Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Woodbine, NJ

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Woodbine, NJ?

RV rental in Woodbine is affordable compared to renting closer to the Jersey Shore boardwalks. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes usually run $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A coaches can reach $300 or more in peak summer. To find a cheap RV rental in Woodbine, book midweek (Sunday through Thursday), aim for May or September shoulder season, and sort listings by lowest nightly rate. Many Woodbine hosts also offer weekly discounts of 10 to 20 percent, so a 5 night Cape May County trip can lower your average nightly cost significantly.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Woodbine, NJ?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Woodbine. New Jersey does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for motorhomes or travel trailers used for personal recreation. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older with a valid license, and ID verification happens directly through the platform during booking, so there is no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from outside the US? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home country license. Most first-time renters are surprised how straightforward the process is, even for a 30-foot Class C.

Is insurance included with my Woodbine RV rental?

Every RV rental in Woodbine booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the Garden State Parkway with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers most damages to the vehicle during your trip, and you can choose from different coverage levels at checkout based on how much financial protection you want. This is designed specifically for peer-to-peer RV rentals and gives you backup if something unexpected happens. Pick your protection level before you confirm the booking, and screenshot the coverage summary so you have it handy at pickup.

What if I need to cancel my Woodbine RV trip?

Booking an RV rental in Woodbine is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not the individual host), and there is a money-back grace period right after you book in case your plans change quickly. After that window, refunds depend on how far out from your trip you cancel. If a host cancels, RVezy issues you a refund or travel credit. You will see the full policy details during checkout and in your booking confirmation. If a tropical storm is forecast for the Jersey Shore, reach out to RVezy support early so they can walk you through your options before your pickup date.

Can I bring my dog on a Woodbine RV rental?

Yes, pet-friendly RV rental in Woodbine is easy to find on RVezy. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page and you will see motorhomes and trailers from hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats). Cape May County is one of the most dog-friendly corners of New Jersey, with leash-friendly trails at Belleplain State Forest just minutes from Woodbine, and dog-permitted beaches in nearby Cape May and Wildwood during the off-season. Message the host before booking to confirm any breed or size limits, and ask if they offer a pet add-on like a portable crate or outdoor tie-out for campsite use.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Woodbine?

Yes, RV delivery in Woodbine is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters who would rather not drive a 28-foot motorhome down Route 550. Many local hosts will deliver and set up your rental directly at Belleplain State Forest, Beachcomber Camping Resort, or Driftwood Camping Resort, then walk you through every system before they leave. Use the Delivery filter when you search, and check each listing for the delivery radius and per-mile fee. Ask your host to include a full setup (leveling, hookups, awning out) so your motorhome rental in Woodbine is trip-ready when you arrive.

How far can I drive on a Woodbine RV trip?

Plenty far, because Woodbine sits in a sweet spot of southern New Jersey with quick access to major destinations. From Woodbine it is about 20 minutes to Cape May, 25 minutes to Ocean City, 40 minutes to Atlantic City, 90 minutes to Philadelphia, and roughly 2.5 hours to New York City. Each RVezy listing sets its own mileage policy, and some hosts even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for a longer RV road trip from Woodbine up the coast or out to the Pine Barrens. Filter listings by mileage included and calculate your estimated route mileage before booking so you avoid overage fees.

Where are the best campgrounds near Woodbine, NJ?

You have great options when it comes to RV camping in Woodbine. Belleplain State Forest is the local favorite, with wooded sites, swimming at Lake Nummy, and trails right in Woodbine itself. Beachcomber Camping Resort in nearby Cape May Court House offers full hookups, pools, and a quick drive to the beach. Driftwood Camping Resort in Clermont is another full-hookup option with family activities. Avalon Campground and Big Timber Lake RV Camping Resort round out the top picks within 15 miles. When is the best time of year for an RV trip in Woodbine?

Late May through mid-October is prime time for RV camping in Woodbine, with daytime highs ranging from the upper 60s in May and October to the mid-80s in July and August, and comfortable nights ideal for campfires. June and September are the local sweet spot: warm Atlantic ocean water, fewer Shore crowds, and lower campground rates. Winter rentals are quieter but still doable, with Belleplain open year-round and daytime temperatures usually in the 40s. Visit in early September for the post-Labor Day calm: the Wildwoods beaches empty out, Cape May's Victorian district stays lively, and your RV rental in New Jersey will cost noticeably less than peak July pricing.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay in Woodbine?

You will be more than okay. First time renting an RV in Woodbine is genuinely one of the easiest places to start. South Jersey roads are flat, well-marked, and most routes to the Shore avoid steep grades or tight mountain passes. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering the generator, slide-outs, water, propane, and waste systems, and you can message them anytime during your trip with questions. If you would rather skip driving entirely, choose a host who delivers. Start with a smaller Class C or travel trailer under 25 feet for your first Woodbine RV trip, then graduate to a Class A once you are confident behind the wheel.

What happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?

You are covered. Every RVezy booking in Woodbine includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on the Garden State Parkway or a dead battery at Belleplain State Forest is just a phone call away from being handled. The roadside team can dispatch tire service, jump-starts, fuel delivery, lockout help, and towing to the nearest qualified repair shop. Your host is also a great first resource for anything quirky about their specific RV. Save the RVezy roadside number and your host's contact info to your phone before you leave the pickup location, and snap a photo of the VIN in case you need it.

Can I take a Woodbine RV rental into other states or Canada?

