Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Lely Resort, FL
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Lely Resort, FL?
RV rental in Lely Resort is affordable when you plan ahead. Expect travel trailers to average around $125 per night and motorhomes around $200 to $250 per night, with many Naples-area hosts offering 10 to 20 percent discounts on weekly or monthly bookings. Snowbird season (January through March) is the priciest stretch since Southwest Florida fills with winter visitors, so for a cheap RV rental in Lely Resort, target shoulder months like late April, May, or November when nightly rates often drop 20 to 30 percent. Tip: filter for Instant Book on RVezy and compare delivery fees versus pickup, since a host bringing the RV straight to Naples Motorcoach Resort or KOA Naples can save you a rental car.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lely%20Resort%2C%20FloridaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Lely Resort, FL?
Good news: a standard Florida driver's license (or any valid US or Canadian license) is all you need to rent an RV in Lely Resort. Florida does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes, travel trailers, or campervans, even big Class A coaches. You'll need to be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and ID confirmation happens right inside the platform during checkout, so there's nothing to mail or fax. Visiting from overseas? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home auto club before you fly into RSW, pair it with your home license, and you're cleared to cruise Collier Boulevard the same day you land.
flhsmv.gov/driver-licenses-id-cards/what-to-bring/Is my RV rental in Lely Resort protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, every RVezy booking in Lely Resort includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are never on your own. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level (not the host) right in the booking flow, so you can dial up peace of mind for a Tamiami Trail road trip or a week at Collier-Seminole State Park. Coverage levels and details are shown clearly before you confirm. Tip: snap a quick walk-through video at pickup, your host will appreciate it and it makes any claim straightforward.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Naples-area trip plans change?
Booking an RV rental in Lely Resort is low-risk. RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy, and the policy is not displayed on individual listings. Refund outcomes depend on how far in advance you cancel and on special circumstances. If a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or provides travel credits. Tip: book early for peak January through March snowbird season to lock in the best rigs, and review the cancellation policy in the RVezy Help Center before you confirm so you know exactly what to expect.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Lely Resort?
Yes, a pet-friendly RV rental in Lely Resort is easy to find. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you will see plenty of Naples-area rigs whose hosts welcome dogs (some allow cats too). Your pup will love the area: Naples KOA Holiday has a fenced Kamp K9, and Collier-Seminole State Park allows leashed pets in designated areas. Bonita Beach Dog Park at the north end of Bonita Beach is a popular off-leash beach option nearby. Tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and any size or breed limits, then pack a cooling mat since Florida pavement gets hot fast.
floridastateparks.org/learn/pets-florida-state-parksCan the RV be delivered to my campground or vacation rental in Lely Resort?
Yes, RV delivery in Lely Resort is one of the most popular options, and it is a game-changer if it is your first time renting an RV. Many Naples-area hosts will drive the motorhome or travel trailer straight to your site at Naples KOA Holiday, Naples Motorcoach Resort, Collier-Seminole State Park, or a private driveway in the Lely Resort community, then level it, hook up water and 30/50-amp power, and walk you through the systems. Delivery fees are set by each host and usually scale with distance. Tip: filter by Delivery on RVezy and message two or three hosts to compare, since many waive part of the fee for longer bookings.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lely%20Resort%2C%20FloridaHow far can I drive on a Lely Resort RV trip without burning through mileage?
You can cover all the South Florida classics from Lely Resort without stressing mileage. Hosts on RVezy set their own mileage policies, and many Naples-area listings include 100-150 free miles per night, with some offering RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer trips. From Lely Resort it's roughly 50 miles to Everglades National Park's Shark Valley, 20 miles to Marco Island, 40 miles to Fort Myers Beach, 110 miles east to Miami, and about 290 miles south to Key West via the Overseas Highway. Pro tip: if you're planning the full Florida Keys loop, filter for unlimited-mileage listings up front, you'll save easily $200-$400 versus paying per-mile overage on US-1.
fdot.gov/agencyresources/mapsWhere are the best campgrounds near Lely Resort for my RV?
