We had an amazing experience renting this camper van for the weekend! The van was clean, comfortable, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. It easily carried all of our gear, including a cooler and fishing poles, with plenty of room to spare. It truly had all the comforts of home—and more. From the kitchen essentials to the camping accessories, everything was provided, making our trip easy and enjoyable. Mark, the owner, was fantastic to work with. He took the time to thoroughly show us how to operate the van and explained all of its features and accessories before we left. His attention to detail and willingness to answer our questions made us feel confident and well prepared for our trip. We couldn’t have asked for a better rental experience. If you’re looking for a well-equipped camper van and an owner who genuinely cares about his renters, we highly recommend renting from Mark. We would definitely rent from him again!

Is my Plainedge RV rental protected if something goes wrong?

Every RV rental in Plainedge booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can focus on your Long Island trip instead of the what-ifs. You choose your protection level at checkout (Basic, Standard, or Premium), and each plan provides coverage for physical damage to the RV along with liability coverage that meets state requirements. It is not traditional personal auto insurance, but it provides substantial financial protection for renters during the trip. What if I need to cancel my Plainedge RV rental?

Booking is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and the terms are shown clearly at checkout before you confirm. If a hurricane, nor'easter, or other major event affects the New York coast around your travel dates, RVezy's support team works with you directly to find a solution. Review the full policy on RVezy before you confirm and reserve with confidence.

When is the best time for an RV trip from Plainedge?

Late May through early October is prime time for a Plainedge RV trip, with summer highs around 82 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit and warm Atlantic beach water by July. Can I drive my Plainedge RV rental into Canada or other states?

Yes, interstate travel is fully allowed, and many guests use a Plainedge base to road-trip through New England, Pennsylvania, or down to the Outer Banks. Cross-border trips to Canada (Niagara Falls, Montreal, Toronto) are sometimes allowed but depend on the individual host and insurance terms, so message the host before booking to confirm. Popular routes from Plainedge include the Maine coast (8 hours), Acadia National Park, the White Mountains in New Hampshire, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Just confirm your mileage allowance and any cross-border paperwork with your host first.

Travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Nassau County's Battle Row Campground (closest to Plainedge) and Suffolk County parks like Cedar Point use their own reservation systems and tend to book 3 to 6 months ahead for summer. Shoulder season (May, September, October) sites are much easier to grab 2 to 4 weeks out. Insider tip: weekday arrivals and Sunday-to-Thursday stays open up sites that look fully booked on weekends.

What are Long Island driving conditions like in an RV?

Here's the most important Plainedge driving fact: Long Island's parkways (Southern State, Northern State, Meadowbrook, Wantagh, Sunrise west of exit 44) ban commercial vehicles and have low-clearance bridges, some as low as 7 feet 7 inches. Stick to the Long Island Expressway (I-495), Sunrise Highway east of Patchogue, and Route 27 for RV travel. Traffic is heaviest Friday afternoons heading east toward the Hamptons and Sunday afternoons heading west. Summer weekends can double drive times. Pro tip: leave Plainedge before 7 AM or after 7 PM to skip the worst of it, and use the 511NY app for real-time traffic. Avoid the parkways and you'll be fine.
dot.ny.gov/main/business-center/engineering/cadd-info/drawings/standard-sheets-(us)-view/clearance-on-parkways

What amenities will I find at Long Island campgrounds?

Long Island campgrounds are well-equipped and easy for first-timers. Battle Row in Old Bethpage offers full hookups (water, electric, sewer), a dump station, restrooms, and showers. Most New York State Parks like Heckscher and Wildwood provide electric and water hookups at premium sites, central dump stations, potable water fill-up taps, hot showers, and laundry. Hither Hills in Montauk has beach access right from your site. Cell service is solid across Nassau and Suffolk, and most parks have at least basic Wi-Fi near the office. Insider tip: if your site doesn't have sewer, the dump station is usually near the campground exit, so empty tanks on your way out.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is simple and secure through the RVezy platform. You pay your trip total (rental, fees, add-ons, and protection plan) at booking using a credit or debit card, never directly to the host. A refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card a few days before pickup and released after the trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good condition. The deposit amount is shown on each listing and is separate from your booking payment. Pro tip: do a thorough walkaround with your host at pickup and dropoff and take time-stamped photos and videos, and you will almost always get your full deposit back within a few days of returning to Plainedge.
