Carlos went out of his way to make everything work. It was an especially crowded weekend in Miami with a lot of traffic, and Carlos delivered the RV like a professional. The RV itself, is extremely accommodating. Our favorite part where the wonderful meals we had. My family really enjoyed it. Everything was as described or better. It came with bedding, and everything you need for a wonderful experience. Everything was perfectly clean, and smelled good, etc. Don't take that for granted, sometimes RVs have a little smell to them. Carlos keeps this one smelling fantastic. It was clean, it was nice, and I would highly recommend.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Oakland Park, FL

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Oakland Park, FL?

An RV rental in Oakland Park is one of the most affordable ways to experience South Florida. On RVezy, you'll typically find travel trailers starting around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes between $175 and $275, and luxury Class A rigs from $300 and up. Snowbird season (December through April) is the busiest stretch, so booking 60 to 90 days ahead helps lock in better rates. For a cheap RV rental in Oakland Park, look at smaller travel trailers or campervans during shoulder months like May or October when prices often drop. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book and look for hosts offering weekly discounts to stretch your budget further.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Oakland Park, Florida?

Good news, your regular Class E Florida driver's license (or equivalent from any US state or Canadian province) is all you need to rent an RV in Oakland Park. No commercial driver's license (CDL) or special RV endorsement is required for any RV available on RVezy, even larger Class A motorhomes. Approved drivers are generally required to be at least 25 years old, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform during booking. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) paired with your home country license. That's it, you're cleared to drive your Oakland Park RV trip.

What's included for protection and peace of mind on my RVezy rental?

You're covered from the moment you book your RV rental in Oakland Park. Every RVezy booking includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road with confidence. You choose your coverage level at checkout, with different tiers available based on how much peace of mind you want, and the plan covers eligible damage to the RV during your trip. Hosts don't pick this, you do, which keeps you in control of your coverage. Pro tip: if it's your first time renting an RV, the higher-tier plan is worth it for the lower deductible and added reassurance.

What if I need to cancel my Oakland Park RV rental?

Booking is low-risk. RVezy has a built-in cancellation policy that applies to every reservation, with a grace period after booking where you can cancel for a full refund. Refund amounts after that window depend on how far out you are from your trip start date. The policy is set by RVezy, not by individual hosts, so it's consistent across every RV rental in Oakland Park. If a host cancels on you, RVezy helps you find a replacement RV or issues a refund or travel credit. Pro tip: book early to lock in the RV you want for your Oakland Park RV trip, then finalize your campground reservations once you're confident in the dates.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Oakland Park?

Absolutely, plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental in Oakland Park, you just need to filter for Pet-Friendly on RVezy and message the host to share that you're traveling with a pup. Oakland Park itself is dog-friendly, with Jaco Pastorius Park welcoming leashed dogs and Easterlin Park allowing pets in the campground (just not on trails). Nearby, Snyder Park in Fort Lauderdale has a dedicated off-leash area, and Canine Beach (Fort Lauderdale's leash-free beach) opens to dogs Friday through Sunday. Pro tip: bring a portable shade or cooling mat, since pavement in South Florida can get hot quickly between June and September.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground or rental house?

Yes, RV delivery in Oakland Park is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you're new to RVing. Many hosts on RVezy offer to drop the RV at popular spots like Easterlin Park, Markham Park, or even a private driveway in Wilton Manors or Fort Lauderdale. They'll level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through everything before they leave. Delivery fees usually range from $2 to $5 per mile, and some hosts include free delivery within a set radius of Oakland Park. Pro tip: choose delivery if you're flying into Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), it's only 8 miles away and saves you from driving an unfamiliar rig through I-95 traffic.

How far can I drive on a typical mileage allowance from Oakland Park?

