Taylor was a great host and had an awesome RV. They provided a detailed overview of the RV when we picked it up and had us on the road on the family trip! The RV size and layout was perfect for our family of 5, with the bunkroom being a nice space for the kids own room. The kitchen had everything we needed and they had the small touches that made a huge difference (bag of charcoal). Thank you for a great trip!

Nicholas was excellent with communication. He gladly answered all my questions without hesitation. The camper REALLY has all you would need for camping, including hand soap, dish soap and body wash. He hooked it all up for us so when we got there all we had to do was unpack. There were 5 of us and I thought we would fit without issue, however, it was tight. But we did not spend much time in there so it was ok. I would (and likely will) definitely rent from Nicholas again. We had a great time.

Virginia gas prices generally sit near or slightly below the national average, with stations along Route 17 and George Washington Memorial Highway being convenient fill-up stops. For a 4-day local loop covering Yorktown, Williamsburg, and Jamestown (roughly 150 miles total), budget around $60 to $90 in fuel for a Class C. Fill up in Gloucester or Hayes before crossing the Coleman Bridge to often save a few cents per gallon.

How far ahead should I book a campsite near Gloucester Point?

For peak summer (Memorial Day through Labor Day) and Yorktown's July 4th celebration, book your campsite 4 to 6 months in advance, especially for waterfront sites. Virginia State Parks like York River State Park and Chippokes accept reservations up to 11 months out through ReserveVAParks.com. Private parks and Newport News Park Campground book through their own systems. Shoulder seasons (April, May, September, October) are much easier and you can often grab a site 2 to 3 weeks ahead. Weekday arrivals open up far more options even in July, plus you'll catch Yorktown's quieter charm before the weekend rush.

What are local driving conditions like around Gloucester Point?

Driving an RV around Gloucester Point is refreshingly easy. The terrain is flat coastal plain, roads are wide, and speeds on local routes like Route 17, Route 14, and George Washington Memorial Highway are moderate. The key route to plan for is the George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge connecting Gloucester Point to Yorktown over the York River, a swing-span bridge that occasionally opens for ship traffic, so build in a 10 minute buffer when crossing. Avoid driving during late-afternoon Hampton Roads commute traffic (4 to 6 PM). Hurricane season runs June through November, so check forecasts before crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. Morning departures make everything smoother.
