We had a great experience renting from Krystal and her husband. They were responsive, helpful, and very accommodating from start to finish. The camper was a perfect solution for hosting our out-of-town guests and provided the extra space we needed. We would gladly rent from them again in the future.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Sharon, CT
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Sharon, CT?
Great news: an RV rental in Sharon, CT is often more affordable than you'd expect for the Litchfield Hills region. Travel trailers typically run $90 to $175 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $180 to $325, and luxury Class A rigs land between $275 and $450. Weekly bookings, mid-week pickups, and shoulder-season trips in late April or October usually unlock the best rates. For a cheap RV rental Sharon, CT travelers love, filter for travel trailers with delivery included so you skip fuel costs on pickup. Pro tip: book 8 to 12 weeks ahead for peak foliage weekends in early October, when both rates and availability tighten quickly.
portal.ct.gov/decd/content/about_decd/research-and-publications/01_access-research/economic-dataWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Sharon, Connecticut?
Good news: a standard driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Sharon, Connecticut. Connecticut does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal RV use, no matter the size of motorhome or trailer you book. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified through the platform during checkout, so there's no paperwork to chase down. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP), usually under $20 from your local auto club. Once you're verified, you're cleared to roll straight to the Housatonic River Valley.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs RV rental coverage included when I book in Sharon?
Yes, every RVezy booking in Sharon comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built in, so you're covered from the moment you pull out of the driveway. The protection plan helps cover most damages to the RV during your trip, which is a relief when you're winding through the back roads of Litchfield County or parking along Route 7. During checkout, you'll choose from different protection levels so you can match the coverage to your comfort zone, whether that's a quick weekend at Lake Waramaug or a two-week New England loop. Learn more on RVezy's insurance and protection page before you book your Sharon RV trip.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat if my plans change after I book my RV rental in Sharon, CT?
You've got flexibility on your side. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and every booking includes a grace period shortly after booking where you can cancel for a full refund. After that, your refund depends on how close you are to your trip start date, which matters in Sharon where a surprise nor'easter or icy March storm can shift plans fast. If something unexpected comes up, reach out to RVezy support and they'll walk you through your options. Booking your Sharon RV trip early is genuinely low risk, especially when you want first pick of foliage season rigs.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV rental in Sharon?
Absolutely, and you've got plenty of options. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to instantly see every pet-friendly RV rental in Sharon, CT, with many hosts welcoming dogs of all sizes for a small cleaning fee. Once you're on the road, your pup will love the trails at Macedonia Brook State Park in nearby Kent and the open meadows along the Housatonic River. Heads up: Connecticut state park campgrounds, including Housatonic Meadows, generally restrict pets in camping areas, so consider a pet-friendly private park like Lone Oak Campsites in East Canaan instead. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet rules and you're set.
portal.ct.gov/deep/state-parks/pets-at-state-parks-and-forestsCan the RV be delivered to my campsite or rental property in Sharon?
Yes, RV delivery in Sharon, CT is one of the most popular options on the platform, especially for first-time renters. Many hosts will tow or drive the rig directly to your campground, lake house, or wedding venue, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. It's the easiest way to enjoy a motorhome rental Sharon, CT without ever getting behind the wheel of something big. Popular drop-off spots include Housatonic Meadows State Park, Lake Waramaug State Park, and private addresses around Sharon, Cornwall, and Kent. Filter listings by Delivery, then message the host with your destination to confirm fees and distance.
portal.ct.gov/deep/state-parks/parks/housatonic-meadows-state-parkHow far can I drive on an RV rental from Sharon, CT?
You can go just about anywhere in the Northeast. Hosts in Sharon set their own mileage policies, and you'll see the daily mileage allowance (often 100 to 150 free miles per day) right on the listing, with optional unlimited-mileage upgrades available on many rigs. From Sharon, popular RV road trip destinations include the Berkshires in Massachusetts (about 45 minutes), the White Mountains of New Hampshire (4 hours), Acadia National Park in Maine (7 hours), and Niagara Falls (6.5 hours). If you're planning a longer loop, look for listings tagged RV rental with unlimited mileage so the miles never weigh on your budget. Message the host to confirm your route works with their policy.