You've got plenty of room to roam. Most Oakland Park hosts include between 100 and 150 free miles per night, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage for an added daily fee, perfect for an RV road trip from Oakland Park to the Florida Keys or up the coast. Popular drives include Key Largo (about 80 miles south), Everglades National Park's Flamingo entrance (around 105 miles), Orlando (200 miles north), and Key West (160 miles south on the Overseas Highway). Extra miles typically cost $0.25 to $0.45 each. Pro tip: tally your planned route before booking and message the host to negotiate a mileage bundle, it usually beats paying overage fees later.

Where can I camp near Oakland Park with my RV?

You've got several solid options within a short drive of Oakland Park. Easterlin Park, right in Oakland Park at 1000 NW 38th Street, offers full-hookup sites under century-old cypress trees and is one of the best campgrounds near Oakland Park for families. Markham Park in Sunrise offers full-hookup sites near the Everglades, and C.B. Smith Park in Pembroke Pines features full-hookup sites with a water park onsite. For something closer to the water, Yacht Haven Park & Marina in Fort Lauderdale puts you near the Intracoastal. Pro tip: snowbirds fill Broward County parks January through March, so book at least 60 to 90 days ahead for winter dates.

When is the best time to visit Oakland Park in an RV?

The sweet spot is November through April, when Oakland Park enjoys daytime highs of 73 to 80°F, low humidity, and barely any rain. This is peak snowbird season, so book your RV early. Shoulder months like late October and May give you warm weather (mid-80s), smaller crowds, and better RV camping in Oakland Park pricing. Summer (June to September) is hot, humid, and rainy, with highs near 90°F and afternoon thunderstorms almost daily, plus it's hurricane season (officially June 1 to November 30). Pro tip: if you book a summer trip, plan morning beach time and use late afternoons for indoor stops like the NSU Art Museum or Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park.

I've never rented an RV before, how does the pickup process work?

First time renting an RV? You're in good hands. Every RVezy host in Oakland Park provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through how to operate the generator, fill the fresh water tank, dump the gray and black tanks, hook up shore power, extend slide-outs, and use the propane appliances. Most walkthroughs take 30 to 60 minutes, and you can text or call the host throughout your trip. Many hosts also send a video tutorial before pickup so you can review it later. Pro tip: pick a smaller Class C motorhome or travel trailer for your first trip, they're easier to drive than a 35-foot Class A on Florida's narrow coastal roads.
fdacs.gov/Consumer-Resources/Recreation-and-Leisure

What happens if I break down or have an issue on the road?

You're never stuck alone. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering services like tire changes, jump starts, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing. If something goes wrong, call the roadside line first, then message your host through the RVezy app so they know what's happening. The RVezy support team is also available before, during, and after every trip if you need help sorting something out. Pro tip: save the roadside number to your phone before you leave Oakland Park and snap a photo of the RV's VIN plate, it speeds things up if you need a tow on I-95 or US-1.

Can I drive my Oakland Park RV rental to other states or Canada?

Yes, interstate travel is welcomed on most RVezy rentals, an RV road trip from Oakland Park to Georgia, the Carolinas, or even up the Eastern Seaboard is totally doable. Just message the host before booking to confirm your route, since some hosts cap how far the RV can travel. Cross-border travel to Canada may be allowed with advance host approval and updated insurance documentation, so flag it early. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because protection coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: popular long-haul routes from Oakland Park include Savannah, GA (around 410 miles north) and Charleston, SC (around 525 miles), both perfect 7-to-10-day trips.

What kind of fuel mileage should I expect and how much will gas cost?

Budgeting fuel is easier than you'd think. Travel trailers and campervans get the best mileage, typically 12 to 18 mpg towed behind your vehicle or driven solo. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 mpg, and larger Class A rigs land around 6 to 10 mpg. Florida gas prices typically run a bit below the national average, hovering around $3.10 to $3.50 per gallon in the Oakland Park area. For a weeklong loop down to the Keys and back (about 320 miles round trip), expect to spend $80 to $150 on fuel in a mid-sized Class C. Pro tip: fill up at Costco or Sam's Club on Powerline Road for the cheapest gas before heading out of town.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Oakland Park?

