There was a grounding issue between the 5000W inverter and the trailer. Ryan (trailer owner) was very responsive when contacted, troubleshot the issue quickly, kept the communication during the rental period great, and was very flexible with delivery and pickup. I was very impressed with my rental experience with Ryan I would rent from him again

David was absolutely incredible to work with. He truly saved our family vacation weekend to the Dover NASCAR races, when our other RV reservation cancelled at the last minute. David was extremely prompt with his responses and was so accommodating with drop off and pick up and everything was amazing with the RV. My family and I are extremely grateful for David and our experience with RVezy.

Good rental experience with this RV and also with the host, Oscar. Had a couple of Qs during the trip, and he responded quickly. Nice little travel trailer, fully stocked. Oscar provides an anti-sway trailer hitch, which increases travel & towing safety.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Smyrna, DE
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Smyrna, DE?
RV rental in Smyrna is one of the more affordable ways to explore the Mid-Atlantic. Travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run about $175 to $275, and larger Class A rigs range from $250 to $400. Because every host on RVezy sets their own pricing, you can find cheap RV rental Smyrna options by booking midweek or during shoulder season in April or late September. To save more, filter for listings with unlimited mileage and bundle add-ons like camp chairs or bedding rather than buying them. Pro tip: Smyrna sits right on US-13, so even a 3-night Delaware beach trip stays budget-friendly on fuel.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Smyrna,%20DelawareWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Smyrna, Delaware?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Smyrna, Delaware. Delaware does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal RVs, even larger Class A motorhomes you'd drive down US-13 or Route 1. You'll need to be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and ID verification happens right inside the platform when you reserve. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP), which costs under $25 from most national auto clubs. That's it, you're cleared to roll toward Bombay Hook or the Delaware beaches.
dmv.de.gov/services/driver_services/drivers_license/dr_lic_dlinfogen.shtmlIs insurance and roadside assistance included with my Smyrna RV rental?
Yes, every RV rental in Smyrna booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Route 1 with confidence. The protection plan covers most damage to the vehicle, and you choose your level of coverage during checkout. Roadside help is included at no extra cost, so a flat tire on the way to Cape Henlopen or a dead battery at Killens Pond will not derail your trip. Pro tip: pick your protection tier based on your comfort level, higher tiers mean a lower out-of-pocket if anything happens.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Smyrna RV rental?
Booking an RV rental in Smyrna is low-risk because RVezy (not the individual host) sets the cancellation policy across the platform, applied consistently to every reservation. There is a money-back grace period right after booking, plus tiered refund options based on how far out you are from your trip start date. Because the policy is handled platform-wide, you will not see a cancellation policy displayed on individual listings. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy provides a refund or travel credit so your trip plans stay protected. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best rigs for Firefly weekend in nearby Dover, then relax knowing your reservation is flexible if plans shift.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Smyrna, DE RV rental?
Yes, pet-friendly RV rental Smyrna options are easy to find on RVezy. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page to see every host who welcomes dogs (some allow cats too). Many hosts charge a small pet cleaning fee that is clearly listed before you book. Once you are on the road, Delaware is dog-friendly: Cape Henlopen State Park allows leashed dogs on most trails and has a designated dog-friendly beach area in the off-season, and Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge welcomes leashed pups on the auto tour route. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl, Delaware summer humidity is no joke for furry passengers.
destateparks.com/PetsCan the RV be delivered to my campground or home in Smyrna?
Yes, RV delivery Smyrna is one of the easiest ways to start a stress-free trip, especially if it's your first time renting an RV. Many RVezy hosts in the Smyrna area will drive the rig to your campground, driveway, or even a state park site, set it up with leveling and hookups, and walk you through everything before handing you the keys. Just use the Delivery filter when searching. Popular delivery destinations include Killens Pond State Park (about 20 minutes south), Lums Pond (30 minutes north), and Cape Henlopen (about an hour east). Delivery fees vary by distance, and some hosts include a set number of free miles. Pro tip: delivery is gold if you're flying into Philadelphia or BWI and don't want to drive a big rig on I-95.
destateparks.com/CampingHow far can I drive from Smyrna in my RV rental?
