Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Felton, PA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Felton, PA?
RV rental in Felton is one of the most affordable ways to explore York County and south-central Pennsylvania. Expect nightly rates roughly between $95 and $185 for travel trailers and campervans, while larger Class A and Class C motorhomes typically run $185 to $375 per night. Because hosts set their own pricing, you can find cheap RV rental Felton options by booking midweek or traveling in the shoulder months of April, May, September, and October. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book and use the price slider on RVezy to spot the best value listings near Red Lion, Dallastown, and York within a short drive of Felton.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Felton,%20PennsylvaniaWhat kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Felton, PA?
Good news: a regular non-commercial Pennsylvania driver's license (or the equivalent from your home state or country) is all you need for virtually every RV listed on RVezy in Felton. Pennsylvania only requires a non-commercial Class A or B license if the vehicle exceeds 26,000 pounds gross vehicle weight, and the Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, and most fifth wheels available for RV rental Pennsylvania come in well under that threshold. RVezy approved drivers are generally required to be 25 or older, and ID verification is completed inside the platform during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit and you are set to roll.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs RV rental in Felton, PA protected if something goes wrong?
Yes. Every RV rental in Felton booked through RVezy automatically includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road with real peace of mind. The renter chooses the protection level during checkout (not the host), and the plan covers eligible accidental physical damage to the RV during your trip. It is not traditional auto insurance, but it is specifically built for peer-to-peer RV rentals and supports you from pickup to drop-off. Pro tip: take quick walk-around photos and a short video at pickup in Felton and again at drop-off so any claim is fast and frictionless.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Felton RV trip plans change?
Booking a Felton RV trip is lower-risk than you might think. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (it is not chosen by the individual host), and every booking includes a grace-period window right after you reserve where you can cancel for a full refund of the rental amount. After that window, refund amounts depend on how far out from your trip start date you cancel. You will see the exact terms applied to your booking during checkout and inside your RVezy account. Pro tip: lock in the dates you want now to secure the rig, then finalize your campground reservations once your plans firm up.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV rental in Felton, PA?
Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental Felton is easy to find: just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see motorhomes and travel trailers whose hosts welcome dogs. York County is a fantastic place for a furry road trip. Dogs are welcome on most trails at nearby Gifford Pinchot State Park, William Kain County Park, and along the Heritage Rail Trail County Park that runs from New Freedom through York. Bring a leash (Pennsylvania state parks require pets on a leash no longer than 6 feet) and proof of rabies vaccination. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee and to ask about their favorite dog-friendly stops.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks/find-a-park/gifford-pinchot-state-park.htmlCan the RV be delivered to me in Felton or to a nearby campground?
Yes, RV delivery Felton is one of the most popular ways to start a trip, especially if it is your first time renting an RV. Many RVezy hosts in the Felton, Red Lion, and York area will drive the motorhome or travel trailer to your home, a local campground like Otter Creek Campground or Gifford Pinchot State Park, or a relative's driveway, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. Just use the Delivery filter when searching and enter your destination address. Pro tip: delivery makes a campervan rental Felton stress-free for travelers flying into Harrisburg International (MDT) or Baltimore-Washington (BWI), since you can skip towing entirely.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Felton,%20PennsylvaniaHow far can I drive on a Felton RV rental, and what are mileage policies like?
You have real range from Felton. Most RVezy hosts include a set number of free miles per night (often 100 to 150) and charge a small per-mile fee beyond that, while some list RV rental with unlimited mileage, perfect for a longer Pennsylvania road trip. From Felton you can comfortably reach Gettysburg in about 50 minutes, Lancaster's Amish Country in 45 minutes, Hersheypark in just over an hour, Baltimore in about 1 hour 15 minutes, and Washington D.C. and Philadelphia in roughly 2 to 2.5 hours. Pro tip: map your route in advance, then filter listings by mileage allowance to match your plan and avoid surprise overage charges.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Felton,%20PennsylvaniaWhere are the best campgrounds near Felton, PA for an RV trip?
