2021 Gulf Stream Travel Trailer
The success of platforms like RVezy depends on people, not just campers. We found in Lena a host who was quick to respond, thorough, accommodating and pleasant. Arranging for pickup was easy, and her complete walkthrough of towing hookup and campground setup was very helpful. She has the unit fully outfitted with everything needed for sleeping, cooking and showering, etc. We had set aside a number of items to bring that we were able to leave at home. There's even a red binder inside with instructions for all the systems, While the camper is a couple years old, it's really only the outside that shows any minor wear from normal exposure to the elements. Everything worked as we needed it to. In all, this was a great solution for our annual group camping trip, this year to Willow River State Park. Highly recommend this host.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Andover, MN

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Andover, MN?

Renting an RV in Andover is surprisingly affordable, with most peer-to-peer rentals landing between $95 and $275 per night depending on size and season. Compact campervans and small travel trailers sit at the lower end, while spacious Class A and Class C motorhomes built for a family RV trip Andover families love run higher. You can stretch your budget by booking midweek, traveling in May or September shoulder season, and using RVezy's price filter to find a cheap RV rental Andover hosts have priced for value. Pro tip: many Andover-area hosts offer weekly discounts of 10 to 20 percent, so a Bunker Hills camping week often costs less per night than a long weekend.

What kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Andover, MN?

Good news: your regular Class D Minnesota driver's license is all you need for the vast majority of RVs on RVezy. A standard non-commercial license covers any vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 26,000 pounds or less, which includes nearly every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, travel trailer, and fifth wheel listed for rent in Andover. All RVezy approved drivers must be 25 or older with a valid license, and ID confirmation happens right inside the platform during booking. Visiting from out of state or abroad? Your home license (plus an International Driving Permit if you're international) works just fine for your Andover RV trip.

What if I need to cancel my Andover RV rental?

You're not locked in the moment you book. RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy for every Andover RV rental booking, and it includes a money-back grace period right after you confirm so you can plan with confidence. After that, refund amounts depend on how far out your trip start date is, and RVezy support can walk you through your options if plans change. Can the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway in Andover?

Yes, RV delivery Andover hosts offer is one of the most popular options on the platform, and it's a game changer if you've never towed a trailer or driven a Class A motorhome before. Many Andover-area hosts will deliver your rig straight to Bunker Hills Campground, Rice Creek Campground in Centerville, or even your own driveway, then level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. Just use the Delivery filter when searching RV rental in Andover and message the host with your destination. Delivery fees usually scale by mileage, and many hosts deliver free within 15 to 20 miles of Andover.

How far can I drive on an Andover RV rental, and how does mileage work?

You've got plenty of room to roam. Most hosts in Andover include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and you'll find listings with RV rental with unlimited mileage as well (look for the mileage info right on the listing page). That's more than enough for a classic Minnesota RV road trip from Andover: Duluth and Lake Superior sit about 145 miles north, Voyageurs National Park is around 285 miles, the Boundary Waters near Ely is roughly 235 miles, and the St. Croix River valley is just 35 miles east. Pro tip: if you're planning a North Shore loop, filter for unlimited-mileage listings to skip the math entirely.

Where should I stay in an RV near Andover, MN?

You're spoiled for choice on best campgrounds near Andover. Bunker Hills Campground (in the 1,600-acre Bunker Hills Regional Park right in Andover) has 58 shaded sites with water and electric, plus access to Minnesota's largest outdoor water park. Rice Creek Campground in Centerville is 25 minutes south with 57 sites and lakeside trails. Minneapolis Northwest KOA Journey in Maple Grove is great for first-timers who want full hookups and a pool. A bit further out, William O'Brien State Park (45 minutes east on the St. Croix River) offers 100-plus sites with 50-amp hookups. Pro tip: book Bunker Hills early; summer weekends fill months ahead through the Anoka County reservation system.

When is the best time for RV camping in Andover, MN?

Late May through mid-October is prime time for RV camping Andover locals swear by, with daytime highs from 70 to 82 degrees and long, golden evenings perfect for campfires. June and September are the sweet spot: warm days, cool nights in the 50s, and far fewer mosquitoes than peak July. July and August are the busiest (and best for swimming at Bunker Beach Water Park, open early June through Labor Day). Fall color along the Rum River and St. Croix peaks late September into early October. Winter rentals do exist for ice fishing and snowmobiling adventures, just filter for four-season rigs with heated tanks and book a host who knows cold-weather setup.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I actually be okay driving one?

You'll be more than okay, promise. First time renting an RV in Andover means you get a full walkthrough from your host at pickup: how to level the rig, hook up to shore power, dump tanks, run the propane and generator, and operate the slide-outs. Andover itself is a relaxed suburb with wide roads and easy access to Highway 10 and Highway 65, so you can build confidence on local streets before tackling I-35. Choose a Class C motorhome or small travel trailer if you're nervous; they drive much like a big van. And remember, RVezy support is one tap away in the app any time you need a hand.

What happens if something breaks down during my Andover RV trip?