Book sooner rather than later, especially for winter. Broward County parks like Easterlin, Markham, and C.B. Smith fill up 60 to 90 days ahead from December through April and require phone or email reservations directly with the park office (no online booking for these). Florida State Parks like Hugh Taylor Birch (8 miles south in Fort Lauderdale) and John Pennekamp Coral Reef (50 miles south in Key Largo) book through ReserveAmerica up to 11 months in advance for Florida residents and 10 months for everyone else. Pro tip: if you strike out on weekends, try mid-week arrivals, Sunday-to-Thursday stays often have last-minute openings at the best campgrounds near Oakland Park.

What are local driving conditions like in Oakland Park?

Driving an RV in Oakland Park is manageable as long as you stick to the main corridors. I-95, the Florida Turnpike, and US-1 (Federal Highway) are the easiest routes for any size rig. Avoid narrow east-west streets like NE 13th Avenue and the older neighborhoods of Wilton Manors with tight turns and low-hanging trees. Watch for the 11-foot 8-inch clearance on a few railroad underpasses near Dixie Highway, most RVs clear easily but always check your rig's height. Afternoon thunderstorms (May to October) bring sudden downpours, slow down and put the wipers on high. Pro tip: plan to drive before 3 p.m. to dodge both rush hour and storms.
fdot.gov/traffic/

What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Oakland Park?

You'll find more comforts than you'd expect for an urban area. Most campgrounds near Oakland Park, including Easterlin Park and Yacht Haven, offer full hookups with 30/50-amp electric, fresh water, and sewer at every site. Easterlin has free WiFi, hot showers, laundry, and a dump station; Markham Park adds a swimming area, observatory, and shooting range. Dump stations are available at all Broward County campgrounds for $10 to $15 if you're not staying overnight, and potable water fills are typically free. Pro tip: South Florida humidity is intense, so book a site with 50-amp service if your RV has dual air conditioners, you'll want both running on August afternoons.
broward.org/Parks/Pages/park.aspx?park=12

What features come with a typical Oakland Park RV rental?

You'll be impressed by how complete these rigs are. A typical motorhome rental in Oakland Park includes a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, microwave), a bathroom with shower and toilet, queen or king beds, dinette and sofa convertibles, roof and dash air conditioning, a TV, and often a generator for off-grid stops. Many hosts include linens, kitchenware, outdoor chairs, and a backup camera. Travel trailers offer the same amenities minus the engine. Class B campervan rental in Oakland Park is the most nimble pick, easier to park near the beach. Pro tip: check the RV's seatbelt count before booking, Florida law requires every passenger to be belted while the vehicle is in motion.

What add-ons and options do hosts typically offer?

You can customize your RV rental in Oakland Park to skip the hassle. Common add-ons from Oakland Park hosts include linen and towel packages, kitchen kits, generator use, bike racks, beach chairs, paddleboards, portable grills, and outdoor patio mats. Many hosts also offer delivery and pickup at Easterlin Park or Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport for a per-mile fee. Pickup and drop-off windows are usually flexible, just confirm times in the message thread. One-way trips (pickup in Oakland Park, drop-off elsewhere) are possible with select hosts, message them directly to ask. Pro tip: bundle add-ons into a single conversation before booking so you and the host are aligned on the total.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is straightforward and secure. You pay through the RVezy platform when you book, never to the host directly, and your card is charged for the rental total plus applicable fees and taxes. A refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before pickup, not actually charged. Once the host confirms the RV is returned in good shape, the hold is released back to you. To avoid issues, do a thorough walkaround with the host at pickup and drop-off, take photos and videos of any existing dings, and refuel and dump tanks before returning. Pro tip: use a credit card with enough available limit so the hold doesn't tie up your travel spending money.