You have excellent options for RV camping Felton within an easy drive. Otter Creek Campground in Airville (about 20 minutes east) sits along the Susquehanna River with full hookup sites and shaded riverfront views. Gifford Pinchot State Park, roughly 40 minutes north near Lewisberry, offers electric sites, a 340-acre lake, and great fishing. Indian Rock Campground just outside York is a 15-minute drive and a long-time local favorite. Codorus State Park near Hanover (about 45 minutes west) has campsites overlooking Lake Marburg. Pro tip: Pennsylvania state park sites can be reserved up to 11 months in advance through the DCNR reservation system, so book early for summer weekends.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks.htmlWhen is the best time to rent an RV in Felton, PA?
Felton enjoys a genuine four-season camping window, with the sweet spot running mid-April through late October. Spring (April to May) brings 55 to 70 degree days and wildflowers along the Mason-Dixon Trail. Summer (June to August) is warm and humid with highs typically in the low to mid 80s, perfect for swimming at Codorus State Park's Lake Marburg. Fall (mid-September through October) is the local favorite, with crisp days in the 60s, fewer bugs, and brilliant foliage across the Susquehanna River hills. Winter RV rental Felton is possible too if you want a quiet getaway: just look for a four-season motorhome rental Felton with heated tanks. Pro tip: book a foliage trip 8 to 10 weeks ahead because October fills fast in York County.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never rented an RV before. Will I actually feel ready to drive it?
You will, and most first-timers in Felton are surprised how quickly it clicks. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup that walks you through driving, leveling, propane, water, holding tanks, the generator, and the awning, and they are a phone call or message away during your whole trip. The roads around Felton are first-timer friendly: PA-74 and US-30 are wide, well-maintained routes with gentle terrain. If big-rig driving still feels intimidating, choose a Class B campervan or a smaller Class C motorhome, or book a host who offers delivery. Pro tip: do a 20-minute loop around the quiet roads near Felton Borough Park before pointing toward the highway.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if I have a breakdown or issue on the road?
You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you are parked at Otter Creek Campground or pulled over on I-83 north of Felton. Roadside support covers items like tire changes, jump starts, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing to a qualified service center. Your host is also a direct line for quick questions about the RV's quirks, and RVezy customer support backs everything up. Pro tip: save the RVezy roadside number in your phone before you leave the driveway, and snap a photo of the VIN and license plate so you can share details quickly if you ever need to call.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my RV rental from Felton on a multi-state road trip or into Canada?
Yes, an RV road trip from Felton across state lines is one of the best parts of the location. You are 20 minutes from the Mason-Dixon Line, so Maryland is a quick run south, with Baltimore about 1 hour 15 minutes away and Washington D.C. just past it. New York, New Jersey, Delaware, West Virginia, and Virginia are all comfortable multi-day loops. Travel into Canada may be allowed but requires explicit host approval and confirmation that the protection coverage extends across the border, so message the host before booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: popular routes from Felton include the Blue Ridge Parkway loop and the Finger Lakes circuit through upstate New York.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for in Felton?
Budgeting fuel for your Felton RV trip is straightforward. Class B campervans typically get 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 mpg, and Class A motorhomes run 7 to 10 mpg. Travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle, usually 10 to 14 mpg while towing. Pennsylvania gas prices generally run a bit above the national average due to state fuel taxes, so plan around $3.30 to $3.90 per gallon for regular and roughly $4.00 or more for diesel. The nearest stations with RV-friendly pull-throughs are along I-83 in Shrewsbury and US-30 in York. Pro tip: apps like GasBuddy and the Pilot/Flying J app help you find the cheapest fill-ups and the easiest pull-in layouts for a motorhome rental Felton.
gasprices.aaa.com/state-gas-price-averages/How far in advance should I book a campground near Felton?
