Fourmile Creek, Aspen Campground in Pike National Forest, or a private property in the South Park valley. They will walk you through the propane, water, generator, and slide-outs so you can relax. Filter by Delivery on the RVezy search page and message hosts to confirm fees and range. It is the closest thing to glamping without giving up the freedom of an RV.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106154-DeliveryHow far can I drive on an RV road trip from Fairplay?
Fairplay sits at a perfect crossroads for a Colorado RV road trip. Some of the best routes from town include Breckenridge over Hoosier Pass (about 23 miles), Buena Vista and the Collegiate Peaks (35 miles south on Highway 285), the Royal Gorge near Cañon City (95 miles), Great Sand Dunes National Park (130 miles), and Rocky Mountain National Park via Estes Park (about 120 miles). Mileage policies vary by host, with many offering 100 to 150 free miles per night, and some offering RV rental with unlimited mileage. Check the listing's mileage details and message the host if you're planning a bigger loop.
codot.gov/travelWhere are the best campgrounds near Fairplay, CO?
You are spoiled for choice with RV camping in Fairplay. Fourmile Campground in Pike National Forest, southwest of town along the Mosquito Range, has shaded sites with stunning views. Aspen Campground sits along Fourmile Creek with sites that fit trailers up to about 30 feet. Western Inn RV Park right in town offers full hookups and easy walking access to the historic district. Round Mountain Campground southwest of Fairplay on Highway 285 is a quieter pick with vault toilets and great stargazing. Book federal sites through Recreation.gov up to 6 months ahead, especially for July weekends. Insider tip: weekday arrivals in June often score first-come sites with little competition.
recreation.gov/camping/gateways/2725When is the best time to rent an RV in Fairplay, CO?
Late June through mid-September is the sweet spot for RV camping in Fairplay, when daytime highs sit in the 70s F and nights cool to the 40s F, which is great sleeping weather at 9,953 feet of elevation. July brings wildflower season at Kite Lake, and late September delivers golden aspens along Boreas Pass. May and early October are shoulder seasons with lower RV rental pricing in Fairplay, though expect chilly nights near freezing. Winters are snowy with highs in the 30s F and many campgrounds closed, but a few four-season RVs stay available for snowmobilers and ice fishers at Antero and Spinney Mountain reservoirs.
weather.gov/pub/I am a first-time RV renter, will I get help figuring everything out?
Absolutely, and Fairplay is one of the friendliest places to try your first RV trip. Every RVezy host provides a full walkthrough at pickup, covering water, propane, generator, leveling, slide-outs, and the dump station process. They will share their contact info, and many hosts in the South Park area answer questions throughout your trip. Add 24/7 RVezy roadside assistance and you have real backup. Pro tip for first-time renters: book a Class B campervan or a smaller travel trailer for your first RV rental in Fairplay. They are easy to maneuver on Highway 285 and through the narrow mining-era streets of downtown.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360003652293-Renting-an-RVWhat happens if I have a breakdown or flat tire near Fairplay?
You are covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance with the protection plan, so a flat tire on Highway 9 or a dead battery at the Kite Lake trailhead is just a phone call away from being solved. Roadside can dispatch tire service, fuel delivery, jump starts, or a tow to the nearest qualified shop. Cell service is solid in downtown Fairplay and along Highway 285, though it gets spotty deep in Pike National Forest, so it is smart to download offline maps. Your host is also a quick text away for any RV-specific quirks like the propane regulator or generator startup.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008954-Roadside-assistanceCan I take my Fairplay RV rental into other states or Canada?
Many hosts welcome interstate adventures, so an RV road trip from Fairplay can easily expand into Wyoming for Yellowstone (about 8 to 9 hours), Utah for Arches and Moab (about 6 hours), or New Mexico for Taos and Santa Fe (about 4 hours). Cross-border travel to Canada may be allowed with host approval and proper documentation, while travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because protection coverage stops at the border. Message the host before booking to confirm your route. Pro tip: a multi-state itinerary pairs well with hosts offering RV rental with unlimited mileage, so filter for that option early.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Fairplay RV trip?
Fuel is one of the biggest variables, so let's make it predictable. Class B campervans get roughly 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A rigs and large travel trailers run 6 to 10 MPG. Gas prices in Park County usually run slightly higher than Denver, so fill up in Bailey or Conifer on your way up Highway 285. For a typical 4-night, 300-mile loop through Buena Vista and Salida in a Class C, expect around $120 to $200 in fuel. Pro tip: the Loaf 'N Jug in Fairplay is the most convenient fuel stop right in town before heading toward Hoosier Pass.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Fairplay?
