How much does it cost to rent an RV in Elkridge, MD?

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Elkridge, MD?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Elkridge for virtually every motorhome and travel trailer on RVezy. Maryland only requires a non-commercial Class B license for very large RVs, which is heavier than nearly every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, and towable on the platform. To rent an RV in Elkridge through RVezy, approved drivers are generally 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID securely through the booking process. Visiting from abroad? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home auto association before your trip and you're ready to roll out of Elkridge.

What is the cancellation policy if my plans change?

Booking your motorhome rental in Elkridge is low-risk because RVezy (not the host) sets the cancellation policy across the platform. Refund amounts depend on how far out your trip is when you cancel, and RVezy support can help when something like a hurricane tracking up the Chesapeake impacts your dates. Cancellation terms are managed by RVezy, not buried in individual listings, so you always know where you stand. Pro tip: book early to lock in the RV you love, then reach out to RVezy support if life throws a curveball, they'll walk you through your options.

I've never driven an RV before. How does it work?

First time renting an RV? You're in great company, and RVezy is designed for exactly this. Every host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup (or at delivery), walking you through driving the rig, leveling, hookups, the propane system, slide-outs, and the dump valves before you ever pull away. You can message your host with questions before you book, and 24/7 roadside assistance is included if you hit a hiccup on the road. Pro tip: ease in with a smaller Class C motorhome or travel trailer, and pick a first-night stay close by like Patapsco Valley State Park (just 15 minutes from Elkridge) so you can settle in before tackling longer drives.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Maryland RV trip?

Fuel is the biggest variable on any RV rental Maryland budget, so plan ahead. As of spring 2026, Maryland's regular gas averages around $3.80 to $4.00 per gallon (Baltimore metro typically tracks just slightly under the state average). Class C motorhomes get roughly 8-10 miles per gallon (mpg), Class A rigs 6-9 mpg, campervans 16-20 mpg, and a trailer-towing SUV or truck 10-14 mpg. For a 300-mile weekend in a Class C, budget around $120-$150 in fuel. Pro tip: use GasBuddy to find cheaper stations along US-1 and Route 100 before getting on I-95, where highway-adjacent stations often charge a premium.

For the best campgrounds near Elkridge, MD, book as early as you can, especially for summer weekends and fall foliage. What are the driving conditions like around Elkridge?

Driving an RV out of Elkridge is very manageable once you know the local quirks. The town sits at the I-95 and I-895 junction with easy access to I-70 and the Baltimore Beltway (I-695), all wide highways well-suited to motorhomes. Avoid driving through downtown Baltimore or central D.C. (low clearances, tight streets), and skip the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel (I-895) in larger rigs, instead use the Fort McHenry Tunnel (I-95) which allows most non-hazmat RVs, or the Key Bridge replacement route. Rush hour (7-9am and 3-7pm) on I-95 is brutal. Pro tip: head north or west early in the morning to avoid the heaviest D.C.-to-Baltimore commuter traffic.

Washington DC/Capitol KOA has full hookups, a pool, and a shuttle option for D.C. sightseeing. Ramblin' Pines features full hookups, a pool, and a camp store. Patapsco Valley State Park is more rustic, with electric sites at Hollofield, drinking water, restrooms, and a dump station, but no sewer hookups at sites. Pro tip: most Maryland State Parks have a centralized dump station and potable water fill, so empty and fill up before heading home to Elkridge.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment for your RV rental in Elkridge is handled securely through RVezy, never directly to the host, which keeps everything documented and protected. The deposit covers things like minor damage, late returns, or excessive cleaning. Pro tip: do a thorough walk-around with the host at pickup and dropoff, take date-stamped photos of the interior and exterior, and return the RV cleaned out with fuel and propane levels noted on your contract for a fast, full deposit refund.
