Campgrounds and RV parks near Port-Cartier, QC

Port-Cartier sits on the north shore of the Gulf of St. Lawrence in Quebec's Côte-Nord region, along Route 138. Most RV camping in the area is concentrated in two zones: the Sépaq-managed Réserve faunique de Port-Cartier–Sept-Îles to the north, and a string of seaside campgrounds running west along the Whale Route. The closest established option is Lac Walker - Port Cartier Reserve, a fully serviced Sépaq campground located 27 km north of Port-Cartier or 25 minutes from downtown, accessed by a gravel road off Route 138. It borders Lac Walker, officially recognized as the deepest lake in Quebec at 280 metres. Sites accept recreational vehicles under 9 metres (30 feet). About an hour southwest along the coast in Baie-Trinité, Camping Domaine Ensoleille 2000 offers seaside RV sites with views over the St. Lawrence, a sandy beach, and a mix of serviced and unserviced pads. The region is remote: services thin out quickly outside Port-Cartier and Sept-Îles, so RV travellers should plan fuel, groceries, and dump stops in advance.

Sites at the Lac Walker sector of the Réserve faunique de Port-Cartier–Sept-Îles are reserved through Sépaq, Quebec's provincial park and wildlife reserve agency. Reservations open months ahead through the Sépaq website or by phone, and prime summer weekends fill early. The more remote Lac-Arthur sector is located 123 km from Port-Cartier on a gravel road, and reservations there are made by phone. Camping Domaine Ensoleille 2000 and other private campgrounds in Baie-Trinité and along Route 138 are booked directly with the operator by phone or through their own websites. Confirm site length before booking: many sites cap RVs at 9 metres (30 feet). For peak July and August stays, book at least two to three months out.