For peak summer weekends in July and August, reserve campgrounds in the Fairplay area 4 to 6 months ahead, especially federal sites at Fourmile, Aspen, and Round Mountain campgrounds bookable through Recreation.gov. Colorado state parks like Eleven Mile and Spinney Mountain (about 30 minutes east) open reservations 6 months out and fill quickly. For more flexibility, target weekday arrivals or first-come, first-served dispersed sites in Pike National Forest along Weston Pass. Local insider tip: Western Inn RV Park in town often has midweek availability even in July, and you can walk to the South Park City Museum and downtown restaurants from your site.
cpw.state.co.us/placestogo/parksWhat's driving an RV around Fairplay actually like?
Driving in and around Fairplay is far more relaxed than people expect. Highway 285 is a well-maintained, wide-shouldered route, and town streets handle RVs without trouble. The main thing to know: you're at almost 10,000 feet, so engines lose some power on climbs like Hoosier Pass (11,539 ft) and Kenosha Pass (10,001 ft). Take it slow, use lower gears on descents, and watch for afternoon thunderstorms in July and August. Winter brings snow and ice on the passes, with chain laws sometimes in effect. Pro tip: cross Hoosier Pass to Breckenridge before 10 AM to beat both summer traffic and afternoon storms.
codot.gov/travel/winter-drivingWhat amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Fairplay?
Campground amenities around Fairplay range from full-service to rustic, so you can pick your style. Western Inn RV Park offers full hookups with 30/50-amp power, water, sewer, and Wi-Fi right in town. Pike National Forest sites like Aspen and Fourmile typically offer vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings but no hookups, so plan to use your RV fresh water tank and a generator if you need power. The most convenient dump station and potable water fill in town is at Western Inn RV Park. Showers are available at the Park County Aquatic Center for a small fee. Insider tip: top off your fresh water before leaving town, since dispersed sites have none.
fs.usda.gov/recarea/psicc/recarea/?recid=12351What's inside the RVs available in Fairplay?
You'll feel right at home. Most RV rentals in Fairplay come fully equipped with sleeping for 2 to 8, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and propane firepit. Wi-Fi is typically not built-in, but cell hotspots work well in town and along Highway 285. Given Fairplay's elevation and chilly nights, almost every listing here includes a propane furnace, and many offer heated holding tanks and a generator for boondocking. Check the listing's amenities list and ask hosts about cold-weather packages if you're visiting in shoulder season.
rvia.org/rv-typesWhat add-ons can I get with my Fairplay RV rental?
RVezy hosts in Fairplay offer some great extras to make your trip easier. Popular add-ons include camping chairs and outdoor rugs ($10 to $30), bedding and linen packages ($25 to $75), camping kitchen kits, generators ($25 to $50/night), bike racks, and propane fire pits. Many hosts also offer delivery and setup (great for Fourmile or Aspen campgrounds), dump-and-fill service at return, and pet packages. Mileage policies usually include 100 to 150 free miles per night, with extra miles around $0.30 to $0.50 each. Pickup is typically at the host's location or via delivery to your campsite. Pro tip: bundle bedding and a generator for one easy, comfortable trip.
parkco.us/166/TourismHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. When you book your RV rental in Fairplay through RVezy, you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which keeps your protection valid. A refundable security deposit (typically a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after the trip if there is no damage or extra cleaning. To avoid issues, take dated photos and videos at pickup and dropoff, return the RV with the agreed fuel and propane levels, and follow the dump and cleaning policy on the listing.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Fairplay for a winter trip?
Yes, and a winter RV trip in Fairplay is a hidden gem. Several hosts keep four-season RVs with heated tanks, extra insulation, propane furnaces, and skirting available year-round, perfect for ice fishing at Antero Reservoir, snowmobiling in the Mosquito Range, or skiing Breckenridge just over Hoosier Pass. Expect daytime highs in the 30s F and nights well below freezing, so look for listings labeled winter-ready and confirm shore power compatibility for plug-in sites. Western Inn RV Park stays open year-round with full hookups in Fairplay. Pro tip: message hosts directly about winter availability, since many block winter dates by default on their calendar.
