🌄 Our First RV Adventure—10 Days of Fun & Freedom! - This was our very first RV vacation, and while we were a little hesitant at first, Bill made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. He was incredibly helpful—available before, during, and even after our trip to answer questions and offer support. His thorough walkthrough before we hit the road gave us confidence, especially with tips on what to do in different situations. We took the RV for 10 days from South Florida to the mountains of Maryland, stopping at six different campgrounds and even plugging in at my sister’s and in-laws’ homes for a few nights. The RV had everything we needed and was in great shape—clean, well-equipped, and surprisingly easy to drive. We returned it with just a minor hubcap issue and no other problems, which felt like a blessing after such a big trip. We had an absolute blast and would highly recommend this RV to anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable, and fun way to travel. Thanks again, Bill!

Hibiscus was amazing! It was nice and clean when we rented it and was fully stocked with everything you would need while camping dished, cookwares, silverware, and even chairs and an outdoor rug! Gary and his wife made sure that we would have a great trip. It was super easy to hook it up and the camp grounds. It drove great and was easier than expected and got even better gas mileage than we expected. I will most definitely be booking with Gary again in the future!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Leisure World, MD

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Leisure World, MD?

RV rental in Leisure World is often more affordable than booking hotels in the DC metro area. On RVezy you'll typically find travel trailers from about $90 to $160 per night, campervans around $150 to $225, and larger Class C motorhomes between $200 and $325 per night. Spring cherry blossom season (late March to mid-April) and fall foliage weekends are the priciest times around Montgomery County, so booking midweek or in the shoulder months of late April or early November is a smart way to find a cheap RV rental in Leisure World. Pro tip: filter for Instant Book and bundle delivery to skip the pickup drive entirely.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Leisure World, Maryland?

Good news: for almost every RV you'll rent in Leisure World, a regular driver's license is all you need. The Maryland MVA only requires a non-commercial Class B license for motorhomes with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 26,000 pounds, and the vast majority of Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers on RVezy come in well under that. RVezy also requires renters to be at least 25 years old, and your ID is verified through the RVezy platform during booking. Visiting from abroad? Pick up an International Driving Permit from your home auto club before flying into BWI or Dulles and you're set.

Is RV rental insurance and roadside assistance included for trips from Leisure World?

Every booking on RVezy includes a protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can pull out of Leisure World with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers most damage to the vehicle during your trip, and you choose the coverage level that fits your trip during checkout (hosts don't pick this, you do). If a tire blows on I-495, the battery dies near Great Falls Park, or you need a tow on US-29, one phone call gets help dispatched any time of day. It's substantial financial protection designed specifically for peer-to-peer RV rentals, and one less worry on your Maryland RV trip.

What if I need to cancel my Leisure World RV rental?

Booking is low-risk: RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy, and there's a grace-period window after booking where you can get a full refund as long as your trip is still far enough out. That means you can lock in a great rig for your Leisure World RV trip now and refine your plans later. If a host cancels, RVezy refunds guests or provides travel credits, and additional protections apply for qualifying disruptions. Full details are on the RVezy Help Center, but the takeaway is simple: book early to get the best motorhome rental in Leisure World, and you're covered if plans shift.

Can I bring my dog on a Leisure World RV rental?

Absolutely, plenty of pet-friendly RV rentals in Leisure World are ready to welcome your pup. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see only listings where the host allows dogs (some allow cats and other pets too, just message to confirm). Once you're rolling, Montgomery County is a dog lover's dream: Rock Creek Regional Park has miles of leashed trails, Cabin John Regional Park has a fenced dog park, and Little Bennett Regional Park welcomes leashed pets at its campsites and yurts. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl, because summer humidity around the Washington DC suburbs hits dogs hard, even on shaded trails.

Can the RV be delivered to me in Leisure World?

Yes, RV delivery in Leisure World is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you're nervous about driving a big rig through the Capital Beltway. Many hosts will bring the RV directly to your campground, driveway, or a nearby park, set it up, level it, hook up utilities, and walk you through every system before they leave. That makes it perfect for anyone first time renting an RV. Popular drop-off spots include Little Bennett Campground in Clarksburg, Cherry Hill Park in College Park, and family driveways across Silver Spring and Aspen Hill. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts near Leisure World who offer this, with the delivery fee shown upfront.