Booking ahead is the single biggest win for a smooth trip. Pennsylvania state park campgrounds like Gifford Pinchot, Codorus, and Susquehannock open reservations 11 months in advance through the DCNR Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system, and prime summer weekends and the entire month of October sell out months early. Private parks like Indian Rock Campgrounds, Otter Creek Campground, and Pinch Pond Family Campground also fill quickly for holiday weekends. Aim for 3-6 months ahead for summer Saturdays and at least 2 months ahead for fall foliage stays. Pro tip: midweek availability is usually wide open even in peak season, so a Tuesday-to-Thursday Felton RV trip is the insider play for spontaneous travelers.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks.htmlWhat are the local driving conditions like around Felton, PA?
Driving an RV around Felton is genuinely easy compared to most East Coast destinations. The area is gently rolling farmland with quiet two-lane roads like PA-24, PA-74, and PA-425 connecting small towns. I-83 runs just west and provides a fast, RV-friendly route north to Harrisburg or south to Baltimore. Watch for occasional Amish horse-and-buggy traffic in Lancaster County to the east, and be aware that some older covered bridges in York County have low clearances (typically 9 to 11 feet) so stick to state routes in a tall rig. Pro tip: avoid I-83 between York and Harrisburg during weekday rush hour (7 to 9 am and 4 to 6 pm) and you will have a peaceful drive every time.

Campgrounds near Felton are well-equipped for a comfortable RV camping Felton experience. Private parks like Indian Rock Campground and Otter Creek Campground typically offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer hookups, cable, Wi-Fi, laundry, hot showers, and on-site dump stations. If you are boondocking, several travel centers along I-83 north of Felton offer public dump stations and fresh water. Pro tip: many York County wineries and breweries participate in Harvest Hosts, giving you free overnight parking with a tasting purchase.

You will be impressed by what is packed into a typical RV rental Felton. Even compact Class B campervan rental Felton options come with a sleeping area for 2, a small kitchen with a fridge, sink, and two-burner stove, plus a wet bath. Class C motorhomes and travel trailers sleep 4 to 8, with a full kitchen (microwave, oven, fridge/freezer), a separate bathroom with shower, a dinette, queen or king beds, air conditioning, a propane furnace, and usually a flat-screen TV. Many hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots, outdoor speakers, generators, and seatbelted seating for travel days. Pro tip: check the seatbelt count on the listing if you are planning a family RV trip Felton, since legal passenger capacity is set by seatbelts, not by how many people the RV sleeps.

Renting an RV in Felton comes with helpful add-on options that make life easier. Common extras include linen and towel kits, kitchen packages, outdoor chairs and tables, bikes, generators, propane top-offs, and sani-dump service at return, with each priced by the host on the listing page. Mileage policies range from around 100 free miles per night to fully unlimited, with overage rates set by each host on the listing. Pro tip: bundling the prep/cleaning fee and linens upfront often costs less than buying them separately mid-trip in Red Lion.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Felton,%20PennsylvaniaHow does payment work and what should I expect for the security deposit?
Payment for your RV rental in Felton is handled entirely and securely through RVezy, never in cash to the host. You pay the booking total (rental, fees, protection, and any add-ons) by credit card at checkout, and a refundable security deposit is placed as a pre-authorization hold on your card shortly before pickup. The deposit is separate from the booking payment, and as long as the RV is returned on time, clean, and undamaged, the hold is released after drop-off. Pro tip: keep all communication, payments, and trip changes inside the RVezy app so you are fully covered by the platform's protection and support.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat are the best road trip destinations from Felton, PA?
An RV road trip from Felton puts a remarkable amount of America within easy reach. Top picks include Gettysburg National Military Park (about 50 minutes) for Civil War history; Lancaster's Amish Country (about 45 minutes) for buggy rides and shoofly pie; Hersheypark and Hershey's Chocolate World (about 1 hour 10 minutes); Washington D.C. and the National Mall (about 2 hours); and Shenandoah National Park's Skyline Drive (about 3 hours) for a stunning Blue Ridge escape. The Pocono Mountains and Philadelphia are both reachable as long weekend trips too. Pro tip: line up your stops as a loop rather than out-and-back so you maximize new scenery without doubling your fuel costs on your Felton RV trip.
