RV & camper rentals in Nahunta, GA

Good news: an RV rental in Nahunta is one of the most affordable ways to explore Georgia's coastal swamp country. Travel trailers in the Brantley County area typically start around $80 to $130 per night, Class C motorhomes run $150 to $250 per night, and larger Class A coaches range $200 to $350. Because Nahunta sits off the tourist track between Waycross and Brunswick, you'll often find better rates here than in beach hubs like St. Simons or Jekyll Island. Pro tip: book Sunday through Thursday for the lowest nightly rates, and look for hosts offering weekly discounts if you're planning a full Okefenokee Swamp adventure.

A regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Nahunta, Georgia. The State of Georgia does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for personal motorhomes, travel trailers, or campervans rented through RVezy, regardless of size. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older with a valid license, and ID verification happens right in the booking platform. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country along with your license. Once you arrive in Brantley County, you are free to point the wheels toward the Okefenokee or up the Satilla River with confidence.

This is especially reassuring for first-time renters heading into rural areas like the Satilla River basin or the Okefenokee. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy provides a full refund or travel credit. The sweet spot is mid-October through April, when daytime highs hover between 65°F and 78°F, humidity drops, and the bugs back off — perfect conditions for hiking the Okefenokee boardwalks. Winter nights dip into the 40s, so a heated RV is a cozy plus. Summers (June to September) bring 90°F+ heat and afternoon thunderstorms, but early-morning swamp tours and shaded riverside campsites still make it doable. Local insider tip: visit in late February or March to catch blooming swamp irises and active alligator mating season at the refuge — it's spectacular.

Nahunta is genuinely one of the best places in Georgia to try renting an RV for the first time. The roads here are flat, wide, and rural, with light traffic on US-301 and Highway 82, so you'll have plenty of breathing room to get comfortable behind the wheel. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering how to extend slides, connect to shore power, and operate the water system. You can also book a host who offers delivery and setup, meaning your only job is to relax. Pro tip: spend your first night at Laura S. Walker State Park, just 25 miles away, so you're close to home base while you get the hang of things.

You are covered: every RVezy rental in Nahunta includes 24/7 roadside assistance with the renter protection plan, so help is just a phone call away whether you have a flat on US-82 or a dead battery at a Satilla River boat launch. Roadside assistance handles common situations like tire changes, jump starts, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing to a qualified service center. Your host is also your direct line for any RV-specific quirks, and RVezy support is available throughout your trip. Brunswick is the closest larger city (about 45 minutes east) with full RV service options.

Many RVezy hosts allow travel throughout the U.S., including down I-95 to Jacksonville, St. Augustine, or even Daytona Beach for a classic RV road trip from Nahunta. Just confirm with your host before booking, since some set state limits in their listing. Heads-up: travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental due to insurance coverage limits. Insider tip: a 4-hour drive south puts you at Florida's Atlantic beaches, and 3 hours west takes you to Tallahassee, both perfect long-weekend escapes from your Nahunta RV trip.

Budgeting for fuel is straightforward here: gas prices in rural southeast Georgia tend to run lower than national averages, with Brantley and Pierce counties usually a few cents below the Georgia state average. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 10 mpg, Class A coaches get 6 to 8 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (typically 10 to 14 mpg). For a 200-mile loop from Nahunta through Okefenokee, Jekyll Island, and back, expect to spend roughly $50 to $90 on fuel in a Class C. Pro tip: fill up in Waycross or Brunswick rather than smaller towns along US-301, and use the Pilot or Flying J in Kingsland for the lowest diesel prices in the region.

For Laura S. Walker State Park and other Georgia State Parks near Nahunta, book through ReserveAmerica or the Georgia State Parks website as early as possible — sites are released 13 months in advance and popular weekends (especially March through May and October) fill fast. Insider tip: if your dates are full at Laura S. Walker, check General Coffee State Park or Crooked River State Park — both are within an hour and have excellent RV sites with full hookups.

Driving an RV around Nahunta is refreshingly easy. The main routes — US-301, US-82, and Georgia Highway 32 — are flat, straight, two-to-four-lane roads with wide shoulders, very little traffic, and no mountain passes or tight curves. There are no urban height clearances or low bridges to worry about in Brantley County. Just two local notes: keep an eye out for logging trucks (this is timber country) and watch for sudden afternoon thunderstorms in summer that can cause brief heavy rain. Deer are also active at dawn and dusk on rural stretches. Pro tip: avoid driving the swamp-edge backroads after dark — alligators occasionally cross, and visibility is limited.

Most campgrounds near Nahunta offer the essentials you need for a smooth RV trip. Laura S. Walker State Park has water and 30/50-amp electric at every site, a centralized dump station, hot showers, flush toilets, and a fishing dock. Private parks like Okefenokee Pastimes and Pebble Hill RV Resort offer full hookups (water, electric, sewer at the site), WiFi, and laundry. For dump stations and fresh water fill-ups on the road, Laura S. Walker is a top-rated public option, and most Pilot/Flying J stations along I-95 near Brunswick have RV lanes. Insider tip: fill your fresh water tank before heading deep into the Okefenokee area, since some primitive sites have no potable water hookups.

RV rentals in Nahunta come fully equipped for a comfortable trip. Most travel trailers and motorhomes include a queen or king bed, full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), bathroom with shower, air conditioning, heating, and dining/living space that sleeps 4 to 8 people. Class B campervan rentals in Nahunta are perfect for couples and solo travelers wanting easy maneuverability. Many hosts offer add-ons like generators, outdoor grills, bikes, kayaks (great for the Satilla River!), camping chairs, and linen packages. WiFi and TVs are common in newer rigs, though cell signal can be spotty deep in the Okefenokee. Pro tip: ask your host about a generator add-on if you plan any off-grid nights at Traders Hill or primitive sites.

Mileage policies vary — some hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night, while others offer unlimited mileage, which is great for longer Okefenokee or coastal loops. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a dump-station add-on for the most hands-off, vacation-mode experience possible.

Payment is simple and secure through RVezy: you pay directly on the platform with a credit or debit card, never in cash to the host. Your booking total covers the nightly rate, service fee, protection plan, and any add-ons you have selected. A refundable security deposit is held separately on your card before the trip, with the amount set by the host and shown before you book.