How does mileage work, and how far can I realistically drive on a Leisure World RV trip?

Most hosts on RVezy include a generous daily mileage allowance, and a good number offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is gold for a road trip from Leisure World. You'll see each host's mileage policy right on the listing, along with the cost per extra mile if you go over. From Leisure World, you're perfectly placed for short hops or longer hauls: Harpers Ferry is about 50 miles west, Assateague Island National Seashore sits roughly 145 miles east, Shenandoah National Park is around 95 miles southwest, and Gettysburg is just 60 miles north. Pro tip: estimate your route in Google Maps first, then filter for hosts whose mileage cap matches your plan.

Where are the best campgrounds near Leisure World, MD?

You've got excellent campgrounds within an easy drive of Leisure World. Cherry Hill Park in College Park (about 15 miles south at 9800 Cherry Hill Rd) is one of the closest full-hookup RV parks to Washington DC and offers a shuttle into the city, pools, and a splash park. Little Bennett Campground in Clarksburg (around 20 miles north) has 91 wooded sites with electric hookups inside 3,700 acres of Montgomery Parks land. Greenbelt Park, run by the National Park Service about 18 miles southeast, is a peaceful, budget-friendly option. For RV camping near Leisure World, Ramblin Pines near Woodbine adds a pool and mini-golf about 30 miles north. Book Little Bennett early, it fills fast on summer weekends.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Leisure World?

April through early June and September through late October are the sweet spots for an RV trip from Leisure World. Spring brings the famous cherry blossoms in DC (peak bloom usually late March to early April) and temperatures in the 60s and 70s, while fall delivers crisp Appalachian foliage and highs in the 60s with low humidity. July and August routinely hit the upper 80s to mid-90s with intense humidity around the Potomac, so you'll want a rig with strong air conditioning. Winters are mild but variable, with average January highs near 42 F and occasional snow. Local insider tip: book the third weekend of October for Sugarloaf Mountain leaf-peeping, about 25 miles northwest.

I've never driven an RV before. How does pickup and orientation work?

You're not going to be tossed the keys and left to figure it out. Every RVezy host does an in-person walkthrough at pickup that covers driving the rig, leveling it, hooking up water and electric, dumping tanks, the propane system, the awning, and the generator if it has one. Many first-time renters in the Leisure World area choose a Class C motorhome or a smaller campervan rental in Leisure World because they drive much like a large van. You can also message your host before booking with any questions. Pro tip: do your first night somewhere close like Little Bennett Campground, just 25 minutes north, so you can practice systems before heading farther afield.

What happens if something goes wrong with the RV on my trip?

You're covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on I-270, a dead battery at Greenbelt Park, or a lockout at a rest stop is one quick call away from help. Your host is also your direct line for questions about how something in the RV works, and RVezy's customer support team is reachable before, during, and after your trip. Maryland State Police patrol the major routes around Leisure World, and full-service RV repair shops in Gaithersburg and Rockville can help with bigger issues. Save the roadside number to your phone before pickup and breathe easy.

Can I take my Leisure World RV rental to Canada, or across state lines?

Interstate travel is the whole point, so yes, you can take your RV across state lines from Leisure World. Popular RV road trip from Leisure World routes include heading west into West Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley, south to Virginia Beach, or up the coast through Delaware to Cape May. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the insurance, so message the host directly from the listing before booking if you're planning a Canadian leg. One firm rule: travel to Mexico isn't permitted on RVezy rentals because the protection plan doesn't cover it. Pro tip: ask the host about E-ZPass, since most Mid-Atlantic toll roads use it.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validity

What should I budget for fuel on a Leisure World RV trip?

Fuel is usually the second-biggest line item after the rental itself, so it's worth budgeting smartly. Around Leisure World, expect Class C motorhomes to get roughly 8 to 12 miles per gallon, campervans 16 to 22 mpg, and a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer about 10 to 14 mpg. Maryland's average gas price hovers near the national average, and you'll generally find cheaper diesel and gas at the Costco in Gaithersburg or the Wawa stations along Georgia Avenue compared to right off the Beltway. For a 300-mile weekend loop to Shenandoah and back in a Class C, plan on roughly $130 to $180 in fuel. Tip: fill up before crossing into DC, where prices jump.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book a campground for my Leisure World RV trip?