You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping Sharon, CT travelers rave about. Housatonic Meadows State Park, right on Route 7 in Sharon, has 61 riverside sites and a dump station, perfect for fly-fishing fans (RVs up to 35 feet). Macedonia Brook State Park in Kent offers 51 quiet, rustic sites and some of the darkest night skies in Connecticut. Lake Waramaug State Park in New Preston has 76 lakeside sites with swimming. Lone Oak Campsites in East Canaan is the closest full-hookup, family-friendly private park. For more space and amenities, Cozy Hills Campground in Bantam is about 35 minutes south. Pro tip: book Housatonic Meadows on Reserve America the moment your dates open.
portal.ct.gov/deep/state-parks/parks/housatonic-meadows-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Sharon, CT?
Late May through mid-October is the sweet spot for a Sharon RV trip, with the absolute peak being late September through the first two weeks of October when Litchfield Hills foliage explodes into red, gold, and orange. Summer highs average a comfortable 75 to 81°F in June and July, with cool 55 to 60°F nights that are perfect for campfires. Spring blooms arrive late here (mid-April to May), and shoulder seasons offer the lowest rates plus uncrowded trails. Winters get cold (Jan highs around 30°F with regular snow), but adventurous renters can find winterized rigs for ski trips to nearby Mohawk Mountain. Book foliage weekends 2 to 3 months out.
weather.gov/aly/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving in the Sharon area?
You're going to do great, and Sharon is one of the friendlier places in the Northeast to learn. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, showing you how to operate the slide-outs, leveling, propane, water, and waste systems, so you're never left guessing. Many first time renting an RV guests in Sharon opt for delivery, which means no highway driving on day one. Local roads like Route 41 and Route 4 are scenic, two-lane country routes with light traffic outside foliage weekends. Avoid the West Cornwall Covered Bridge with anything tall, and you'll be fine. Pro tip: pick up mid-morning so you have full daylight for your first drive.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if my RV breaks down during my trip?
You're never stranded. Every RVezy booking in Sharon, CT includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. If something goes wrong on Route 7 between Sharon and Cornwall or up in the Berkshires, one call gets help dispatched to your location. Your host is also a message away to troubleshoot quick questions (think pilot lights or generator quirks), and RVezy support is on standby before, during, and after every trip. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number to your phone before pickup and screenshot it, since cell service can be patchy on backroads near Kent and Cornwall.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take an RV rental from Sharon across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome and easy from Sharon. You're minutes from the New York and Massachusetts borders, so popular RV road trip routes include the Hudson Valley (30 minutes west), the Berkshires (45 minutes north), Cape Cod (about 3.5 hours east), and Acadia National Park in Maine (around 7 hours northeast). Canada trips, including Montreal (about 5.5 hours), are allowed on many listings, but always confirm with your host before booking since some policies have border restrictions. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: ask your host about extra mileage packages if you're planning a multi-state loop so you don't get surprised at drop-off.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Sharon RV trip?
Fuel is usually the second biggest line item after the rental itself, but it's predictable. Connecticut gas often runs a bit higher than the national average, with diesel slightly higher again. Travel trailers don't burn fuel themselves but reduce your tow vehicle's MPG to roughly 10 to 13. Class C motorhomes get about 8 to 12 MPG, and larger Class A rigs typically run 6 to 9 MPG. A weekend loop through Litchfield County (around 200 miles) in a Class C can run roughly $70 to $110 in gas at recent prices. Pro tip: check current pump prices on the EIA before you go, and consider filling up just over the border in Millerton, NY, where gas is often cheaper than in Connecticut.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Sharon?
Earlier is better, especially for the iconic spots. Connecticut state parks like Housatonic Meadows, Macedonia Brook, and Lake Waramaug release reservations through Reserve America (the official Connecticut DEEP system), and the most desirable riverside or lakeside sites for summer and foliage weekends sell out 3 to 6 months in advance. For July, August, and Columbus Day weekend, book the moment your dates open. Private parks like Lone Oak Campsites and Cozy Hills Campground are often easier to grab 4 to 8 weeks out. Weeknights are wide open almost everywhere. Pro tip: if your first choice is full, check cancellation listings on Reserve America two weeks before your trip, since spots open up constantly.
portal.ct.gov/deep/state-parks/state-park-and-forest-campingWhat are the driving conditions like around Sharon, CT?
