Hibiscus was amazing! It was nice and clean when we rented it and was fully stocked with everything you would need while camping dished, cookwares, silverware, and even chairs and an outdoor rug! Gary and his wife made sure that we would have a great trip. It was super easy to hook it up and the camp grounds. It drove great and was easier than expected and got even better gas mileage than we expected. I will most definitely be booking with Gary again in the future!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Arbutus, MD

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Arbutus, MD?

RV rental in Arbutus is an affordable way to explore Maryland, especially compared to flying or booking hotels for a family. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A motorhomes generally start around $250 per night. Prices peak in summer when Ocean City and the Chesapeake beaches are busiest, so booking a shoulder-season trip in April, May, or September is a smart way to find a cheap RV rental in Arbutus. What happens if I need to cancel my Arbutus RV rental?

Booking is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy at the platform level, not the individual host. The policy includes a short grace period after booking during which you can cancel for a full refund, and refund amounts after that depend on how close your cancellation is to your trip start date. If a host cancels on you, RVezy will help you rebook or provide a refund or credit. You can review the full cancellation terms in your booking confirmation and on the RVezy Help Center before you book.

Cherry Hill Park in College Park is a top-rated full-service resort with a pool, around 35 minutes south toward DC. For a beach weekend, Castaways RV Resort in Ocean City is a popular choice. When is the best time for RV camping in Arbutus?

The sweet spot for RV camping near Arbutus is mid-April through late October, with two standout windows. Spring from April to early June brings 60 to 75 degree days, blooming dogwoods in Patapsco Valley, and fewer bugs. Fall from mid-September through October delivers crisp 50 to 70 degree weather and great foliage along the Patapsco River. Summer is warm and humid, often 85 to 90 degrees with afternoon thunderstorms, so look for RVs with strong air conditioning. Winter rentals are available too if you want quiet trips to historic Ellicott City or Annapolis. Book your Maryland RV trip at least 6 weeks ahead for October weekends.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?

Yes, first time renting an RV is more approachable than most people expect, and Arbutus is a great launching pad. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water system, propane, and dump procedures before you drive away. Travel trailers and Class C motorhomes built on a van chassis are the most beginner-friendly choices. From Arbutus, you can avoid downtown Baltimore by jumping straight onto I-695 or I-95 toward quieter destinations. Choose a host who offers delivery for your first trip so you can skip the driving stress entirely, and text your host mid-trip with any questions.

What's a good RV road trip from Arbutus?

An RV road trip from Arbutus opens up the entire Mid-Atlantic. The classic loop heads east to Assateague Island with its wild horses on the beach, about 3 hours away, then up to Cape Henlopen in Delaware. Mountain lovers point west to Deep Creek Lake (about 3 hours) or Shenandoah's Skyline Drive (about 2 hours). History buffs can reach Gettysburg, PA in just over an hour and add Antietam Battlefield. For a Chesapeake escape, St. Michaels and Tilghman Island are about 2 hours away. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed on some listings, so message the host first, and trips into Mexico are not covered by RVezy.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Maryland RV trip?

Fuel is the biggest variable but it is easy to budget. Travel trailers do not burn extra gas beyond your tow vehicle's normal MPG, while Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 12 MPG and Class A rigs around 6 to 10 MPG. Maryland gas prices generally track close to the national average and recent prices in the Baltimore area have hovered around $3.20 to $3.70 per gallon. For a 500-mile weekend loop in a Class C, plan on roughly $150 to $225 in fuel. Fill up at Costco or Sam's Club near Arbutus or in Glen Burnie before you leave town, the savings add up over a long weekend.

How far ahead should I book a campground?

For Maryland state parks like Patapsco Valley, Elk Neck, and Assateague State Park, reservations open 12 months in advance at parkreservations.maryland.gov, and prime summer weekends often sell out quickly. National Park sites including Assateague Island National Seashore book through Recreation.gov on a 6-month rolling window. Private parks like Cherry Hill Park and Bar Harbor RV Park usually have more flexibility but still fill up for July 4th and Labor Day. Book your RV first on RVezy, then your campground the same day, and aim for Sunday-to-Thursday stays when sites are easier to grab and rates often drop.

What are driving conditions like around Arbutus?

Driving an RV around Arbutus is manageable once you know the local quirks. I-695 (the Baltimore Beltway) and I-95 are wide, well-maintained interstates that make it easy to get out of town. Avoid the Fort McHenry Tunnel (I-95) and Baltimore Harbor Tunnel (I-895) if your RV is carrying propane, as propane-equipped vehicles are restricted in those tunnels; take I-695 around the city instead. Downtown Baltimore has low clearances and tight streets, so steer clear in anything over 20 feet. Summer afternoon thunderstorms are common, and winter occasionally brings ice on I-70 heading west. Use RV-specific routing apps like RV Life to avoid surprises.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Arbutus?

Most campgrounds near Arbutus offer the essentials and more. Patapsco Valley State Park's Hollofield Area provides electric hookups, a dump station, potable water, hot showers, and flush toilets. Cherry Hill Park in College Park is full-service with sewer hookups, WiFi, a pool, a dog park, and a cafe. Bar Harbor RV Park has full hookups plus a marina. For boondocking or quick overnights, the Maryland House and Chesapeake House travel plazas on I-95 allow short-term parking. Top off fresh water and dump your tanks at Patapsco's dump station before heading home, it is free for registered campers and saves a stop later.

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Popular extras include bike racks, kayak and SUP carriers, camp chairs and tables, propane fire pits, generators, linens packages, and pre-stocked kitchen kits, typically $10 to $50 each. How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment on RVezy is straightforward and fully online, with no cash or off-platform transfers at pickup. You pay the rental total securely through the platform when you book, which protects both you and the host. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment, typically ranging from a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the RV, and is released back to your card after the trip if there is no damage or extra cleaning required. Do a thorough walk-around with your host at pickup and dropoff, take a few photos, and return the RV at the agreed fuel and tank levels.