You can go as far as the open road takes you, and Smyrna's location on US-13 and near Route 1 makes it a fantastic launchpad for a Mid-Atlantic RV trip. Most RVezy hosts offer a daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 miles per day) with extra miles available for a small per-mile fee, and you'll spot RV rental with unlimited mileage listings too. Popular trips include Rehoboth Beach (about 50 miles east), Assateague Island National Seashore (about 90 miles south), Ocean City, MD (around 85 miles), Washington, DC (about 100 miles), and Philadelphia (60 miles north). Pro tip: filter for unlimited mileage if you're planning a loop down the Delmarva Peninsula.
nps.gov/asis/planyourvisit/directions.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Smyrna, DE?
You are spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping near Smyrna. Top picks include Killens Pond State Park in Felton (about 20 miles south, with water and electric sites beside a 66-acre pond and a seasonal water park), Lums Pond State Park near Bear (about 30 miles north, Delaware's largest freshwater pond with full hookup sites available), Trap Pond State Park near Laurel (home to the northernmost natural stand of bald cypress trees in the US), Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes (near the ocean with water and electric sites), and Big Oaks Family Campground in Rehoboth Beach (private, with a pool and a short drive to the outlets). Pro tip: Delaware State Park sites can be booked up to 11 months in advance and summer weekends sell out fast.
destateparks.com/CampingWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Smyrna, DE?
Smyrna shines from late April through October, but the real sweet spot is May, June, September, and early October when daytime highs sit in the 70s to mid-80s and the brutal Delmarva humidity eases off. July and August are peak beach season with highs around 87°F and humid 90s heat indexes, so book early and expect crowds at Rehoboth and Cape Henlopen. Spring brings shorebird migrations at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge (just 10 miles east of Smyrna), and fall delivers gorgeous color along the Delaware Bay. Winters are mild but damp, with January lows around 25°F. Pro tip: shoulder-season RV rentals in Smyrna often come in 20 to 30 percent cheaper than peak July rates.
weather.gov/phi/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay starting in Smyrna?
You'll do great, and Smyrna is honestly one of the friendliest places in the Mid-Atlantic for a first time renting an RV. Roads here are flat, US-13 is wide with generous shoulders, and most popular destinations are reachable without ever getting on a steep grade or tight mountain pass. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering driving tips, hookups, slide-outs, generator, and tank dumping, and you can message them any time during your trip. If you're still nervous, start with a Class B campervan rental Smyrna or a smaller Class C, both drive a lot like a big van. Pro tip: do a short shakedown trip to Killens Pond (20 minutes south) before tackling the beach traffic on Route 1.
deldot.gov/information/travelers/index.shtmlWhat happens if my RV breaks down during my Smyrna trip?
You are never on your own. Every motorhome rental Smyrna booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so one phone call gets you a tow, tire change, jump start, lockout service, or fuel delivery wherever you are, whether you are stuck on US-13, parked at Lums Pond, or rolling down Coastal Highway toward Rehoboth. Your host is also a direct line of help for quick questions like how a slide-out works, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after every trip. Pro tip: snap a quick photo of the RV's VIN and license plate at pickup so roadside has everything they need instantly.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Smyrna RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, an RV road trip from Smyrna across state lines is not only allowed, it's encouraged. Most hosts welcome multi-state travel throughout the continental US, so you can swing down the Delmarva to Assateague Island, head up to the Pocono Mountains, or do a Washington DC and Shenandoah loop without issue. Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and insurance, so just message the host directly from the listing before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Pro tip: a classic 7-day loop from Smyrna hits Cape May NJ (via ferry), Lancaster PA Amish country, and back through Philadelphia.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goHow much should I budget for fuel on a Smyrna, DE RV trip?
Fuel is one of the easier line items to estimate for your Smyrna RV trip because Delaware gas prices typically run a few cents below the national average and the state has no sales tax on most purchases. Expect Class B campervans to get 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 MPG, Class A rigs 6 to 10 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 MPG). For a 3-day loop to Rehoboth and back (about 200 miles), a Class C will use roughly $50 to $75 in gas. Pro tip: fuel up at Wawa or Royal Farms along US-13 in Smyrna before heading to the beach, prices on Coastal Highway tend to spike in summer.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Smyrna?
Book early and you'll thank yourself, especially for summer weekends. Delaware State Parks open reservations exactly 11 months in advance through their online reservation system, and prime spots at Cape Henlopen, Killens Pond, and Lums Pond regularly sell out the day they open for Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends. For best campgrounds near Smyrna, aim for 6 to 9 months ahead for peak summer and 2 to 4 weeks ahead for spring or fall. Private parks like Big Oaks and Delaware Seashore's Indian River Marina sites also fill fast. Pro tip: if a state park is full, set up a free cancellation alert and check Tuesday mornings when other guests release sites they can no longer use.
destateparks.com/ReservationsWhat are the driving conditions like around Smyrna, DE?