Sharon driving is genuinely pleasant once you know the lay of the land. Roads are scenic, lightly trafficked, and easy to navigate, though hilly, with grades on Route 41 and Route 4 climbing through the Litchfield Hills. The West Cornwall Covered Bridge has restrictive height and weight limits, so route around it with anything taller or heavier than a standard vehicle. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk year-round, and ice or black ice from November through March. Summer foliage weekends bring slow traffic on Route 7 near Kent Falls. There are no tolls in Connecticut. Pro tip: download offline maps before heading north of Salisbury, where cell service can drop out.
portal.ct.gov/dot/traveler/traveler-informationWhat hookups and amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Sharon?
Expect a mix, and that's part of the fun. Connecticut state parks near Sharon (Housatonic Meadows, Macedonia Brook, Lake Waramaug) are mostly rustic with no individual electric or water hookups at sites, but they offer central water spigots, restrooms with showers, and on-site dump stations. Private parks like Lone Oak Campsites and Cozy Hills offer full hookups (30/50-amp electric, water, sewer) plus pools, Wi-Fi, and laundry. Pro tip: if you book a state park, ask your RVezy host about a portable waste tank (commonly called a blue tote) so you can extend your stay without breaking camp to dump.
portal.ct.gov/deep/state-parks/state-park-and-forest-campingWhat's actually inside an RV rental from Sharon?
More than you'd think, and almost everything you need is already on board. Most Sharon listings come fully equipped with a queen or king bed, additional bunks or convertible dinettes (sleeping 4 to 8), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, an indoor bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control with AC and furnace, and proper seatbelts for every passenger. Many include a TV, outdoor speakers, and Wi-Fi hotspots or starter kits with linens, dishes, and outdoor chairs. Generators are common on Class C and Class A rigs, perfect for nights at Macedonia Brook where there's no shore power. Filter by Sleeps count and amenities to narrow your campervan rental Sharon search fast.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Sharon%2C%20ConnecticutWhat add-ons and options can I get with my Sharon RV rental?
Hosts in Sharon offer a great range of add-ons to make your trip turnkey. Popular options include kitchen kits, linen and bedding packages, camp chairs and outdoor rugs, propane fire pits, bike racks, generators, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Many hosts also offer delivery and setup priced per mile from Sharon, prepaid waste tank dumping, and even pre-stocking firewood for your first night. Pickup and drop-off times are typically late morning to early afternoon, set by the host on the listing. Mileage policies vary, so check the daily allowance carefully. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus the kitchen kit so you can step into a fully ready RV with zero prep.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Sharon%2C%20ConnecticutHow does payment and the security deposit work for a Sharon RV rental?
Payment through RVezy is simple and secure: you pay your rental total by credit card at booking, and a refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card a few days before pickup, not actually charged unless there's an issue. After drop-off and the host's inspection, the hold is released, typically within a few business days. To avoid any surprises, take date-stamped photos and a quick video walk-around at both pickup and return, return the RV at the agreed fuel level, and empty the waste tanks if required in your agreement. Pro tip: discuss any minor wear with your host on the spot, as most are happy to call it normal use.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent a winterized RV near Sharon for ski or snow trips?
Yes, winter RV rentals are absolutely possible around Sharon, and they make a fantastic basecamp for skiing at Mohawk Mountain (25 minutes), Catamount (20 minutes across the NY border), or Butternut in the Berkshires (45 minutes). Look for listings that mention four-season use, heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and propane furnaces, plus shore-power hookups so you can stay warm overnight. Winter highs in Sharon average 30 to 36°F from December through February, with regular snow, so delivery to a campground or private driveway is the smart play. Filter by Delivery and message the host to confirm winter readiness. Pro tip: book a site with 30-amp electric (Lone Oak Campsites stays open seasonally) so your furnace doesn't drain propane overnight.
weather.gov/aly/Are there family-friendly RV trips I can do from Sharon, CT?
Sharon is a dream launch point for a family RV trip Sharon, CT parents will love. Spend day one swimming at Lake Waramaug State Park (just 35 minutes south), day two hiking the easy trails and waterfall at Kent Falls State Park (20 minutes), and day three tubing or fly-fishing the Housatonic River right from your site at Housatonic Meadows. Add an afternoon at the Sharon Audubon Center, a 1,100-acre nature preserve with hands-on kids' programs right in town. Many Sharon hosts offer family rigs that sleep 6 to 8 with bunkhouses and outdoor entertainment systems. Pro tip: filter for Pet-Friendly plus Delivery so the dog comes along and the RV is set up before you arrive.