You are spoiled for choice with RV camping near Lely Resort. Top picks within about 15 to 20 minutes: Naples KOA Holiday (full-hookup sites, pool, and Kamp K9 on Barefoot Williams Road), Naples Motorcoach Resort (luxury Class A resort with private lots off Collier Boulevard), Crystal Lake RV Resort (gated 55+ community), Club Naples RV Resort, and Collier-Seminole State Park (rustic sites tucked into mangroves on the Tamiami Trail). Tip: for snowbird season (December through March), book at least 6 months ahead, especially Collier-Seminole, which fills quickly when its 11-month booking window opens on ReserveAmerica.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/collier-seminole-state-parkWhen is the best time to rent an RV in Lely Resort, FL?
Lely Resort is a year-round destination, but the sweet spot is November through April when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 75-82°F range with low humidity and almost no rain — it's exactly why snowbirds flock here. May through October brings highs in the upper 80s and 90s with afternoon thunderstorms and the official Atlantic hurricane season (June 1-November 30). The smartest value play is late April-May or October-early November: warm Gulf water, smaller crowds, and rates often 30 percent below peak. Pro tip: if you're chasing wildlife, January-March is prime time at Big Cypress and the Everglades, with dry-season alligator viewing at its absolute best.
weather.gov/mfl/climateI've never driven an RV before. Is renting in Lely Resort a good idea for first-timers?
Lely Resort is one of the friendlier launchpads in Florida for first time renting an RV. Roads here are flat, wide, and well-marked: Collier Boulevard (CR-951) and US-41 (Tamiami Trail) are straight shots with generous lanes, and I-75 (Alligator Alley) east toward the Everglades is famously easy driving. Every RVezy host gives a hands-on orientation at pickup covering the awning, slide-outs, tanks, generator, and propane, so you're never guessing. Choose a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer for the easiest learning curve, and pick delivery if backing into a site sounds intimidating. Pro tip: avoid downtown 5th Avenue South in your rig — park nearby and Uber the last mile to dinner.
fdot.gov/safetyWhat happens if I have a breakdown during my RV trip from Lely Resort?
Help is never far away. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on Alligator Alley, a dead battery near Marco Island, or a tow off the Tamiami Trail is one phone call away. You also have your host's direct line for RV-specific questions like restarting the generator or resetting the inverter, plus RVezy support for anything in between. Cell coverage is strong throughout Collier County and along I-75, though it thins inside Big Cypress National Preserve. Tip: before you roll out of Lely Resort, save the roadside assistance number in your phone and snap a photo of your RV's VIN, it speeds any service call.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best RV road trip routes from Lely Resort?
An RV road trip from Lely Resort puts some of America's most iconic drives right at your bumper. Head east about 50 miles on US-41 through Big Cypress National Preserve toward Everglades National Park, continue roughly 280 miles down the Overseas Highway to Key West for sunset at Mallory Square, or point north about 40 miles to Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel Island for shelling. The Tamiami Trail east to Miami (around 110 miles) is a classic cruise. Cross-border note: Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals, and travel into Canada depends on the host and insurance, so message before booking. Tip: fuel up in Naples before heading into the Everglades, since gas stations between Ochopee and Florida City are sparse and pricier.
nps.gov/ever/planyourvisit/driving.htmWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?
Plan a realistic fuel budget and you'll avoid surprises. Class C motorhomes around Naples typically get 8-10 MPG, Class A coaches 6-8 MPG, campervans (Class B) 14-18 MPG, and trucks pulling travel trailers 9-12 MPG. Florida gas prices generally track close to the US average, and you'll find competitive pricing at Costco off Naples Boulevard, Sam's Club on Naples Boulevard, and Wawa stations along Collier Boulevard. A typical 5-day trip from Lely Resort to Key West and back (about 600 miles round trip) runs roughly $200-$300 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: most Naples RVs run on regular unleaded, but confirm with your host and fill up before crossing into the Keys where prices jump 30-50 cents per gallon.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campsite near Lely Resort?