You're never stranded. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on Highway 10, a dead battery at Bunker Hills, or a tow situation up near Mille Lacs is handled with one phone call. Your host is also a direct lifeline by message for quirky questions like how to reset the inverter or relight the water heater. Pro tip: snap a photo of the RV's VIN, plate, and key system labels during your walkthrough so you can share details quickly with the roadside team.

Can I take an Andover RV rental into Canada or other states?

Cross-state and cross-border road trips are absolutely on the table. From Andover, you can roll into Wisconsin in under an hour, North Dakota in about four hours, or aim north on I-35 toward the Canadian border at International Falls (about 285 miles) for a Voyageurs or Ontario adventure. Travel into Canada is allowed with many hosts as long as you confirm it in advance and the protection package supports cross-border coverage, so just message the host before you book. Heads up: travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Popular RV road trip from Andover routes include the North Shore Scenic Drive and the Great River Road.

What should I budget for fuel on a motorhome rental Andover trip?

Fuel is usually the second-biggest line item after the rental itself, but it's easy to plan for. Class B campervans get 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 MPG, and larger Class A rigs run 7 to 10 MPG. Minnesota gas prices typically sit a touch below the national average, and Andover has plenty of stations along Hanson Boulevard and Bunker Lake Boulevard with easy RV access. For a 300-mile weekend loop to Duluth in a Class C, expect roughly $90 to $120 in fuel. Pro tip: download the GasBuddy app and fill up at the Costco in Coon Rapids before heading north for the best price.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Andover?

Sooner is better, especially for summer. Bunker Hills Campground and Rice Creek Campground (both Anoka County Parks) open reservations and fill quickly for any weekend between Memorial Day and Labor Day, often months out. Minnesota State Parks like William O'Brien and Wild River open campsite bookings 120 days in advance through the Minnesota DNR reservation system, and prime riverside sites disappear the morning they release. For a stress-free family RV trip Andover weekend, lock in your campground first, then book your RV on RVezy around those dates. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) almost always have openings, even in July.

What are local driving conditions like around Andover?

Driving an RV in and around Andover is genuinely beginner-friendly. The city sits at the calm northern edge of the Twin Cities metro, with wide suburban arterials like Bunker Lake Boulevard and Hanson Boulevard that handle big rigs without drama. Highway 10 and Highway 65 give you direct routes north toward cabin country, while I-35W is just 15 minutes south if you need it. Watch for two seasonal realities: winter brings snow and black ice from November through March (most Andover RV rentals are summer-only for this reason), and summer thunderstorms can pop up fast, especially in July. Pro tip: avoid I-694 westbound at 5 p.m. on Fridays heading out of town.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Andover?

You'll find a full range, from rustic to resort. Bunker Hills Campground offers 30-amp water and electric hookups, modern bathrooms with flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station, and even paired 50-amp sites for bigger rigs. Rice Creek Campground has similar setups plus an amphitheater for nature programs. Minnesota State Parks like William O'Brien add 50-amp full hookups, swimming beaches, and sanitary dump stations. Where to park an RV in Andover for water and dump access? Bunker Hills and Rice Creek both have on-site dump stations included with your stay. Pro tip: many Andover gas stations along Bunker Lake Boulevard also have potable water fills, handy if you arrive late after dump-station hours.

What will be inside my Andover RV rental?

More comfort than you'd expect. Most RVs listed for rent an RV in Andover come fully equipped with a queen or king bed, additional bunk or convertible sleeping for 4 to 8 people, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, plus a bathroom with toilet and shower. Air conditioning, furnace, and propane are standard, and many rigs include a generator, outdoor speakers, awning, and a flat-screen TV. Seatbelt counts vary by RV, so check the listing to match your group size. Looking for a campervan rental Andover style for two? Popular add-ons include camp chairs and tables, bedding and linen packages ($30 to $75 per trip), kitchen kits, bike racks, kayaks or paddleboards, generators, and Starlink or mobile Wi-Fi for working remotely from the campsite. How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and fully handled through the RVezy platform, so you never hand cash or a check to your host. You'll pay the rental total when you book using a credit or debit card, and a refundable security deposit is held separately (not charged) on your card before your trip starts. Deposit amounts are set per listing and typically range from $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV. As long as you return the rig in the same condition with the agreed fuel and tank levels, the hold is released after your trip. Pro tip: take timestamped photos at pickup and dropoff to keep everything documented.

Are there winter RV rentals available in Andover, MN?

Yes, and a Minnesota winter in an RV is a genuine adventure. Some Andover hosts list four-season rigs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and Arctic packages built to handle deep cold January temperatures. These are perfect for ice fishing trips on Mille Lacs Lake, snowmobiling near Hinckley, or cozy basecamp stays with shore power. Filter for winter-ready listings and message the host to confirm hookup setup and antifreeze protocols. Pro tip: plan to plug into 30-amp shore power overnight so the furnace can run continuously, and ask about a heated water hose so your fresh water line stays flowing all weekend.