Book sooner rather than later, especially for cherry blossom season and fall weekends. Maryland State Parks and Montgomery Parks campgrounds (like Little Bennett) open reservations up to one year in advance through their official reservation system, and the prime weekend sites at Greenbrier, Cunningham Falls, and Assateague routinely sell out months ahead. Cherry Hill Park in College Park books directly through its website and stays full during University of Maryland graduation, July 4th, and Cherry Blossom Festival. For National Park Service campgrounds like Greenbelt Park, use Recreation.gov six months out. Pro tip: midweek nights at the best campgrounds near Leisure World usually have availability even in peak season, so flex your dates if you can.
recreation.gov/

What are the driving conditions like around Leisure World?

Leisure World sits just inside the Capital Beltway corridor, so a little planning makes RV driving easy. Rush hour on I-495 and I-270 (roughly 6:30 to 9:30 am and 3:30 to 7:00 pm weekdays) is when you want to avoid driving a motorhome, period. Outside those windows, MD-200 (the InterCounty Connector) is a smooth, less-trafficked toll route east-west. Watch for the Connecticut Avenue underpass at the Beltway (15 ft 4 in clearance) and other low bridges in DC proper, since most Class A and Class C rigs are 11 to 13 feet tall. Local insider tip: head north on Georgia Avenue or New Hampshire Avenue to escape into rural Montgomery County in under 30 minutes, no Beltway needed.
roads.maryland.gov/

What amenities do campgrounds near Leisure World offer, and where can I dump tanks or fill water?

Campgrounds near Leisure World run the full range from rustic to resort. Cherry Hill Park offers full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50-amp electric), cable TV, WiFi, two pools, and a dump station. Little Bennett Campground has full-hookup pull-through sites, hot showers, a camp store, and a dump station near the entrance. Greenbelt Park offers electric and water at select sites with a centralized dump station. For dumping or filling between campgrounds, the Flying J in Jessup (about 20 miles east) has full RV service lanes, and most KOA properties allow non-guest dump-and-fill for a small fee. Pro tip: top off fresh water before you leave, since some Montgomery Parks spigots get turned off in shoulder season.

What's inside the RVs available to rent in Leisure World?

RVs on RVezy come fully equipped to feel like home on wheels. Expect a real bed (often a queen), a kitchen with a stove, fridge, sink, and microwave, a bathroom with a toilet and shower, dining seating, and seatbelted travel seats for everyone on board. Most listings include heating and air conditioning (a must for humid Maryland summers), and many include extras like a flat-screen TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and a generator. Some campervan and Class B options around Leisure World are more compact, while Class C and travel trailers offer more space for a family RV trip in Leisure World. Each listing's photos and amenity list show exactly what's included so there are no surprises at pickup.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Leisure%20World%2C%20Maryland

What add-ons and features can I get with my RV rental in Leisure World?

Hosts offer a great range of add-ons to customize your trip when you rent an RV in Leisure World. Common options include linen and towel packages, fully stocked kitchen kits, camping chairs, outdoor grills, generators, bike racks, kayaks, and pet packages. Delivery and setup is a popular add-on too, with fees usually based on distance from the host's home base in Silver Spring, Olney, or Aspen Hill. Pickup and dropoff is typically at the host's address, but plenty offer meet-ups at Shady Grove Metro or local campgrounds. Mileage policies vary by listing, so look for RV rental with unlimited mileage if you're planning a big loop down to Virginia Beach or out to Deep Creek Lake.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is straightforward and fully online: you book and pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card, never directly to the host, which keeps everything tracked and protected. A security deposit is held separately from your booking payment around the start of the trip and released after the RV is returned in the same condition. The exact amount varies by listing and is shown clearly on the booking page before you confirm. To avoid issues, do a quick walkaround video with your host at pickup and again at drop-off, and report anything unusual right away through the RVezy app. That 60-second habit is the single best way to ensure a smooth refund on your Leisure World RV rental.