Booking early is the single best move you can make. For peak season (December through April), reserve Collier-Seminole State Park the day its 11-month window opens on ReserveAmerica.com — sites disappear within hours. KOA Holiday Naples-Marco Island, Sun Retreats Naples, and Crystal Lake RV Resort generally need 3-6 months of lead time for winter, but you can often grab last-minute weekday spots in shoulder season. Everglades National Park's Long Pine Key and Flamingo campgrounds open 6 months ahead on Recreation.gov and book out fast for the dry season. Pro tip: if peak dates are sold out, look at Wednesday-to-Sunday stays — turnover is highest mid-week, and cancellations pop up daily.
recreation.gov/camping/gateways/2725What are driving conditions like around Lely Resort and Naples?
Driving an RV around Lely Resort is refreshingly straightforward. The terrain is pancake-flat with no mountain grades, lanes on Collier Boulevard and I-75 are wide, and there are zero low-clearance worries on the main routes between Lely, Marco Island, and the Everglades. The two things to watch: summer afternoon thunderstorms (June-September) that can dump an inch of rain in 30 minutes (pull over and wait it out), and seasonal traffic on US-41 through downtown Naples from January-March when snowbird volume peaks. Avoid downtown 5th Avenue South and Tin City in a big rig, and skip the Naples Pier area entirely. Pro tip: use I-75 instead of US-41 for east-west travel when possible — it's faster, less congested, and built for big vehicles.
fl511.com/What amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Lely Resort?
Naples-area campgrounds are some of the best-equipped in Florida. Expect full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50-amp electric) at private resorts like Naples Motorcoach Resort, Crystal Lake RV Resort, and Club Naples RV Resort, plus heated pools, laundry, Wi-Fi, and cable at most. Naples KOA Holiday adds a Kamp K9, propane refills, and an on-site store. Collier-Seminole State Park has electric and water hookups at most RV sites but no sewer, with a dump station near the entrance. Tip: bring a 30-to-50-amp adapter just in case, since site pedestals occasionally vary.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/collier-seminole-state-parkWhat features and amenities come standard in a Lely Resort RV rental?
Your motorhome rental in Lely Resort will feel like a hotel on wheels. Expect a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a wet bath or full bathroom with shower and toilet, a queen or king bed plus convertible sofa/dinette sleeping, roof and dash air conditioning (essential in Florida), a propane furnace, and a generator on most motorhomes for boondocking the Everglades. Many Naples-area campervan rental and Class C listings now include smart TVs, Wi-Fi hotspots, outdoor showers for rinsing Gulf sand, and seatbelts for everyone riding. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count and verify seatbelt count separately on the listing — Florida law requires every passenger riding in a motorhome to be belted in a designated seat.
flhsmv.gov/safety-center/consumer-education/seatbelt-safety/What add-ons and options can I get with my Lely Resort RV rental?
Hosts in Lely Resort make it easy to roll into your trip fully equipped. Popular add-ons include linen and kitchen packages ($50-$100), camping chairs and outdoor mats, bikes, kayaks and SUPs (perfect for Rookery Bay), generators, portable grills, and beach gear. Pickup and drop-off windows are set by each host on the listing, typically a 2-hour arrival window with a same-time return; late returns can incur fees. Mileage policies range from 100 free miles per night up to unlimited — read the listing carefully if you're planning Key West. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a linen package up front; many Naples hosts discount add-ons when you book multiple at once, saving 10-15 percent versus buying them à la carte.
colliercountyfl.gov/your-government/divisions-s-z/tourism/things-to-doHow does payment and the security deposit work when I rent an RV in Lely Resort?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy at booking with a credit or debit card, and funds are held until after your trip starts before the host is paid. A refundable security deposit is held on your card before pickup, and the exact amount is shown on the listing so there are no surprises. The deposit is released after drop-off, assuming the RV is returned in the same condition per the host's terms. Tip: do a joint walk-around video at pickup AND drop-off, return the RV clean with a full fuel and propane tank, and your deposit is typically released within a few business days.
