My wife and I rented this van for a weekend trip to go hiking and to test out a bit of van life. The van was great, clean, fully equipped, and everything worked as described. Stephanie is a fantastic host, quick to respond, and genuinely cares to make sure her renters have a good time. I highly recommend.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Ocean View, Delaware?

Good news: your everyday driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Ocean View. Delaware does not require a special license or commercial driver's license (CDL) for personal-use motorhomes and trailers under 26,000 pounds, which covers virtually every RV on the RVezy platform, from Class B campervans to large Class A motorhomes. You'll need to be 25 or older and verify your ID through the RVezy platform during booking. Visiting from another country? Bring your home driver's license along with an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto association. That's it, you're cleared to cruise Coastal Highway and head straight to the beach.

What if I need to cancel my Ocean View RV rental?

Booking is low risk. RVezy applies a clear, standardized cancellation policy to every reservation, including a money back grace period right after you book so you can lock in a great RV with confidence. The exact refund window depends on how far out from your trip you cancel. Hosts do not set these terms, RVezy does, which keeps things consistent across every listing. How many miles do I get and how far can I drive on an Ocean View RV trip?

Mileage allowances vary by host but commonly range from 100 to 150 miles per night, which is plenty for an Ocean View RV trip given how compact the area is. Bethany Beach is about 3 miles away, Rehoboth Beach is 15 miles north, Cape Henlopen State Park is about 25 miles, and Assateague Island National Seashore in Maryland is roughly 35 miles south. Planning a bigger adventure? Look for RV rental with unlimited mileage listings, or prepay extra miles upfront for a small per mile fee. Hosts list mileage clearly on every listing, so there are no surprises. Pro tip: a delivered RV often comes with zero mileage charges since you are not driving it.

Where are the best campgrounds near Ocean View to park my RV?

You are surrounded by some of the best campgrounds near Ocean View on the East Coast. Top picks include Delaware Seashore State Park (oceanfront full hookup sites along the Indian River Inlet, about 8 miles north), Holly Lake Campsites in Millsboro (family friendly, about 15 miles inland), Treasure Beach RV Park in Selbyville (full hookup sites with 50 amp service), Cape Henlopen State Park near Lewes (forested sites a short walk from the beach), and Big Oaks Family Campground in Rehoboth. Overnight parking outside campgrounds is not allowed at Delaware rest areas, so always book a site. Use destateparks.com to reserve state park sites up to a year in advance.

When is the best time to visit Ocean View, Delaware in an RV?

The sweet spot for RV camping Ocean View is late May through early October, when daytime highs run from the mid 70s to mid 80s F and ocean temps are swimmable. July and August are peak season with highs around 85 F, plenty of sunshine, and the liveliest beach scene, though expect heavier traffic on Route 1 and book campgrounds months ahead. September is the local insider favorite: warm water, thinner crowds, and softer rates. Spring (April to May) brings 60s to low 70s and blooming dunes, while winter is mild (40s F) and quiet, with year round campgrounds at Cape Henlopen, Lums Pond, and Trap Pond still open for cozy getaways.

I have never rented an RV before, will I be okay in Ocean View?

Yes, and Ocean View is one of the easiest places in the country for first time renting an RV. The roads are flat, the area is compact, and most campgrounds are designed for big rigs. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup or delivery, covering the generator, slide outs, propane, water systems, awning, and dump procedure. You can message your host anytime during the trip with questions. Many newcomers start with a smaller Class C motorhome or a delivered travel trailer (no towing or backing up required) to take the pressure off. RVezy 24/7 support has your back too. Most renters say their second day already feels routine.

What happens if something breaks down during my Ocean View RV trip?

You are not on your own. Every booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so a flat tire on Route 26, a dead battery at Delaware Seashore State Park, or a tow back from Assateague is just a phone call away. For mechanical issues inside the RV (like an AC quirk or a finicky water pump), your host is your first call and most are quick to troubleshoot by text or come out in person since they are local to the Ocean View and Bethany Beach area. RVezy support is also reachable around the clock. Pro tip: snap photos of all systems during your walkthrough so you have visual references if anything acts up.

Can I take my Ocean View RV rental on a longer road trip?

Yes, Ocean View is a perfect launchpad for an RV road trip from Ocean View up and down the Mid Atlantic. Popular routes include Assateague Island National Seashore (about 35 miles south, wild horses on the beach), Chincoteague, Virginia (about 60 miles), Cape May, NJ via the Lewes ferry (about 30 miles plus the ferry), Washington, DC (about 120 miles west), and Shenandoah National Park (about 240 miles). Most hosts allow travel throughout the continental US, and some allow Canada crossings (confirm with your host before booking). Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals due to insurance limits. Check your mileage allowance and budget for fuel before hitting I-95.