Smyrna driving is RV-friendly almost everywhere you'll go. The terrain is flat (this is the Coastal Plain), US-13 and Route 1 are wide multi-lane highways, and there are no mountain passes or steep grades to worry about. The main thing to plan around is summer beach traffic: Route 1 southbound on Friday afternoons and northbound Sunday evenings between Memorial Day and Labor Day can crawl, so try to travel early morning or midday. Watch for low overpasses if you detour onto older county roads and keep an eye out for sudden afternoon thunderstorms in July and August. Pro tip: the Delaware Department of Transportation has a free 511 traffic app that shows live Route 1 backups before you hit them.
deldot.gov/information/travelers/traffic_cams/index.shtmlWhat hookups and amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Smyrna?
Most campgrounds near Smyrna offer solid amenities, though hookup levels vary so read each listing carefully. Delaware State Parks like Killens Pond and Cape Henlopen offer water and 20/30/50-amp electric on many sites, with central dump stations included. Full sewer hookups are more common at private parks like Big Oaks Family Campground in Rehoboth Beach. Most parks have potable water fill stations, hot showers, laundry, and Wi-Fi near the office. Pro tip: when you reserve, request a pull-through site if you are new to backing up, your future self will thank you after a long drive.
destateparks.com/CampingWhat's inside a typical RV rental in Smyrna, DE?
Today's RVs are basically apartments on wheels, and your Smyrna rental will likely come fully equipped: a real bed (queen or king in most Class C and Class A motorhomes), a kitchen with fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, and sink, a private bathroom with shower and toilet, dinette and sofa seating, air conditioning, furnace, and seatbelts for every traveling passenger. Most listings also include a TV, and many hosts offer Wi-Fi hotspots, outdoor speakers, and onboard generators for boondocking. Campervan rentals are more compact but still include a bed, kitchenette, and often a wet bath. Pro tip: check each listing's amenity list for must-haves like outdoor shower (perfect for sandy feet returning from Cape Henlopen) and a power awning for shade.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/rving-safetyWhat add-ons and pickup options are available for Smyrna RV rentals?
Hosts in Smyrna offer a great range of add-ons to customize your trip: bedding and linen packages ($30 to $75), camp chairs and outdoor tables, portable grills, bike racks, kayaks and paddleboards, generators, propane fills, and unlimited mileage upgrades. Many hosts also bundle a kitchen kit so you don't have to pack pots, pans, plates, and utensils. Pickup is typically at the host's location near Smyrna or along the US-13 corridor, with delivery available to nearby state parks and private campgrounds for an extra fee. Mileage policies usually range from 100 to 150 free miles per day, with overage at $0.35 to $0.50 per mile. Pro tip: bundling add-ons with one host beats running last-minute errands at the Smyrna Walmart on departure day.
visitdelaware.com/places-to-stay/camping-rv-parks/How does the security deposit and payment process work?
Payment is simple and fully handled inside RVezy, so you never exchange cash or cards directly with your host. When you book your RV rental in Smyrna, you pay the rental total by credit card, and a separate refundable security deposit (commonly $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig) is pre-authorized on your card. The deposit is held, not charged, and released back to you after your trip if there is no damage or excessive cleaning. To avoid issues, do a thorough walkaround with your host at pickup and dropoff, take time-stamped photos and video, and return the RV with the fuel and propane levels noted on your agreement. Pro tip: the same card you book with is used for the deposit hold, so do not cancel it mid-trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park an RV overnight in and around Smyrna, DE?
You have solid options for where to park an RV in Smyrna. For actual camping with hookups, head to Killens Pond, Lums Pond, or Cape Henlopen State Parks, or private parks like Big Oaks Family Campground in Rehoboth Beach. For a quick rest stop while traveling, the Smyrna Rest Area on SR-1 has a designated truck and RV lot for short rests (no camping, no slide-outs). The Biden Welcome Center on I-95 near Newark also offers a truck and RV lot for short rests with no camping. Inside Smyrna town limits, residential street parking and city lots are not suited for overnight RV stays. Pro tip: use the RVezy delivery option to skip the parking puzzle altogether, your host can drop the rig right at your campsite.
