We had an amazing experience renting this camper van for the weekend! The van was clean, comfortable, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. It easily carried all of our gear, including a cooler and fishing poles, with plenty of room to spare. It truly had all the comforts of home—and more. From the kitchen essentials to the camping accessories, everything was provided, making our trip easy and enjoyable. Mark, the owner, was fantastic to work with. He took the time to thoroughly show us how to operate the van and explained all of its features and accessories before we left. His attention to detail and willingness to answer our questions made us feel confident and well prepared for our trip. We couldn’t have asked for a better rental experience. If you’re looking for a well-equipped camper van and an owner who genuinely cares about his renters, we highly recommend renting from Mark. We would definitely rent from him again!

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Jericho, NY?

Good news: a regular New York State driver's license (or any valid US/Canadian license) is all you need to rent an RV in Jericho. No CDL, no special endorsement, no RV-specific certification required for any motorhome or travel trailer on the RVezy platform. You'll need to be 25 or older, and you'll confirm your ID through the RVezy app during booking, which only takes a few minutes. Visiting from overseas? Pick up an International Driving Permit from your home auto club before you fly in (usually under $20) and pair it with your home license. Most first-time renters are surprised at how straightforward the process is, even for a 30-foot Class C.

What protection is included with my Jericho RV rental?

Every RV rental in Jericho, NY booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the Long Island Expressway with peace of mind from the moment you pull away. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level (not the host) during checkout, picking the option that fits how adventurously you plan to travel. That means a flat tire on the Northern State Parkway or a minor scrape backing into Battle Row Campground won't derail your trip or your budget. You can review the full coverage details on the RVezy insurance and protection page before booking.

What if I need to cancel my Jericho RV rental?

Life happens, and RVezy makes it low-risk to book your Long Island RV trip. RVezy (not the host) sets the cancellation policy, which includes a grace-period window after booking where you can get a full refund, plus tiered refund options depending on how far out you cancel. You won't see different policies on different listings because it's a unified RVezy process. If a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or provides travel credits so you're never left stranded. The takeaway: you can lock in that summer Montauk getaway today without feeling trapped if your plans shift. Reach out to RVezy support anytime, before, during, or after your trip, and they'll walk you through your options.

Yes, RV delivery in Jericho is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer if you're a first-time renter nervous about navigating the Long Island Expressway in a 28-foot motorhome. When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Jericho, NY?

Late May through mid-October is prime time for RV camping in Jericho and across Long Island, with daytime highs ranging from comfortable 70s in spring and fall to the mid-80s in July and August. June and September are the sweet spot: warm beach weather, fewer crowds, and lower campground rates than peak summer. Fall foliage from mid-October into early November turns the North Shore stunning, especially around Caumsett and Planting Fields Arboretum. Winter (December to February) gets cold (highs in the 30s and 40s) and most state park campgrounds close, though year-round spots like Indian Island let you extend your season. Insider tip: avoid getaway Friday afternoons on the LIE in July, traffic to the Hamptons is legendary.

I've never rented an RV before. Is Jericho a good place to start?

Jericho is a fantastic spot for a first time renting an RV. Your host will give you a thorough walkthrough at pickup (or delivery), covering everything from leveling jacks to the propane stove to dumping the tanks, so you'll never feel left to figure things out alone. You can also message your host directly through RVezy before booking with any questions, and 24/7 roadside assistance is just a phone call away. For your first drive, stick to wider local roads like Jericho Turnpike or Route 110 to get comfortable before tackling the parkways (note: most Long Island parkways prohibit RVs, so stick to the LIE/I-495). Booking a delivery option for trip one removes nearly all the stress.

Save both numbers in your phone before pickup. Pro tip: do a quick walk-around with your host during orientation, ask where the spare tire, fuses, and water shut-off are, and you'll handle most small hiccups yourself.

Yes, most Jericho RV rentals are great for an interstate or even cross-border road trip, just confirm with your host through the RVezy messaging system before booking, since some owners limit travel range. Popular RV road trip from Jericho routes include New England (Newport, Cape Cod, Acadia National Park), the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania (about 2 hours), the Finger Lakes (5 hours upstate), and even Niagara Falls (7 hours). Cross-border trips into Canada are allowed by many hosts with proper documentation; insurance coverage may extend, so confirm in advance. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance doesn't extend there. With Jericho's location, you're perfectly positioned for an epic Northeast loop.

What kind of fuel mileage and budget should I plan for?

Realistic budgeting makes your Jericho RV trip stress-free. Class B campervans average 18-22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get 8-12 MPG, and larger Class A rigs land around 6-10 MPG. Travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle but typically drop its MPG by 25-40%. Long Island gas prices tend to run higher than the national average (often $3.50-$4.00+ per gallon for regular), so fill up off-island when possible, stations near the Pennsylvania border are noticeably cheaper. For a typical 4-day, 300-mile trip in a Class C, budget around $150-$220 in fuel. Pro tip: many Jericho hosts list propane and generator fuel policies right on the listing, so you can plan your full trip cost before you ever click Book.

How far in advance should I book a campground from Jericho?

For Long Island state park campgrounds, book the moment the 9-month reservation window opens on ReserveAmerica, which is the official NY State Parks reservation system. Hither Hills, Wildwood, and Heckscher State Park sell out for summer weekends within minutes. Nassau and Suffolk county parks like Battle Row and Nickerson Beach require a county leisure pass and have their own phone-in booking systems, so call early in the year for July and August. For private campgrounds and KOA-style parks, 2-3 months ahead is usually plenty outside of holiday weekends. Insider tip: weeknight stays at even the most popular parks often have last-minute openings, perfect for a spontaneous family RV trip Jericho families love.

What are driving conditions like around Jericho, NY?

Jericho sits right at the crossroads of the Long Island Expressway (I-495) and the Northern State Parkway, giving you fast access in every direction, but here's the critical rule: RVs, trucks, and trailers are prohibited on all Long Island parkways (Northern State, Southern State, Meadowbrook, Wantagh, and others) due to low bridge clearances, some as low as 7 feet 7 inches. Stick to the LIE, Jericho Turnpike (Route 25), Route 25A, and Sunrise Highway (Route 27). Traffic peaks Friday afternoons heading east toward the Hamptons and Sunday evenings heading west, so plan around those windows. Pro tip: download a truck-specific GPS app like CoPilot or Garmin RV before your trip, and you'll never accidentally route under a parkway overpass.

What amenities can I expect at Long Island campgrounds?

Most campgrounds near Jericho offer the essentials and then some. State parks like Wildwood and Heckscher typically have electric hookups (20/30/50 amp), potable water fill stations, hot showers, flush toilets, and centralized dump stations, though full hookups at individual sites are less common in NY state parks than in private parks. Battle Row Campground has electric and water at sites plus a dump station. Nickerson Beach offers full hookups at most RV sites with beach access just steps away. Where to park an RV in Jericho is usually a private host's driveway for pickup, then off you go. Pro tip: top off fresh water and dump tanks before leaving the campground; the next dump station could be 30+ miles away.