What should I budget for fuel on a Delaware RV trip?

Fuel is one of the friendlier numbers in your trip budget here. RV rental Delaware vehicles typically average 8 to 13 miles per gallon depending on size, and Delaware often has lower gas prices than neighboring Maryland and New Jersey. Because Ocean View is only minutes from Bethany Beach and under 30 miles from most attractions, a long weekend often burns just one tank. Pro tip: fill up at Royal Farms or Wawa stations along Route 113 inland before heading toward the coast, where beach town prices can run a bit higher. Many campgrounds offer propane refills onsite too.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Ocean View?

For summer weekends, the earlier the better. Delaware Seashore State Park and Cape Henlopen State Park release sites up to 11 months ahead and oceanfront spots can fill within hours. Book through the official Delaware State Parks reservation system at destateparks.com. For June through August, aim to reserve at least 3 to 6 months ahead. Private parks like Treasure Beach RV Park and Holly Lake Campsites also book heavily but often have last minute openings midweek. Pro tip: set up a free alert on a site like Campnab to get pinged when a cancellation opens at your dream beachfront site. Shoulder season bookings are far more relaxed.

What is driving an RV like around Ocean View and the Delaware beaches?

Easy and mostly stress free. Ocean View sits on flat coastal terrain with no mountains, no tunnels, and no aggressive grades, so even larger Class A motorhomes feel manageable. The main route, Coastal Highway (Route 1), gets busy on summer Saturdays around the Bethany Beach and Dewey Beach exits, so plan check ins for Sunday or midweek if you can. Watch for the Indian River Inlet Bridge with its scenic but breezy crossing, low hanging tree limbs in older campground loops, and 25 mph zones through downtown Bethany Beach. Hurricane season (August through October) can bring sudden coastal squalls, check the forecast each morning. The compact geography means most drives are under 30 minutes.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Ocean View?

You will find a great range. Delaware Seashore State Park offers full hookup RV sites (water, electric, sewer), modern bathhouses with hot showers, an onsite dump station, and direct ocean and bay access. Cape Henlopen and Lums Pond also have full hookups and dump stations, plus laundry at most parks. Private resorts like Treasure Beach and Holly Lake add pools, playgrounds, camp stores, and Wi-Fi. Potable water fill stations are available at every state park entrance. One important local rule: outside firewood is restricted at Delaware State Parks to help prevent invasive pest spread, so buy firewood at the campground store. Most state park sites are 30 or 50 amp, so confirm your RV plug type with your host before arrival.
destateparks.com/camping/

What is included inside the RV itself?

Pretty much everything you need to feel at home. Most Ocean View motorhome rental and travel trailer listings come fully equipped: real beds (ask the host about linens), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, cookware and dishes, a bathroom with shower and toilet, air conditioning, heat, a dining area, and seatbelts for travel. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor chairs, and an awning for shady beach naps. Some hosts add generators (great for boondocking), Wi-Fi hotspots, beach gear like chairs and umbrellas, and even bikes. Each listing has a detailed amenities list, scroll through before booking. Pro tip: message the host to confirm coffee maker style and number of pillows if those matter to you.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Ocean%20View%2C%20Delaware

What add-ons and extras can I get with my Ocean View RV rental?

Plenty, and they make beach trips noticeably easier. Popular add-ons on Ocean View listings include delivery and setup, generator rental, beach packages (chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards), bike rentals, kayaks or stand up paddleboards, propane top offs, dump and cleaning service, and pet packages. Pickup and dropoff are typically arranged with the host at their location or via delivery to your campground or Bethany Beach rental. Mileage policies are listed clearly on each listing, with add on options when you need more range. Pro tip: bundling cleaning and dump service is a small splurge that makes return day completely stress free.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Ocean%20View%2C%20Delaware

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Simple and secure. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which protects both sides. A refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card before pickup and released after the trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. To avoid deposit issues, do a thorough walkthrough at pickup, take time stamped photos inside and out, return the RV at the agreed fuel and propane level, empty the holding tanks if required (or pay the dump add on), and clean up after yourself. That is it, you are set up to get your full deposit back quickly.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Is winter RV camping near Ocean View doable?

Yes, and it is a quietly magical Delaware secret. Cape Henlopen, Lums Pond, and Trap Pond State Parks stay open year round, and self contained RVs are a smart choice when bathhouses close for the season. Daytime winter highs in Ocean View typically run in the 40s F with occasional 50s, so you will want a campervan rental Ocean View or motorhome with a working furnace and ideally heated holding tanks, ask your host directly before booking. Off season rates drop significantly, beaches are empty for long dog walks, and many Bethany Beach restaurants stay open. Pro tip: bring a small electric space heater to ease the furnace workload at shore power sites.
