🌄 Our First RV Adventure—10 Days of Fun & Freedom! - This was our very first RV vacation, and while we were a little hesitant at first, Bill made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. He was incredibly helpful—available before, during, and even after our trip to answer questions and offer support. His thorough walkthrough before we hit the road gave us confidence, especially with tips on what to do in different situations. We took the RV for 10 days from South Florida to the mountains of Maryland, stopping at six different campgrounds and even plugging in at my sister’s and in-laws’ homes for a few nights. The RV had everything we needed and was in great shape—clean, well-equipped, and surprisingly easy to drive. We returned it with just a minor hubcap issue and no other problems, which felt like a blessing after such a big trip. We had an absolute blast and would highly recommend this RV to anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable, and fun way to travel. Thanks again, Bill!

Hibiscus was amazing! It was nice and clean when we rented it and was fully stocked with everything you would need while camping dished, cookwares, silverware, and even chairs and an outdoor rug! Gary and his wife made sure that we would have a great trip. It was super easy to hook it up and the camp grounds. It drove great and was easier than expected and got even better gas mileage than we expected. I will most definitely be booking with Gary again in the future!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Kemp Mill, MD

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Kemp Mill, MD?

RV rental in Kemp Mill is more affordable than you might expect, with most rentals ranging from about $95 to $275 per night depending on the rig. Compact campervans and small travel trailers from local hosts in the Wheaton and Silver Spring area sit at the lower end, while Class C and Class A motorhomes equipped for family trips run $175 to $325 nightly. Booking midweek and avoiding peak Cherry Blossom Festival weekends in late March can knock 15 to 20 percent off your total. Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Kemp Mill, Maryland?

Good news: a standard Class C driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Maryland for virtually every rig on RVezy. Maryland only requires a non-commercial Class B license for motorhomes with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 26,001 pounds, and almost every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, and travel trailer in the Kemp Mill area falls well under that threshold. You will need to be at least 25 years old, and RVezy verifies your ID right inside the booking flow, so there is no DMV trip required. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit and you are road-ready.

What if I need to cancel my Kemp Mill RV rental?

Booking is low-risk because RVezy, not the host, sets the cancellation policy, and it includes a money-back grace period right after you book. That means if your plans change shortly after confirming, you have a window to cancel and get refunded. The exact refund amount depends on how close to your trip start date you cancel. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy refunds you or provides travel credit so you can rebook with confidence. Visit the RVezy Help Center for current policy details, and reach out to support anytime if you need help adjusting dates instead of cancelling outright.

July and August are warm and humid (often 85-92°F with thunderstorms), so make sure your rental has working air conditioning and plan early-morning drives. Winter RV trips are absolutely doable thanks to mild lows in the 30s, and many local hosts list rigs with heated water tanks for cold-weather camping at parks like Greenbelt that stay open year-round.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?

You will be more than okay, first time renting an RV is exactly who the RVezy platform is built for. You can message your host throughout the trip with questions, and RVezy customer support plus 24/7 roadside assistance are always a tap away. For your first trip, consider a Class C motorhome or campervan rental in Kemp Mill, they handle much more like a large van than a bus, and Greenbelt Park is a stress-free first-night destination only 15 minutes away.

Fuel budgeting is straightforward once you know your rig. Class B campervans average 18-22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get 8-12 MPG, and Class A coaches run 6-10 MPG. With Maryland regular gas averaging around $3.30-$3.60 per gallon in the DC metro, a 300-mile weekend loop to Shenandoah in a Class C will run roughly $90-$120 in fuel. The cheapest stations are typically the Costco and Sam's Club in Beltsville and the Wawa locations along Route 29, all within 10 minutes of Kemp Mill. How far in advance should I book a campground near Kemp Mill?

Book early and you will lock in the best spots. Greenbelt Park and other National Park Service campgrounds open reservations six months in advance through recreation.gov, and summer weekends fill quickly. Maryland State Parks like Patapsco Valley and Cunningham Falls take reservations through the Maryland Park Service reservation portal up to a year out for many sites. Private parks like Cherry Hill Park in College Park typically book 2 to 4 months ahead for peak season but often have midweek openings. Pro tip: if a weekend looks full, target Sunday through Thursday stays, your rates drop, the crowds vanish, and many Kemp Mill area hosts discount weekday RV rentals.

What are driving conditions like around Kemp Mill?

Driving an RV around Kemp Mill is very manageable as long as you plan around DC's rush hours. The Capital Beltway (I-495) gets congested 6:30-9:30 a.m. and 3:30-7:00 p.m. on weekdays, so aim to leave town mid-morning or after dinner. Avoid downtown DC entirely in any RV, the height restrictions, narrow streets, and low parking garages aren't worth it. Instead, take the ICC (MD-200) east-west to bypass the city, and use I-270 north toward Frederick for a smooth highway exit. Local roads in Kemp Mill itself are wide and quiet. If you are nervous about city driving, book a host who offers RV delivery and skip the urban routes entirely.

Local campgrounds in the Kemp Mill area offer a strong mix of amenities for every comfort level. Greenbelt Park provides flush toilets, drinking water spigots, and a dump station, but no individual hookups, so plan to use your RV's holding tanks. State parks like Patapsco Valley typically include electric hookups at many RV sites and bathhouses. For dumping and freshwater fills near Kemp Mill, Cherry Hill Park sells day-use access for these services. Always confirm your specific site's amenities at booking.
nps.gov/gree/planyourvisit/campground.htm

What features and amenities come inside the RV?

Most RVs you'll rent in Kemp Mill come fully equipped for comfortable living, think real beds, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with shower and toilet, dinette seating, roof A/C, and a furnace. Larger Class A and Class C motorhomes often add a TV, generator, outdoor speakers, and even a second slide-out for extra room. Wi-Fi varies, so plan to use your phone hotspot or pick a host who lists mobile internet. Seatbelts are required for all passengers while driving, so check the listed sleeps-and-seatbelts count carefully if you are traveling with a family. Each listing shows a full amenity checklist before you book.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and fully handled through the secure RVezy platform, no cash or off-platform transfers, ever. You pay your rental total at booking using a credit or debit card, and the funds are processed by RVezy. A refundable security deposit, separate from your booking payment and typically a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the RV, is authorized on your card before pickup and released after your trip ends, assuming the rig is returned in the same condition. To avoid any deposit issues, take date-stamped photos of the interior and exterior at both pickup and dropoff, return the RV with a full fuel tank and empty holding tanks, and stay in touch with your host through the app.