Yes, interstate travel is doable, and a Woodbine launch point is ideal for it. From here you can roll into Delaware via the Cape May to Lewes Ferry, drive south through Maryland to Assateague Island (about 3 hours), head up to the Catskills in New York (3.5 hours), or push north into New England over a longer trip. Canada travel may be allowed on some listings depending on the host and the protection plan, so confirm directly with your host through the listing before booking a cross-border itinerary. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental. The Cape May to Lewes Ferry accepts RVs and is a scenic shortcut south.

How much will fuel cost on my Woodbine RV trip?

Fuel is one of the more predictable costs of a Woodbine RV trip. Expect 8 to 10 miles per gallon for a Class A, 10 to 14 MPG for a Class C, and 12 to 18 MPG for a campervan rental in Woodbine or smaller travel trailer setup. New Jersey gas prices typically sit near the national average, and attendants pump your gas for you in New Jersey, it is the law. A typical 200-mile round trip exploring Cape May, Wildwood, and Ocean City in a Class C will run roughly $60 to $90 in fuel. Fill up in Woodbine or Dennisville before heading into Cape May, where station prices climb during peak Shore season.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Woodbine?

For summer weekends in Cape May County, book your campground as soon as your reservation window opens, which is up to 4 months ahead for New Jersey State Parks like Belleplain State Forest through the state park reservation system. Private parks like Beachcomber and Driftwood often allow bookings 12 months out and fill up fast for July 4th, the Wildwoods Baby Parade week, and Labor Day. Midweek and shoulder season sites are usually available within a few weeks of your trip. If Belleplain is full, check Bass River State Forest or Atsion Recreation Area in the Pine Barrens, both within a 45-minute drive of Woodbine and often overlooked.

What are the local driving conditions like around Woodbine?

Woodbine is one of the easier places in the Northeast to drive an RV. The roads are flat, traffic is light outside the immediate Shore towns, and Route 550, Route 47, and the Garden State Parkway all handle big rigs comfortably. The main thing to watch is summer Saturday traffic heading to and from the Wildwoods and Cape May, especially on the Parkway between Exits 0 and 25. Also keep an eye out for low-clearance bridges in older Shore towns like Cape May. Drive to the beach early (before 9 a.m.) or late afternoon to dodge the heaviest weekend congestion, and use Route 9 as a slower-but-scenic Parkway alternative.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Woodbine?

Cape May County campgrounds are well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Belleplain State Forest offers potable water spigots, a centralized dump station, flush toilets, hot showers, and a mix of electric and non-electric sites. Private parks like Beachcomber Camping Resort, Driftwood, and Big Timber Lake typically include full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50 amp electric), Wi-Fi, pools, camp stores, and laundry. Most parks also have propane refill on site or nearby in Cape May Court House. Pro tip: top off fresh water and dump your tanks before leaving any campground, because finding a public dump station along the Garden State Parkway corridor isn't always convenient once you're rolling.

What's actually inside the RVs available in Woodbine?

You will get more comfort than you expect. Most Woodbine RV rentals come fully equipped with a queen or king bed, bunk options for kids, a kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with shower and toilet, air conditioning, heat, and seatbelted seating for everyone traveling. Many listings also include a TV, outdoor awning, Bluetooth stereo, and an onboard generator for off-grid power. Campervan rentals in Woodbine are more compact but still include sleeping, a kitchenette, and often a portable toilet. Check each listing's amenities section for Wi-Fi hotspot, outdoor speakers, and beach gear like chairs and umbrellas, which several Cape May County hosts include free for Shore trips.

What add-ons and pickup options do Woodbine hosts offer?

Woodbine hosts make customizing your trip easy. Popular add-ons include bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, outdoor furniture, bikes, kayaks, beach gear, portable grills, generators, and pet packages, typically priced from around $10 to $75 each depending on the item. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Woodbine, Dennisville, or Cape May Court House, with delivery available to most Cape May County campgrounds for a per-mile fee. Mileage policies vary: some listings include 100 free miles per night, others offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, ideal for a longer New Jersey RV road trip. Bundle the linen and kitchen kits if it is your first rental, you will save a packing headache and arrive ready to enjoy the beach.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is simple and secure through the RVezy platform. You pay your rental total (nightly rate, fees, chosen protection plan, and any add-ons) by credit or debit card when you book, with no cash changing hands at pickup. A refundable security deposit is held on your card before your trip starts, separate from your booking payment, to cover potential incidentals like minor damage, excess mileage, or returning the RV without refueling. Once the host confirms the rig came back in good shape, your deposit is released. Take date-stamped photos and a short walkaround video of the RV at both pickup and dropoff in Woodbine, it is the easiest way to avoid any deposit disputes.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

What are the best road trip destinations from Woodbine?

An RV road trip from Woodbine puts some of the East Coast's best spots within easy reach. Cape May (20 minutes) offers Victorian charm and the Cape May Lighthouse. Wildwood (25 minutes) is famous for its wide free beaches and retro doo-wop motels. Atlantic City (40 minutes) brings the boardwalk and casinos. Push 90 minutes northwest and you are in Philadelphia for history and cheesesteaks. Go about 3 hours south and you will hit Assateague Island in Maryland with its wild ponies. For a classic family RV trip in Woodbine, plan a loop: two nights at Belleplain, two nights at a Shore park near Wildwood, and a day trip on the Cape May to Lewes Ferry for a quick Delaware detour.
