There was a grounding issue between the 5000W inverter and the trailer. Ryan (trailer owner) was very responsive when contacted, troubleshot the issue quickly, kept the communication during the rental period great, and was very flexible with delivery and pickup. I was very impressed with my rental experience with Ryan I would rent from him again

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Wilmington%2C%20DelawareWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Wilmington, Delaware?
Great news for first-time renters: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Wilmington, Delaware. The state does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal RVs, motorhomes, or travel trailers used recreationally. To book on RVezy you'll need to be 25 or older and complete a quick ID confirmation directly through the platform. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home country license along with an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto association, usually under $20. That's it, you're cleared to hit I-95 and start your Wilmington RV trip.
dmv.de.gov/services/driver_services/drivers_license/dr_lic_classes.shtmlWhat protection is included when I book an RV rental in Wilmington?
You are covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Wilmington booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head to the Brandywine Valley with real peace of mind. The protection plan helps cover damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose from different coverage levels at checkout based on how much extra cushion you want. Coverage details, limits, and deductibles are shown clearly on the booking page. Pro tip: review the coverage tiers and pick the one that matches your comfort level, especially if it is your first time renting an RV.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Wilmington RV rental?
Booking is low-risk because RVezy, not individual hosts, sets the cancellation policy, which keeps things consistent across every Wilmington RV rental. There is a grace period right after booking, plus refund tiers that depend on how far out from your trip you cancel. If a host cancels, you are refunded or offered travel credit. To review your options, open your trip in the RVezy app or visit the Help Center. Pro tip: book early to lock in the RV you want, knowing the cancellation policy gives you built-in flexibility if plans change.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Wilmington RV trip?
Yes, a pet-friendly RV rental in Wilmington is easy to find on RVezy. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you will see motorhomes and travel trailers from hosts who welcome dogs. Once you are rolling, Delaware is fantastic for pups: Brandywine Creek State Park has leashed-dog trails along the Brandywine River, Bellevue State Park is a quick drive from downtown Wilmington, and Cape Henlopen State Park has dog-friendly beach access outside of peak summer swimming hours. Message your host before booking to confirm any pet fees. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl, the humidity around Wilmington gets serious in July.
destateparks.com/know-before-you-go/pets/Can the RV be delivered to me in Wilmington?
Yes, RV delivery in Wilmington is one of the best ways to start your trip stress-free. Many RVezy hosts will deliver and set up the rig directly at your campground, driveway, or vacation rental, which is a big help if you are new to RVing or nervous about the I-95 and I-495 split. Popular delivery destinations from Wilmington hosts include Lums Pond State Park in Bear (about 20 minutes south), Brandywine Creek State Park (about 15 minutes north), and Cape Henlopen near Lewes (about 90 minutes south). Look for the Delivery filter on RVezy, then message hosts for a delivery quote based on mileage. Pro tip: ask about full setup, many hosts will level, hook up, and walk you through everything on arrival.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Wilmington%2C%20DelawareHow far can I drive on my Wilmington RV rental?
You have plenty of range for a great Delaware adventure. Most Wilmington RV rentals on RVezy include a daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 miles per day), with additional miles available at a per-mile rate, and some hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage. From Wilmington you can reach Cape Henlopen State Park in about 95 miles, Assateague Island and its wild ponies in about 130 miles, Washington, D.C. in about 110 miles, and the Pocono Mountains in roughly 150 miles, all easy weekend distances. Pro tip: estimate your route in advance and ask the host about an unlimited-mileage add-on for longer Delaware-to-Outer-Banks loops, it often saves money versus paying per mile.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Wilmington%2C%20DelawareWhere are the best campgrounds near Wilmington?
You are spoiled for choice for RV camping near Wilmington. Top picks include Lums Pond State Park in Bear (full hookup RV sites at Delaware's largest freshwater pond, about 20 minutes south), Killens Pond State Park near Felton (RV sites in mature pine forest, about an hour south), and Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes (sites near where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic). Just over the line, Elk Neck State Park in Maryland and Philadelphia South/Clarksboro KOA in New Jersey are both under an hour away. Reserve through the Delaware State Parks reservation portal up to one year ahead. Pro tip: Lums Pond books fast for summer weekends, target a Sunday to Thursday stay for easier availability.
destateparks.com/pond/lumspond/When is the best time to take an RV trip from Wilmington?
Spring and fall are ideal for a Wilmington RV trip. April through early June brings blooming gardens at Longwood, comfortable 60 to 75 degree days, and fewer mosquitoes, while September and October deliver crisp air, fall foliage along the Brandywine, and ocean water still warm enough for a beach day at Cape Henlopen. Summer (late June to August) is popular but hot and humid, often 85 to 90 degrees with afternoon thunderstorms. Winter RVing is doable thanks to mild lows in the 25 to 40 degree range, though some state park campgrounds run reduced services. Pro tip: book early October for great weather plus open campground availability after the summer rush.
weather.gov/phi/I have never driven an RV before. Will I be okay renting in Wilmington?
Yes, and you are in good hands. First time renting an RV? Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup, covering driving, leveling, slide-outs, propane, water, and the dump process, so you never leave the lot guessing. Wilmington is a smart launchpad because once you are south of the I-495 split or west onto Route 1, traffic eases and roads open up. Many local hosts also offer delivery, meaning your only driving might be from the campsite to a grocery run. Pro tip: pick a travel trailer or smaller Class C for your first trip, practice a few turns in an empty lot, and plan fuel stops with pull-through access (Wawa and Royal Farms stations off I-95 work well).
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if my RV breaks down during my trip?
