What kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Wappingers Falls?

Fuel is easier to budget than most people think. With New York gas prices typically around $3.40 to $3.80 per gallon in the Hudson Valley (diesel slightly higher), a 300-mile weekend loop from Wappingers Falls to the Catskills and back runs roughly $80 to $130 in a Class C. Costco in nearby Poughkeepsie often has the cheapest fuel in Dutchess County.

For summer weekends and fall foliage season, book as early as you can, ideally 4 to 9 months out. New York State Parks like Clarence Fahnestock and Mills Norrie use the ReserveAmerica system and open reservations 9 months in advance to the day; popular sites for July, August, and the Columbus Day weekend (peak foliage) often sell out within hours. Private parks like Interlake RV Park in Rhinebeck book up 2 to 4 months ahead for weekends. Weekday stays and shoulder season (May, late September) are much easier. Local insider tip: set a calendar reminder for exactly 9 months before your target Saturday and log in at 7 a.m. Eastern when the booking window opens.