You are never stranded. Every RV rental in Wilmington booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire, dead battery, or mechanical issue is one phone call away, day or night. You will also have direct messaging with your host, who knows the rig inside out and can troubleshoot quickly. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip if anything bigger comes up. Pro tip: save the roadside number to your phone before you leave Wilmington, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate so you can share details fast if you ever need help on Route 1 or I-95.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best RV road trips from Wilmington?
An RV road trip from Wilmington puts the entire Mid-Atlantic at your doorstep. Top routes include Wilmington to Cape Henlopen and Rehoboth Beach (about 95 miles south on Route 1, an easy beach weekend), Wilmington to Assateague Island National Seashore for wild ponies on the beach (about 130 miles), Wilmington to Lancaster County Amish Country (about 50 miles north into Pennsylvania), Wilmington to Shenandoah National Park (about 200 miles southwest, great for a 4-day fall foliage loop), and Wilmington up to the Pocono Mountains (about 150 miles). Cross-border travel between U.S. states is straightforward, but Mexico travel is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: combine Cape Henlopen with the Cape May Lewes Ferry for a fun New Jersey return loop.
visitdelaware.com/things-to-do/What fuel mileage should I expect, and what does gas cost in Delaware?
Budgeting fuel is easier than you might think. Most Wilmington-area motorhomes get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, while a truck-and-travel-trailer setup tends to land around 10 to 14 mpg. Delaware is typically one of the cheaper gas states in the Northeast, with regular unleaded often running below New Jersey and Pennsylvania prices, and there is no state sales tax on supplies you stock up on. For a 300-mile weekend loop you are looking at roughly $90 to $150 in fuel for a Class C motorhome rental in Wilmington. Pro tip: fill up at Wawa or Royal Farms on Route 13 or I-95 before crossing into Maryland or New Jersey for usually lower prices.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Wilmington?
Earlier is better, but you have options. Delaware State Parks open campsite reservations up to one year in advance through the official reservation portal, and popular spots like Cape Henlopen, Lums Pond, and Delaware Seashore fill up months ahead for summer weekends and holidays. For a stress-free summer Wilmington RV trip, aim to book 4 to 6 months out; for spring or fall, 4 to 8 weeks is usually plenty. Private parks like Philadelphia South/Clarksboro KOA can often be booked within a week or two. Pro tip: if a state park shows sold out, check back often, last-minute cancellations are common.
destateparks.com/reservation-information/What is driving an RV around Wilmington actually like?
Easier than you would expect once you know a couple of local quirks. Wilmington's biggest driving consideration is the I-95 and I-495 split just north of downtown, where I-495 is the truck and RV-friendly bypass that lets you skip city traffic and tighter underpasses. The Wilmington downtown grid has narrow one-way streets, so most renters either get the RV delivered or skip the city core entirely. Route 1 south to the beaches is wide, flat, and easy. Watch for summer thunderstorms and occasional fog along the Delaware River. Pro tip: take I-495 around Wilmington in either direction, and avoid the Route 13 corridor during weekday rush hours.
deldot.gov/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Wilmington?
You will find everything from full-service private resorts to scenic state parks. Lums Pond State Park near Wilmington offers full hookup RV sites (water, electric, sewer), hot showers, a dump station, potable water fill, and a camp store, while Cape Henlopen and Delaware Seashore have full hookup loops plus beach access. Private parks like Philadelphia South/Clarksboro KOA add pools, Wi-Fi, and cable. Outside firewood is prohibited in Delaware State Parks (firewood is sold on-site) to prevent invasive pests. Pro tip: arrive before 4 p.m. on Fridays, the Lums Pond office and dump station get busy heading into the weekend.
destateparks.com/pond/lumspond/What is inside the RVs available for rent in Wilmington?
More comfort than most first-timers expect. A typical motorhome rental in Wilmington comes with a real bed (often a queen), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, dinette seating, climate control via AC and furnace, and seatbelts for travel passengers. Many Class C and Class A rigs add a generator for boondocking, a TV, awning, and outdoor speakers. Travel trailers from Wilmington hosts often include similar features minus the cab. Wi-Fi varies: some hosts include a hotspot, others recommend tethering from your phone. Pro tip: confirm sleeping capacity and seatbelt count on the listing page so your family RV trip in Wilmington has a safe spot for every passenger.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Wilmington%2C%20DelawareWhat add-ons and pickup options should I expect on a Wilmington RV rental?
Hosts make it easy to customize your trip. Popular RVezy add-ons in Wilmington include kitchen and linen kits ($50 to $100), generator hours ($3 to $5 each), bike racks, camp chairs, outdoor grills, and tank dumping and cleaning ($40 to $75 so you do not have to do it yourself). Mileage policies are set by the host (typically 100 to 150 free miles per day with extras around $0.35 to $0.50 per mile), and many offer unlimited mileage upgrades. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Wilmington, with delivery available to campgrounds, your driveway, or Philadelphia International Airport (PHL, about 30 minutes away). Pro tip: bundle add-ons when you book, hosts often discount packages versus a la carte.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Wilmington%2C%20DelawareHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and fully handled through the RVezy platform, so you never hand cash to a host. You pay your rental total (nightly rate, fees, add-ons, and protection) by credit or debit card at booking. A refundable security deposit is held separately on your card before pickup, typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig, and it is released after the trip once the RV is returned in the same condition with the same fuel and tank levels. To avoid any deposit issues on your motorhome rental in Wilmington, take date-stamped photos at pickup and drop-off, follow the host's fuel and dump instructions, and message through the app to keep a clear record. Pro tip: ask the host to walk you through the checkout checklist on day one so there are no surprises later.
